going to be in decision time soon man it just feels like for so long we always talk about the Cardinal Way and I think part of the Cardinal Way was being consistent with their decisions and being firm and having a direction and it feels like they’re literally all over the place they’re in a interesting spot here it doesn’t seem like they’re all in and it doesn’t seem like they’re ready to have some sort of retool or rebuild either so they’re caught in the middle and that’s just not where you want to be as a franchise Trevor plof I couldn’t agree with you anymore now let’s revisit my offseason Theory and then I shall build a hypothesis off of these reports and give you the said reports and my hypothesis you heard Chris Rose and Trevor ploof um discussing at Chris Rose from MLB Network back in the day and now he’s got a podcast with Trevor plof so I believe that if the Cardinals felt confident in their television Revenue you would have seen them aggressively change courses with the organization’s Direction in July of 2023 but because they’re uncertain of what the short-term future is for their television revenue and their la longterm future for that television Revenue as a plan is not in place that they feel like they can’t risk a season in which they get down to like two million in attendance even though I still think people would come out I think people might excitedly come out to watch a new generation of Cardinals players and so therefore they held the course and went into what Chris Rose and Trevor plof just said right there this kind of well they’re not really all in but they’re not really rebuilding and they’re just kind of in this what I called it over the offseason this hybrid mode it’s why you saw the short-term contracts and only two players on the current Cardinal roster right now are under contract Beyond 2026 Jackson you wouldn’t happen to know their names would you Sunny gray and Miles michelas no this is a segment that if any talent scouts are listing you said the two pitchers right two players arado and Contreras that’s correct okay I misheard there’s a now maybe maybe I said it you you’ve got me wondering and it’s weird for me not to intriguing piece because you’re s at the bottom of your division you think the division’s pretty dang good it’s a lot of money for a guy that’s you know mid-30s now but the the Rockies are paying down some of this salary this year is 35 million but 5 million is getting paid by the Rockies then it’s 32 5 million paid for the Rockies so you’re paying 27 in 2025 and then it goes down to 27 but the Rockies are paying 5 million and then 2027 it’s $15 million so it’s it’s heading the way you want it to be heading I think a lot of teams would take him on so talking about trading Nolan arado this year if you recall in July of 2023 the Los Angeles Times had a report that even by us talking about we were excoriated for sighting even though it was a credible writer with the Los Angeles Times uh if things go off the rails starting tonight in Milwaukee and things continue to go off the rails in Anaheim you got the Red Sox the Orioles and the Cubs big home stand best home stand of the year I would say if you’re a fan with those three teams coming in and maybe you go okay we’re going to have fans come in here no matter what because we got the Red Sox and Cubs on weekends and you got the Orioles during the week and you don’t get to see them much and they got young exciting offensive players so we’ll let them have this home stand or or do they go okay that’s enough we’re going to make
