In this Your Golf NCG video, our PGA Professional, Jack Backhouse, takes an in-depth look at the new TaylorMade Spider ZT, a putter designed to eliminate face rotation and improve consistency on the greens. If you struggle with short putts or find it difficult to keep the putter face square, this could be the solution you’ve been looking for.
Jack begins by highlighting one of the biggest problems amateur golfers face: unwanted face rotation during the stroke. He walks through the technical features of the putter, including a 303 milled steel face, a 6061 aluminum body, and a perimeter-weighted design that delivers 5000 MOI – making it incredibly forgiving.
Whether you’re a putting pro or someone who dreads 4-foot testers, this review will help you decide if the Spider ZT deserves a spot in your bag. Jack even crowns it his favourite zero torque putter on the market – find out why! If you’re considering a zero torque putter, the TaylorMade Spider ZT may be just the thing you are looking for.

i’m about to show you the biggest reason that most amateur golfers don’t hold more pots do you see it this is one of the biggest problems that golfers have on the greens now let’s see the solution and if you can’t tell by now the answer is face rotation and that’s something that the brand new Tailor-Made Spider ZT is looking to totally eliminate so Tailor May’s new putter is the latest Zero Talk offering joining the likes of Lab Odyssey and PXG but is this going to fix your putting and how is it any different from the current offerings in the market let’s go find out right now now there’s quite a lot to talk about here so we’re going to whiz through the tech in this putter so we’ve got a 303 mil steel sort of face we’ve got a 6061 aluminium back and we know that in these zero torque putters they have to get the weighting right so that’s how they’ve managed to do it there’s masses of exterior weighting and perimeter weighting here which just make it as forgiving as possible this putter is 5k MOI which we obviously talk a lot about in terms of drivers in the 10k fad we’ve been going through um uh so it’s interesting to note that this putter is in fact 5k now I don’t know what all the other putters are but it’s cool that Tailor Made have put a number on it just so that we know the engineers at Tailor Made have designed the CG the center of gravity of this putter to be exactly 25 mm behind the face and that’s where they’ve then drilled the hole to put the shaft in and it has a onederee lean similar to what we’ve seen in some of the other zero torque putters as well now just talking about aesthetics for me I love the spider shape i used the spider when I lost my clubs in California um and I really enjoyed using it and I’m actually quite pleased to see the spider shape here because some of the other zero torque putters are a bit wacky um so definitely suits my eye we’ve got the the pure roll face insert which is the same insert that we’ve used and that we’ve we know this insert basically features in all of the PJ tour players all of the DP World Tour players putters um that are using a tailor-made spider um the feedback is brilliant the roll off the face is fantastic so it just makes sense to have that on there so it’s great to have that technology it’s not a great stroke um something else this putter has is a premium mil true path alignment which is different to what we’ve seen in other spider putters so what we’ve got is a single black line basically on the top line but we also have these smaller milled lines which are exactly the width of a golf ball which just means that people are better able to line the putter up with the center of the face at a dress which is an issue that I see all the time in putting lessons so I think that’s a really nice touch from Tailor Made now I think you can really feel when making strokes with this putter how the face really doesn’t want to twist open and twist closed now I am coming from a blade putter which is probably like the most extreme opening and closing of a putter design you could have so this feels pretty radically different but to me it feels like as I take the putter back it’s almost like if I take the putter back dead straight the putter face will look at the target and for the whole stroke and I think when that happens you’ve got a much better chance of hitting the put online something we see all the time in amateurs certainly when I’m giving putting lessons and measuring people’s strokes on camera is an awful lot of putter face opening and putters moving sort of on weird lines on the way back which just means it’s harder to return a putter face back to square to hit the ball where you’re aiming so especially on short puts it’s ideal if that putter face just doesn’t twist at all and I feel like this putter does promote a stroke that’s going to help you do that so if you’re someone who really struggles with short ports getting one of these in your hands I think is going to make a massive difference now you still have to aim the putter properly right now because it doesn’t help with that particularly but if you can get your putter lined up on a good line and then make a a reasonable stroke with this thing I I do think you’ve got a much better chance of hitting it online and therefore knocking some putts in so other things that I quite like about the Spider ZT is the just the aesthetics of it so I think it’s really cool that they’ve managed to match the blue plate on the sole with the blue with superstroke on the grip and actually something that I’ve just noticed is the the shaft goes into the grip slightly off center which is similar to what we see in lab and again that’s just to help us feel like we square a dress if we had this lean with a grip that wasn’t slightly off center we would feel all very strange when we line up to it so that that’s quite cool as well and I always think that Tailor-Made’s products just like scream quality you know this has got quite a lot of mass to the head which I personally like you can get this putter in counterbalance and also in like a long length but for me I’ve like to feel the weight in the head and and this standard length putter does that for me i actually do think the clear path alignment thing does work and does help you line up in the middle of the face like I’m really conscious of that milling um now I do sort of quite like this putter in that compared to the Callaway as much as I thought the Callaays were really good as well they felt a bit light in the head to me where there’s plenty of mass here we’ve obviously got some screws with additional weight and just you know a much more substantial feeling head which is great the lab compared to the lab what I actually massive props to tailor made because the pure roll insert is just so good it feels right for some reason maybe that’s just because we’ve all been using these spider putters for for ages um but it it feels fantastic and the labs in my opinion feel too soft really struggled with my distance control when I tested the labs so the the distance control is good the alignment is very easy and it feels like a proper putter almost um now I do find it a bit strange with the shaft going in behind the face every putter I’ve ever used the shaft has been ahead of the ball which makes you know so so putting this in play just it sort of messes a bit with my eyes i do feel like I’m aiming a little bit left with all the zero torque putters to be fair that’s not just uh a tailor-made thing but I do feel like on short puts if I just The feeling for me is very much if I just take it straight back straight through I can’t hit it offline which is a great feeling to have so do I think this putter is going to change your life well maybe if you’re someone who struggles with the short putting and and they need something different then putting something like this in it will definitely help or it certainly will give you that placebo effect of I’ve got something new in my hands it looks different it feels different that might be enough to get you putting better but equally if you’re a good putter already I actually I probably don’t really see the reason to change i think putting is very personal and they generally do all have a similar loft and a similar flat face so if you put well with what you’ve got now you don’t really need to change to the zero torque in my opinion unless you’re absolutely desperate but this one is probably my favorite zero torque putter of anything on the market and that’s just because it’s got the familiar shape it’s got the pure roll insert and it just feels like meaty behind the head i love that there’s this the weight’s in the head it’s not in the shaft i feel like I’m swinging a bit of a pendulum and it just feels very very easy um if you are in the market for a zero torque putter then you should probably start with this

Drivel. People miss putts because of their path, alignment and face angle at impact.
Face angle at impact? Torsion maybe?
shame its a crazy price !!
5:26 min – misses an easy putt!
i have Putter-itis and 7 putters. I tried the LAB and hated the 3* lean and feel, horrible off face and lag putting was terrible. The best to date was my Bettinardi Inovai 6.0 so good…but i got the new ZT 35" and WOW it is so good..the feedback/feel is amazing..the putting id say close to my Betti, but the lag putting this thing is SO GOOD! I still think under 6' my Betti is better but i have also played it a lot more, the ZT is no joke good. I have not tried the OZ1i with the insert but plan too, as LAB is about 30 mins from my house. i do have to laugh at people that think golf is too expensive..haha have you guys not had any other hobbies? $450 for a putter you can use 18-50 times a round, multiple times a year and for most, many years… LOL shit race motorcycles, we spent $30 a gallon on fuel that last 2 laps… tires are $600/set and last 1 day MAYBE… golf is DIRT CHEAP relative to other sports/hobbies especially again you use the putter more than any other club and it doesnt "wear out" like a wedge or such. Some ppl just like to bitch imo
I chose this over the DF3 recently! Loving it so far. Definitely takes some getting used to coming from a Scotty Blade!
Now, if only the holes will be correctly cut so a ball rolling to the hole with speed continues forward as opposed to veering off left or right , backing away from miscut holes' higher edges.
Bs. Bs. Bs. I got paid😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂that green needs mowed!
