Most welcome Izzy a chief exec and promoter of global boxing management GBM Sports what’s going on this has just come out the blue has it yeah you mentioned Global boxing management we started with global boxing management two and a half years ago three years ago

We started just as a bit of a dream three lad from Sheffield thinking we’re going to go have a go at this boxing business so we actually set off as a management company so a GBM stands for Global boxing management after one show of having one fighter and somebody else

As I said I can do this with me eyes closed long story long stories taught two and a half years lat as I believe we were the fastest growing boxing promotion in Europe if not the world we made insane kind of move strength in two years you know we’ve got Adam Smith on

Board we got talk sport on board listen it’s it’s one of the phrase I used a lot in the last two and a half years of my life is pinch myself moment and we’re in another pinch myself moment so yeah we’re in a really good position and good

To be on a great platform here to showcase our story and break the news what’s coming well you’re you’re most welcome and Adam is your your your first big major signing yeah huge somebody I grew up listening to for years and years been a boxing fan a boxed amateur box

Professionally I’ve owned gyms and and I’ve listened to Adam SP for years to to be sitting and sat next to him now to be official director of broadcasting at GBM it’s a massive move but it’s also a testament to what we’ve done in two years and which direction we’re going

Because this is a man and you know we’ve got big big plans and this is the start of something huge to come Adam this is your full-time return to boxing really isn’t it I mean the company I put on some big boxing events this year already in Sheffield in the Midlands cards being

Streamed live on the to sport Boxing YouTube channel the audience is there they can’t get enough of it I think it’s fantastic and I really really like what Izzy and the team are doing there’s passion there’s Drive there’s commitment there’s something fresh something new

And I want to be a part of it it’s uh it’s lovely to have been asked um I feel honored and uh Izzy and I have known each other for for a while um he’s infectious he’s charismatic he was a former fighter uh he knows how Fighters

S of should be treated um I’ve taken a role at Summit Sports um as their director of boxing talent to look after athletes closer and I wanted to do some help or advice on the promotional side as well and uh you know I’ve worked alongside matcham and Queensbury and

Boxer and and and the sains and everybody over the years but there was uh there was something that really attracted me to to Izzy I went to uh work on the first uh commentary back was for GBM Sports up in Sheffield I was blown away by by the show know the big

Production the fact that fans were staying from from the beginning to the end and uh yeah they’re not all the big names yet but they’re young prospects there’s 50/50 fights going on everyone was entertained there was a a real big event feel it took me back to the days

Of of of Eddie and and when he sort of joined us with with sky and we went from Leisure centers to Arenas you know everyone was having a great time in the in the Arenas and that was coming through flying through the the TV and on the radio people celebrities started

Coming out people started talking about boxing again and look I look at Izzy and the team there’s a really nice connection as well with Mitch Castello as well who’s working alongside Izzy because I worked with his dad many many years ago at Sky and tragically we we

Lost Lee very young and and we were really close and Mitch was a young boy at the time and now he’s you know one of the main guys at GBM Sports so that was a real personal story for me um really like what Izzy’s trying to do love the

Team there’s a there’s a a professionalism to the team and there’s a young passion and drive they want to go to the top and I want to be part of it and I want to help just advise and and and maybe use some of my experience

Just to guide them a little bit along the road but they’re putting the big shows on you know not only sheffi centry we’re going back to to Sheffield the plans of of shows in London and going to Ireland and around the UK and the Train’s going and uh listen I’m you’re

He you know we’ve got so many boxing promoters and we know who they are they’ve been around for a while is there room for another is there room for you yeah Adam says there is there’s no one like me in the game you know one one big

Factor of me is I’ve been in the ring I understand the fighters emotionally financial problems of Fighters everything they go through I know I can relate to it so when I do a deal with a fight I understand what they’re going through I know it been a fighter I’ve

Been had bad deals from promoters and I want to get away from that stigma where promoters aren’t looking after the fighters it’s a new breed of promotion we’re bringing I understand it and just that drive it’s not just me everybody in our team’s got a more bigger Drive than

Financial drive and financial only gives you a certain element of motivation when you want it more than money it’s some different and that’s what we want so why are your values different from the lights of her or Warren or others I wouldn’t like to say different I I’m

Just me I don’t ever compare myself to anybody we just go with those my first interview two years ago IFL TV I said I’m going to be one of the biggest promoters in British boxing and they must have thought I’m insane I probably am insane to a certain degree but that’s

Fine good yeah we genuinely believe that and what makes the difference is we understand the fighters me personally I understand the fighters I’ve been an amateur boxer I’ve been a professional boxer I’ve been around the game people say I’m new to the game I’ve been in

This game for 22 years I made me amateur debut in 2002 yeah so I’m relatively new to the promotion game but I bring that perspective and also I’ve got a lot of business experience I set me first business up when I was 15 years old and

I don’t believe you get a lot of promoters who know business well but they don’t understand the fighting ele element you get a lot of Fighters who know fighting but don’t understand the business I bring it both to the table I generally do is it here’s the thing

We’ve got somebody in here who knows business pretty well what do you make of this Mr Simon Jordan listen of course there’s a space of course there’s a space I mean the intellectual Capital some would argue about some of the decisions that maton raid and certainly

Some of the decisions that boxer made is Adam Smith so it’s a wise move you know to have Adam involved in the focus and of course there’s a the industry is going through a lot of changes I watch it from the outside and potentially from

The inside and some of it I like and some of it I don’t like and it’s very fragmented and it’s sometimes quite immature and it’s often personality L the from the promoted side of things and we’ve seen the recent opportunities that the Saudi money has created that

Everyone can now play nicely with one another because someone’s putting a huge paycheck in the middle of the table and concentrating everybody’s minds but the industry is growing again and it’s igniting again and live and live attendances at at fights in all levels are at a certain level so I certainly

Think if you’ve got the energy the Vitality in the commercial nouse this industry lends itself to an opportunity and no one’s dominating it matum are doing really well but they’ve had their troubles they moved from Sky to to to the zone and that’s not been the most

Wonderful of marriages you know you look at what Frank’s doing ultimately he looks like the gatekeeper now because he’s opened the door to Saudi and all the revenues are there but that would be cyclical so you now look at an opportunity if you’ve got a young Dynamic hungry lean business has the

Understanding of its industry and adopts all the different facets and foibles of understanding the fighters mentality whether it’s from Academy mentality getting them from the Cradle to the Grave lifetime value understanding what a fighter means and being able to build through with them everything comes down

To money in the end because the more money you get the better Fighters you’re going to get the better you’re going to be able to monetize yourself and the better platforms you’re going to be able to build towards but I welcome it I think it’s greats absolutely Fair see

Adam what can this become I think it can become anything I think it’s a real opportunity um I’ve really enjoyed working with uh with Frank with with Eddie with Ben over the years and as Simon said you know I’ve I’ve worked very closely with them and and they’ve

Done brilliantly well but this this is a new opportunity this is somebody in izy who as he says was a fighter he was an athlete and I’m I’m very close to athletes and I and I look at how they’ve been sort of looked after over the years

I want to give back I want to help um you know holistically and and I think mental health is a big thing I think the way that that Fighters go for their careers is really tough and hard and so I want to give back to that which is why

I joined o at’s Summit but I think with Izzy I think there’s a a real opportunity to to do things in in a real transparent way in a real good way um for example you know the Grassroots element has really attracted me to Izzy he’s very very keen on the young uh

Amateurs and and how they come through and how they’re treated and and how that gives a chance to a promotional platform right we’re on talk sport GBM Sports have made some fantastic signings recently like sha Thompson like Kieran Malloy there’s some some really good Fighters coming on board and I think

This is the beginning of a really really interesting Journey no you know I he looks up to Eddie and Frank and I think that’s fantastic I think that he gets that inspiration he doesn’t want to compare himself he wants to be his own person and if I can help that along the

Way alongside a really really interesting group in GBM Sports who putting out fantastic socials they’re making a difference already and at fight nights it’s so it’s fun people are enjoying themselves and they are literally they’re getting there that they they’ve got fights regularly going on they’re being entertained there’s

Some away wins it’s a bit different yeah you don’t haven’t heard of everyone yet but you will start hearing about them and I think there’s momentum and I like promotional companies and any company that have got momentum and drive you you touched on some of there transparency

That’s so important for me like you know I before coming on coming onto the station my team was saying oh you better be preps Simon Jordan Jim watch a big Channel go when you speak the truth you don’t have to worry about anybody’s comment you know your business I’m

Confident in my product worry about I don’t have to worry about Simon I said he can bring it on as much as he wants talking Simon and I just said if you speak the truth and be transparent you don’t have to worry and you can just be

Yourself and that’s what we’ve driven on that’s ethos at GBM and that’s what I carry myself cuz but but nonetheless you’ll face challenges along the way what do you think they are in the short ter I had jim I’ve had handshakes what I’ve got stung for 10 15,000 I’ve had

Fighters pull out on me second show after the Wayne and I know the reason and I’ve gone a lot in Yorkshire we we do contracts with handshakes but that can’t work anymore so we know we’ve got to do do gance and do our contracts in place but we’ve got
