Fiddle with the equipments is part of fun, I personally don’t care what other say, I have seen heaps with circle 3-4 putts every holes but who cares

It’s weird to be concerning yourself with something that doesn’t effect you at all.
I_Enjoy_Beer
I don’t give a shit about anyone else’s clubs and I ignored all the “get fitted” advice because I’m a dogshit golfer and figured a 5% improvement from getting the right clubs for me was less important than making my swing better/more consistent.
So I got Ping425s so I could laugh to myself when everyone at the range hears my coffee can driver.
Kuntzsplitter
I enjoy talking clubs with people and seeing what’s in their bag, but I never suggest a club to them. I ask them what they enjoy about the clubs they bought and if they plan to make changes to the bag.
altctrldel86
I love when my p790’s launch an extra 20 yards when I hit that tiny ass hot spot…
tennsc
Hey man, if he wants to play the T100s let him. Whatever

While it’s true equipment has definitely improved over the years and will optimize your game, it most certainly won’t fix your game.
Take a scratch golfer and give him a set of Walmart clubs he will still beat the brakes off of you.
Fix your swing. Equipment wont do anything if you suck.
jsg_nado
Play whatever clubs you want I do not care. There’s no handicap limit for tinkering, everyone should – it’s fun! Would never comment a random partner’s clubs.
Unless of course you also have sick blades and then I will compliment your sick blades and I will probably ask to hit a shot with them.
Pinstripe99
I’m a 15.4 and i know how clueless i am. lol

Honestly, it doesn’t matter at the end of the day. Golf club brands love those players who punch too high for their skill. So, let them spend a fortune and tell themselves they need those clubs.

I’m a high handicapper (18) but the best among my friends, and the nonsense I see them trying and talking about and stressing about is just ludicrous. Like bros just play.
FuckYouUAsshole
I truly do not give a shit what clubs you own or how you talk about them.
Have fun with me. Keep your anger away from the course. Keep up pace of play. Do those 3 things and I think you are the perfect playing partner.
CrustyBappen
This dude would have more fun if he focused on enjoying the course rather than being a judgemental asshat

J-wreck clearly books solo. Not because no one wants to play with him tho
Revolutionary-Big655
You can buy all the equipment in the world but you have to learn the basics for it to make a difference. Also you can’t buy hand/eye coordination.
TravisKOP
I mean I get the sentiment, it’s similar in surfing with beginners discussing board shapes but he didn’t have to be so smug about it
Warren_Puff-it
I get the point OOP is getting at, but honestly I see a much higher percentage of mediocre golfers that do this sort of shit than high handicappers. We live in an age of extreme advertisement. Even the +2.2 HC players are being oversold shit they don’t need. Most of the time high handicappers are overbuying $75 pieces of plastic called ‘swing trainers’ which they were told would fix their game.
Repulsive-Relief1551
As a high HC, you’ll hear me talking about all the balls I lose and that’s about it.
luckyjackalhaver
Some dudes just love toys, and we see it play out in pretty much all hobbies.

The only thought I put into my equipment as a high handicapper was a game improvement head with normal-ish lofts. Which brought me to the Maltby KE4 Tour+ (now discontinued).
Got graphite shafts as they’re a little easier on the body as I get beat up enough at work (fireman).
Got Tour Velvet +4 midsize grips cause they feel nice in my hands.
As for the game, well, there’s always room for improvement!!
tkn121821
Love the lame humble brag of a 2.2 with p790’s. Still playing and mentioning his fancy brand. Maybe he’d be a scratch with cb’s? Loser lol… see how easy it is to put people down for zero reason?
charlezprice
This is the same thing I used to say about kids pulling up to the skatepark in all Famous, Spitfire, and Adio but couldn’t do a kickflip. “Posers.”
I was 15 when I used to say these things.
15 years later, who gives a fuck?

To be fair, the OP asking this in this manner is coming off as a major douchebag.
ljc267
That doesn’t really bother me. They’re just trying to sound like they know what they’re talking about.
What I don’t understand is why high handicappers are so focused on distance when they can’t hit the ball anywhere near where they want to. The truth is if you can hit the ball 180 yards you can break 90 if you just learn how to play the game.
RocketmanZed
Yes it’s not always easy listening to 25 hdcp gearheads, or ones that throw out swing tips lol.
Robinyox
My dad snapped the head off his 7i on the weekend. Unsurprisingly in fact, as they were bought in 1991 as a gift to himself when I was born.
He’s 65, plays off a 4, only uses 8 clubs which are 35 years old. I think his driver was bought in 2002.
Even-Concentrate4752
Are you that insecure about yourself to care wtf the newbie is talking about? Your comment reeks of the arrogance that pushes people away from trying new things. Not everyone can be as special as you
fredapp
I want to put a good strike on the ball more than I want to score well.
Meaning if I hit it bad I don’t want it to still go as far as if i had hit it well.
That strategy has worked well for me. Was a 15ish handicap 5-6 years ago, was a 2 at the end of last year. Still would rather feel the reward of a great strike, and have to deal with the outcome of a poor one.

Dunning-Kruger effect in full force.
I’m a 26 handicap, all I know is I can’t use graphite clubs because I kept snapping them. Could not tell you the difference between anything else.
If a high cap wants to play T100s, who gives a shit? Conversely if a 2cap wants to play 790s, nobody cares either
I enjoy golf because it’s an individual sport.
If it’s not a competition, I couldn’t care less what my playing partner does or says or how they record their scores.
Never thought twice about anyone elses clubs in my entire life.
I play with a guy like that. Constantly had new woods, irons, wedges, putter, balls, you name it..
Still absolutely sucks at golf. Instead of the equipment work on your game.
