Highlights from Round 2 at the Volvo China Open – where Sebastian Söderberg takes a 3 shot lead heading into the weekend.

For the first time since 2019, the Volvo China Open is returning to the DP World Tour schedule at Hidden Grace Golf Club in Shenzhen. Jordan Smith will be teeing it up in China this week. He’s on track to qualify for next month’s U.S. PGA Championship by virtue of his world ranking and performances to start the season. He played well to claim T2 at the Jonsson Workwear Open last month and solo fourth at the Dubai Invitational at the start of the year. He also finished 5T at this week’s venue in Shenzhen in 2019. Tom McKibbin will also be in the field this week. He’s claimed six top-20s so far this season – including a fourth-place finish at the Qatar Masters in February. Sebastian Söderberg will also fancy his chances this week. After claiming his second consecutive runner-up finish on the Asian Swing in Japan, the Swede climbed to eighth on the season-long Race to Dubai Rankings. He also claimed top-10s in Mauritius, Ras Al Khaimah and Bahrain which has put him in prime position to play in next month’s PGA Championship. Others to look out for are Dylan Frittelli, Yannik Paul and Alexander Levy.

thanks Ally this is Soderberg 63 shooter yesterday n under par and that was for a birdie at the six hole yes he’s on quite a bit of form three twos already this week in the first couple of rounds it just shows you how good the iron play is another one in there tight and he’s putting great too this is at the eighth the par three 162 yards it’s playing today that first part we saw by the way was for a par at the fifth not a birdie that was an excellent shot at the eighth and would be good enough for a birdie just seems so solid on the greens it seems so calm at the minute he’s a different Sebastian Soderberg there you see a further evidence of 65 backing up that 63 just beautiful gol it’s a tricky Prospect trying to ignore the elephant in the room of the PGA at Valhalla in two weeks time with forer’s belt so we go down to the live action long gask that’s his third at the fourth so you know a spot of bother in more ways than one as well Anthony yes it’s uh oh that’s a that’s a good stretch that means he’s has a bit of a bad back that’s probably lower back as well I’m glad someone has finally noted that this golf course is quite difficult cuz 60 under par is two good scores and if this quite tight out there you do have to play well there a lot of penalties areas I love that saof finish it’s got complete control that club face there’s the breeze right around the cut line that’s enu Lou the 18-year-old and it looks as though well you can see a little bit of an emotion there he’s going to have to keep his fingers crossed but nonetheless great bounce back and round of 67 today hopefully for his sake it’s enough there you go that’s what it means to a golf pro and a go now the man with a bit of back trouble here he’s got a driver out here in he yeah he’s got a long way to go that’s why boxy 276 yards to a relatively back pin it’s 250 to to cover that front so I would have thought he could get there with a three wi but maybe he’s just feeling like he can’t rotate fully yeah I don’t think he he wants to hit the ball that hard I think he’s just chipping It Forward hoping the antiinflamator work that’s called Talent everybody that’s magnificent I mean you won’t practice many of those you know I think we’re probably going to see it again and you just see how far down the the grip he is here for a bit more more control not quite as long a swing look at he’s well down look how high that is it’s always going to go left to right unless you fat smother it left it’s the half swing chippy driver yeah I tell you what if he could get around 72 today that would be massively impressive okay back to Barr just come off a drop shot on the last hole kirak he’s 17th he’s excellent round the greens and he’s played that nicely it’s not going to be an eagle that is going to be a birdie though for happy barrat 206 yards for hack down Breeze a little bit off the right as well just looking to Cruiser five IR that’s a nice strong move got through that beautifully yeah that was a golf shot and a half there well this is an uphill part for hack it’s going to be relatively slow I can actually see it coming in from both ways so it might be a bit of a double break up over not far straight up and down of the day so far the hack from about 220 yards to Tom McKim he’s one of the favorites Jordan Smith and Soderberg they were all 16 to1 to win this tournament well these three under at the moment yes I suggest he’s not 16 to one minut any being 13 shots behind but that’ll help to Chell down of the eth the par three 162 yards today and that’s an absolute Dart said he was struggling for a lot of the start of the year with balls off the tea oh this does there’s there’s Nigel there’s Nigel it’s a nice bloke you know oh that’s hurting yeah manero’s second shot here at the fifth hole he’s at one over today shot 72 level yesterday dropped shot at the first today oh lovely nice little kick forward ball below his feet natural drawer so that sort of counteracted that that was a stunner yeah it’s not nice co at the ninth third shots par five this hole nice bit of elevation taking the slope into play beautifully played little bit of a down slope over the bunker yeah aggressively through that almost trying to counteract that side slow lope oh it’s a super [Applause] shot can’t quite see that logo on his shirt what does that say o OSG second of manisero L that one up and down does he like that he should do excellent three pretty good shots in there two beauties like and C up next with 159 probably looking to muscle a 99 anything Beyond this flag it actually works away from you so you don’t want to overpower this one superb the whole time graduated through the challenge tour second shot of Yanik Paul at six I think it proves Ally how strong the mind is you know if you he’s swinging it now oh hang on pick that one up yanic PA Lee ready to go he can make birdies in bunches and he certainly needs to get some going I think they like that one this is a little left or right or here maybe just outside the hole Yeah yeah three is 54th at the minute but not worrying that too much at the minute for hon listen to [Music] that wow a lot of leg action again there 234 oh nearly bend it how good was that very I thought I actually thought that was going in I will say Anthony I don’t like the way his shoulders are moving through the ball very flat rather than keeping his spine angle yeah he does have a lot of movement around he’s got quite long arms decided he’s going to play a totally different shot he’s going to use a sand wedge he’s going to play this like a bunker shot the ball’s sitting up pretty darn good he’s not a UPS slope tell you what you better keep your level here otherwise you can get this off the top of the club face kind of a few grooves too high and not get full Value Green is going away from him just wonder could he use the the back stop or not we played one he’s played one good as you could do I think out a rough that there three under par he’s level well that was a nice start playing alongside Co Yanik Paul little further down and Tom M McKibben yeah a couple of good shots in there oh looking to take it in low nice controlled shot oh yeah Beauty it’s a hard shot yeah you got to try and also get a little bit of you know you don’t want that lip coming into play if you catch it too thin should be knocking this one really a little bit left to right lot of dip into his down swing so probably quite hard for him to strike it made a good fist to that one Fang at the 18th for a birdie to finish oh yeah Beauty excellent stuff four amateur allei in this field from uh China aren’t they and look at that four under apart he’s going to be through to the weekend well played this is for par and uh at four under par certainly can’t afford drop two needs to get this down in two which is a tall task yeah I think he’ll do well to two put this the line’s good how’s the Judgment stunning it was a putt all the way Anthony yeah I agree with you Joe it definitely was a [Applause] putt s SWAT took the Volvo China open at the end of last year this is fourth though oh and what a time to do it you’re saying there’s still a chance one more of those down the last worth another [Music] look and he currently holds a three shot lead a different Prospect isn’t it for Sebastian Soderberg last week he kept saying I’ll take it given I’ve got a few loose ones in there off the tea this week it feels as though everything’s going right for this weed we’ll see how he fares this weekend at the Volvo China open out in
