.357 Mag- More practical, more affordable ammo, more capacity, less weight, better follow up shots. .44 Mag- For serious use in hunting or protection, requires a lot of skill but is most certainly the most powerful practical handgun cartridge. I love both of these but the people who carry a .44 Mag after shooting it a couple times are generally idiots, those who actually train with it and learn how to tame that recoil have my respect.
I have a .357 TRR-8, a Ruger SRH 7.5" .454, and S&W 3.5" .460 XVR. I don't have a .44. haven't decided model I want. Go Classic with a S&W 29, Rainbow six gun with the Raging bull(hunter) .44, Ruger Alaskan, or Colt Kodiak. I'm only getting one. I already have 2 smiths, the alaskan could be a short buddy to my SRH, they don't really make the raging bull anymore so it wouldn't exactly be the same gun i used in game, and I heard the Colt was having issues and its the most expensive.
