I tried barefoot running for 7 days and I liked it!
Barefoot running became popular after the release of the book Born to Run by Christopher McDougall in 2009. After spending time with the Tarahumara tribe he concluded that modern cushioned running shoes were a big cause of running related injuries.
Minimal cushioned running shoes became common and people were even turning to running totally barefoot. However, in recent years it seems like people are moving back towards extra cushioning or maximalist running shoes.
For this challenge I wanted to see if I could try barefoot running for seven days. I was both interested in the effects on my running technique and whether I would feel any other mental or physical changes.
Research has shown that there might be positive results from grounding or earthing yourself. Something that I would be achieving daily through barefoot running.
