Thankful For Dave!

I had the opportunity to get a round in after work today. The course was in pretty bad shape due to all the rain in Michigan as of recent, but I was just happy to get out there. We were restricted to the back 9, which was no biggie, I’m a member at the course I was at, and I like and play the back 9 a lot.

Part way through the round, a gentleman walking (I was carting) was going to let me play through. The course was fairly busy, and we ended up playing together.

Pretty cool guy. 70 years old, and walks a bunch of golf. Dude was pretty damn consistent too. As a 32 y/o, I aspire to be in the position to do that at 70.

He was a pleasure to talk to and play with. I’ve played with randoms before and barely talked. Not the case this time around, we were having a good time.

On the 16th hole, I ended up sinking a hole in one! Par 3, 140ish yards. I couldn’t believe it. My first ever. I didn’t even know how to react, so I barely did. In the moment I was wrapped up in the thought that if I had turned down playing with the guy, I may have hit a hole in one by myself, with no witness. Basically a nightmare.

I bought him a drink after the round and we chatted for a bit. Moral of the story here is that you never know who you might get or what could happen if you play with someone random.
