Ben Hogan was known as one of the most private legends in golf history… and he didn’t just hand out his secrets.

But a select few were trusted.

One of them was Jody Vasquez.

In this powerful episode of Mr. Hogan, Jody shares what he learned directly from Hogan himself—insights into the swing, the mindset, and the discipline that made Hogan one of the greatest ball strikers of all time.

These aren’t theories.
These are the principles that built a legend.

If you’re serious about improving your golf game, this is a rare opportunity to hear it from someone who was there.

  1. Great series Christo. I would love to come out in June… I live on the Gulf Coast near Galveston Island. Grapevine is a good 5 1/2 hour drive. Do you have plans to come to the Houston area?

  2. I thought Hogan said in his final couple years that he worked on keeping the right elbow close to his body and pointing down at top of backswing as key to consistent shots? Snead's elbow was way up there and pointed behind him and Hogan joked with him and said "that's the reason why you never won the US Open!". I have footage from a golf tv show in the late 50s/early 60s and its been awhile since I watched it but I believe Snead mentions this.

  3. Nice one. And of course, Knudson modelled his swing on Hogan and he preached balance as the most important element of the swing. It showed.

Been working on that trail leg myself.
    👍

  4. Jimmy Ballard preaches to start the downswing with a kick of the right foot and and knee towards the ball. He said he learned it from Sam Byrd, whom they say Hogan would talk to quite a lot.

    Interesting….

  5. Throwing the right knee at the ball has been said in open discussions. Remember it's not the only secret building a good golf swing, there are many "Secrets" that are key…

  6. After he retired Hogan gave away his secret in a golf digest…When I wanted more power I would just "run my right knee toward the target more"
