Stewart Golf: Coming soon!

so here are the seven mistakes that you need to be aware of before buying irons some brands have great reputations for certain areas of the bag so titless blades are like catnip to low handicap golfers mauno irons well they’re going to get the blood of golf purist flowing and Ping irons have a reputation of making even the worst golfers acceptable but as the Steady Hand of capitalism ticks forward companies have started to take chunks out of each other in these wellestablished areas and what that means is that companies even like Ping are making good forged irons now a few years ago they wouldn’t have even thought about making a club like this but now they’re really good and of those Brands we spoke about before mauno and titless they’re both making clubs very much focused on your mid to high handicapper now so if you are focused on a certain brand maybe ignore that maybe look Beyond you know there’s a lot of other options out there [Music] now now I’m not denying I love a Japanese forg blade for example it conjures up amazing images of dancing Samurai and flashing swords and the [Music] forges and companies like Muno who have their heritage in Japan still do make fantastic irons but the modern game has moved away from Pure blades no matter how shiny they are forging has long been associated with blades and for a golf purist they always have it in mind the golf manufacturers are increasingly making a cast head and then inserting a forged face to increase the field and these are the fastest growing type of iron by far they are very very popular and I can see why in the most basic sense you do not need blades to hit good scores and if that looks familiar and you’re watching this video the chances are you don’t need blades either but if you do want a fantastic set of shiny blades or muscle backs then you can’t really go too far wrong with these tailor made p7 MBS this is a model which a lot of Tor Pros putting into play and a lot of very good amateurs as well it’s very very simple there’s not a lot to it and it has a very very thin Sole and Topline profile you need to be confident with your ball striking if you want to put these into play but the way that they’ve been forged the way that they’ve been pressed the steel in here is very dense it is very close together and the feel of them is absolutely fantastic and this is what I mean about different manufacturers offering something really really cool this is a tailor made blade and it equals the performance and the feel of a Mauna there’s absolutely no doubt about that so if you are looking for something like a blade then these are a very good [Music] option but as mentioned most people watching this they’re not going to need blades use something forgiving use something which is going to benefit you over the long term rather than get one of those shiny blades how about you consider something like this a shrien zx4 just go in the hole I’ve chosen this club because well I really like it however there are a lot of other options in this forged face category this is one of those clubs which has a bigger head it offers more forgiveness there’s Tech within here to help on offc Center strikes but the face itself is forged so it has that feeling that solidity that softness that you could get from a blade then it also offers a lot of forgiveness to go along with it you know what else would feel really good for you is if you hit that subscribe button rather shockingly over half of you watching this aren’t currently subscribe to the channel as we March towards the number of 700,000 here on Youtube it’ll be great to have you along to the [Music] ride during the past few years there’s been an exp explosion in golf club prices and particularly within irons this is happening as inflation goes up the cost of materials etc etc everything you hear on the TV however golf clubs just generally are expensive however good value can still be found for example just look at these Wilsons they are absolutely beautiful so this is the Wilson Staff model but we’ve spoken about how blades aren’t for everyone but if you are looking for a really shiny set of golf clubs for a cheapish price then these are a good option but also from Wilson we have the D9 Forge now this is actually probably one of my favorite ions that Wilson have released it’s not super cheap but it is very very good really within the last few years I don’t think there’s many companies that have kept their prices as competitive and produc proded really good golf clubs oh these just feel epic that’s hold it against the wi lovely go that way no but they are not the only company doing very good things with price for example look at these tacos now Tacomo and manufacturers like Kaye for example they are direct to Consumer so you can’t buy these clubs through shops and that allows them to C out of the middleman to keep prices down but the value for money that you can find with these companies on new irons is really really good and worth a look we’ve tested out these clubs before and I personally really couldn’t see that much a difference between these and those are stlish main manufacturers that are well known well regarded for making [Music] it yes yes that is a complete contradiction however this this is where golfers need to exercise something called common sense if you see a box set for a new set of golf clubs and it’s going to cost you $100 £100 the chances are it’s going to be made of asbestos or something terrible there are very few examples of really cheap clubs that I’ve tested that I thought were pretty good but here’s one and the example I have is Anis now Anis is the golf brand of the sports Department store de catalon and I’ve tested a few of their clubs and to be honest they’ve always been really good and they’ve also been really cheap they’re probably the only example that I can think of to be honest of a club that I’ve got for really cheap and thought you know what this is this is fantastic did everyone hear the strike on that by the way that was pure like two P I think I’ve lost that golf ball and to give you an idea of how good I actually think these are I remember when I put one of these clubs into competition like a professional event a few years ago like a driving L that was hitting off the tea and I think that cost me 30 quid [Music] now if you’re going to get some new irons and you’re making a significant investment within your game not getting them custom fit is a real oversight and personally if you are going to be spending this money just go for it and where you get yourself custom fit there are so many options now I mean you have Fitters that really just specialize within this one area you have PJ Pros that could then fit you and sell you the clubs even the big department stores that a few years ago I wouldn’t have recommended actually now the whole flaw has been raised and and there are just so many options for you now to get custom fit I mean I’ve been really lucky to get fit by many Fantastic people if you are going to be spending this large amount of money one area which you might want to look into is to go directly to the manufacturer ping for example if you go and see them at Gainesboro in the UK and there are other places around the world they already know that you’re pretty committed to buying an iron so they’re not going to look to upsell you into anything which was something which did happen back in the day when you went to these big stores and the level of service that they offer is usually very very high and something a good fitter should be able to do is even potentially tell you that you don’t need irons in certain areas of your bag potentially as you’re losing a little bit of swing speed or maybe just for forgiveness they could fit you into hybrids as it gets into the longer ions this is something which I would recommend slightly Strang in an iron’s video but I think a lot of people would benefit from sticking hybrids in place now something which I’m really excited about generally is the secondhand Club Market because you can find some exceptional deals you won’t get that full custom fitting experience if you buy secondhand but there’s nothing stopping you getting a custom fit and then searching the internet for a club which will fit into your specs but the reason I love the secondhand iron Market is apart from the condition which can be a little bit bashed about the quality and technology in an iron head it just won’t diminish realistically you have the last decade of ions to choose from and over that 10-year period that is an incredible amount of fantastic ions to choose [Music] from this is one of the most common questions that I guessed should I buy a set of VES for my current ability or should I get a set of V which I aspire to be good enough to use normally this comes in conjunction with I’m having lessons I think I’m going to get better so I should get a set of blades a set of muscle back something which is beyond my current striking ability so this is the gym fallacy it’s buying clothes that are too small for you in the hope that by going to the gym you will eventually fit into them yes this is something that I have invented Oh loveely shot that mate where the hell is he it was meant to be here 20 minutes ago honestly I have no idea you know what he’s like where the hell have you been oh I’ve just been cleaning me clubs mate you’re telling me you’ve bought more new clubs well I went to the range over night got a bucket of balls and I absolutely ped one of them that’s all well and good mate but what happened to the rest of that bucket oh he’s a really hard to it the only thing I would recommend is not going in for a fitting literally just after a lesson or if you’re still working on swing mechanics within the fitting cuz that makes absolutely no sense and you will probably appear to be a psychopath to your fitter so big thank you to Spanish point for having us down it’s been a wonderful day here on the Irish coast and if you want more information on what clubs that you should be buying check out these videos here

  1. Pete just triggered all the Mizuno purists by saying the TaylorMade MBs feel just as good. 😂

  2. Watching your channel is like being immersed in a world of creativity and inspiration. Please continue to entertain us with your talent and enthusiasm!🍋🥓😘

  3. Thanks Peter for another great video. For the record I’m using ‘game improvement’ irons and play off 2 handicap. As you said, go for a fitting 😎

  4. I am going back to using my ping Eye 2's….My Callaway Apex Pro aren't doing it for me anymore. made a nice 71 with Pings last thursday…

  5. Great video Pete! Still rocking my t-rail irons from when I was a 30+ HC. Made it down to a 15 HC, but recently regressed a bit to a 20 and glad I hadn't made the move to a sleeker set as of yet. Maybe once I get down below a 15 again, I'll think about getting something more fit for me, but for now, they work!

  6. I think golfers should understand lofted vs de-lofted irons too. De-lofted clubs appear to be superior because they go farther, but that doesn't mean they are better for your game. They have their place for certain golfers. As my swing improved, I sold the de-lofted clubs for standard.

  7. I just bought a brand new set of Wilson D9 Forged, 5-GW for $500. They look and feel amazing. Worth every penny and so much more affordable than buying a new set of the big brands. I couldn't be happier.

  8. Both you and Rick appear to be so anti-PXG it’s unbelievable. The 0211 iron range are top quality and so forgiving

  9. The best iron to buy is one that makes it fun for you to play the game. This will be a butterknife for some and an entire set of hybrids for someone else.
