I like the handicap because even if you hit ball a certain distance it doesn’t measure how well you can score.

My thoughts are if you dont like the recommendation, then it doesn’t matter because you can disregard it. If you like the recommendation, you’re welcome. Nothing to see here at all.
mrjdk83
There are men who should play the green tees too
OrdinaryInside8
Should be on every course. And a call out to the bros playing the blues and tips with their baseball swings going 200 yards directly into the woods every hole.
TheWorldNeedsThanos
Grouping 24 handicap and scratch together is dumb lol
Jeremy24Fan
0-24 is way to large of a range for this recommendation to be taken seriously
West_Masterpiece9423
I’m an 18/19 and I play the whites. I want a few short iron approach shots.
GolferBrian
If you do not slow down play, play from wherever the heck you want. Suggestions are just that. They are not the rule.
Bostonismydog
Depends what the yardage is
DQ_Dipped_cone
I don’t need this sign to know I’m hitting from the white tees
SnooSketches7529
I like it but 10 handicap probs not off the tips either, 5 and below.
Pga181
Most 300 guys are really 245

Depends on the slope rating of the course.
scotsman3288
As a 9 hcp I’m going white tees all day long. In the words of Katt, why would I go further back for same price?
aceattorneymvp
I agree with many of the comments – tee box should generally (there are always exceptions, of course) depend on how far you hit your 7 iron. So although my handicap is around 8-10, my 7i only goes about 140ish (my driver goes around 230). That puts me in the White tees for most courses.
That said, if a person hits long, but is wildly inaccurate, then it would benefit them to move up.
letsgobrooksy
I feel like that’s just encouraging men with egos to play from the tips so they don’t feel like they’re playing from the “woman’s tees”
Complex_Bet7311
I don’t care as long as you keep up with the group in front of you.
jpmorgue_silverfixer
The thoughtless will always ignore the sign. The thoughtful like a driving distance and a handicap recommendation.
Whatswrongwithme666
I’m 52 and I only hit my driver 250 but I’m a single digit handicap. I’m not playing from the tips ever again in my life.
WHSRWizard
I still maintain the best approach would be to put colored flags on the drivingvrange that correspond to the correct tees to play. Hit 5-10 drives and you should play the color of the flag that you easily and consistently clear.
jacobsever
I prefer suggestions based on driving distance over handicaps.
As a low digit handicapper that barely drives the ball 250, (and sometimes barely 200 if I’m hitting into wind) I have absolutely NO business playing the tips. Or anything longer than like 6600 yards at sea level.
MetalHead_Literally
My issue isn’t my length, it’s my mid to short game.
ldskyfly
I’m a high handicapper, but I have played enough that I max out my potential to get GIR at about 6300 yards. So I try to play whatever tees are 6100-6300 yards
55gecko
Iron play is my weakness…. I play the tips (6900) and the senior tees (5500) on the same course and see only a 3-5 shot difference in my score. (13.8 hdcp)
Totally depends on the player. If you play fast it doesn’t matter.
DrGrapeist
Should also be on far you hit it. If your a 10 handicap but gotten old and can only drive 200 then maybe you should play the white tees. Then again if you drive it 320 yards but you are a 24 handicap then maybe you shouldn’t play the blacks.
Accountant1984
Play whatever tee you want just keep up the pace.
bcgg
I’ll play whatever tees prevent me from being able to take a wedge into every par 4 if I’m consistent off the tee. I want there to be a chance to use all the clubs in my bag.
FastCheaporGoodPick2
I think it ought to be based on driving distance rather than handicap.
PhilosophyOld6862
What’s the problem?
TheeDragon
You should be able to par the course from the shortest tee box before being allowed to move back.
fauxfarmer17
I really wish there was a standard color code recognized by the USGA and implemented by any club that is rated. Call them whatever you want (forward, middle, back) but make them the same color.
carbonatedcrabcake
I’ve seen guys on the tips who should have been playing from the front tees and vice versa. Labeling them “senior tees” Or “ladies tees” does not help the ego golfers.
op3randi
Most people don’t know their handicap….
StatusMaleficent5832
A lot of people don’t have handicaps established, so I wouldn’t recommend this as a blanket guideline.
The USGA suggests using the distance you can hit a 7-iron to give a recommended course length. For me, that is around 6000 yards and I’ll use the tees that get me close to that distance.
DrunkenGolfer
The tee you should play is not a function of handicap it is a function of how far you hit the ball. I will die on this hill.

Would need to see the yardage to form an opinion.
