The ladies European tour in Ireland. Back at Cotton House Fairmont for the KPMG Women’s Irish Open. Another breezy day on Saturday around from Leona Magguire, the poster girl for the tournament. Proud of the way she made the cut. And then a third day 70 that leaves her at two under par. The leading Irish player though is Anna Foster. Top five last week in Germany. She matched the best round of the day, a 67, closing out with a birdie there at 18. Not quite the day that Charlie Hull was looking for, the world number 19 player with an eagle attempt here at 15. She had to settle for a birdie and had to settle for a round of 72. That leaves her nine shots a drift heading into the final round. Rookie Amelia Garvey from New Zealand’s been in fine form. Top three in two of her last three events. Lovely T-shot here at the par 316. Also at eight under park. In contention at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open for the third year in a row is Australian Kirsten Rudley. She’ll start the final round at nine underpass. She’ll be in the final group on Sunday as will Matlin Sagstrom, a winner again this season on the LPGA Tour. Beautiful shot into the 13th hole on her way to 10 underpar overall. But like all the other pros in the field, trailing behind the amateur Ly W started the day with a threeshot lead. By the time she knocked in that fifth birdie today at the 15th, she was miles clear. The world number one amateur then produced this T-OT over the water at the par 316th. Victorious at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship at the beginning of April last year. She could do no wrong holding that one for par at 17. Just one drop shot on the card all week. No wonder she was smiling. And at the end of the day, a sevenshot lead to take into Sunday. Mora and Fernandez in the group at 800 par. But so far in Ireland, it’s all about Lotty Wad.
