Pet hate of mine yeah um because rushing on the down swing is not a speed thing a lot of golfers think they swing it too fast yeah and a lot of golfers really that we probably work with we’re trying to get more speed we’re trying to get better sequence in more efficiency then
More speed yeah so we need to kind of roll it right back why do you feel like you’re rushing I think that’s the I think the key one is to say okay why do you feel like you’re rushing what do you feel like you’re doing then we can kind
Of make an observation the majority of the time it kind of comes from a trail side moving towards kind of towards the golf ball s you see that a lot the snatchy the snatch you wished one so you see them kind of moving out towards the golf ball then obviously from there then
The kind of the Panic Station of getting the arms back down to the golf ball so I always kind of say golfers will they’ll kind of rotate and lift to the top but then they’ll rotate and drop on the way down as opposed to trying to the
Sequence going up you get the rotation and the height then you release that height and then you get the rotation coming down as a sequence try and give them a bit of a visual as to what they need to try and do so from the top of
The back swing the sequencing of that trail side that right side or where you want to feel at the hand or the club or maybe the pressure in the lower body of just making sure that club just kind of sits itself down the way it came up
Being patient I think uh that’s an important thing to note and funnily enough when players have the perception that they’re rushing their goal swing the first thing that they tend to try and slow down is their back swing but if you try and slow down your back swing
Even more through this stage intuitively you know you still need to send this ball x amount of distance so what happens you go slow low Slow and Low then all of a sudden you’ve shifted off a foot behind the ball and then you okay let’s go yeah and then you’re really
Really out of whack from there yeah I think I think trying to get trying to get the club into a specific point just into that transition is the key that very F almost that first like couple of inches into the down swing yeah just as you can set the club pressure and then
And then clear always feel like the rotation and we get we we hear a lot of golfers and coaches always talk so much about rotation a help you give the with the power but it needs to be sequenced in the at the right time yeah yeah yeah
Correct and I would feel that the uh Sensation that players have here mate when they are rushing their downswing it’s usually at the moment of impact that they feel like they’re up and out of it yeah yeah and the reason that actually happens is because as their
Upper body is firing towards the target the arms get left behind we see this common uh position with a lot of recreational golfers with the hands would be too far behind the body by this section whereas the professional if we keep that body exactly the same and we
Just lower those arms back in front of that right leg there well that’s where they would be and you can see as I begin to Pivot through that’s going to give us that tour look at the moment of impact in front of the chest aren’t they

Very good at identifying the early extension and I I need to stop early extended and I always Google said so yeah exactly she like you got to work back there’s a reason you’re early extended corre like we have to work back you can see the main fault you see it
That’s the obvious fault yeah but there’s a reason that’s happened and a lot of the time as you said when you go you go that way you got to get the club down and you got to get in so it’s a really common fault but like I say it’s
A tricky one to change as well High change I’ve got a great feel that I use with players that I coach I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts is because for the right-hander uh it’s easy to identify that this part of your body in the motion is dominating the
Downswing I actually get them to just bring awareness to the back of their right shoulder and for me this also ensures that they’re getting enough rotation in the back swing but also being patient enough in the downswing so they are not rushing it and that would
Be that if the back of the right shoulder right now is facing up towards the sky my objective is to get it facing the Target and keeping it facing the target for as long as I can yes right and as I do that because you are coiling
And pivoting in the back swing you will naturally create a bit Dynamic flow Y where it feels like that Golf Club has so much time to come down because if the back of the right shoulder is always facing the target well at some stage something’s got to give the going to
Come what are your thoughts on that I try and get so from if you take yourself up to the top I’m going to jump in I’m going to move you around right so from here I often try and get players to feel at this elbow just so
You got the seam of your T-shirt just works on the stomach side there so similar to you you’re keeping the keeping that back towards the Target still but you’re bringing the hands now back in front of your chest but it’s not I think a lot of people think when you

You’ve just done there maintain the Ang angle here but almost feel like you’re extending the right arm unloading tra alarm down in front of the chest then from here you get your get that turn through and we see see players like Justin Rose for example you’ll see him
Get to the top a lot of tool players do this and they have this sort of unloading look of their arms underneath and that is because from beginner all the way to professional one of the most common issues for p ball striking is the fact that they get out of sequence right
If you relate it to something like swimming in a pool we might have the same power as someone who is able to swim consider faster and the reason we don’t is cuz our sequence is out yes exactly efficiency sequence it all comes it all lead It All Leads us to being
Able to swim to swim faster swing faster and be be more efficient in the water on the course okay so Rose does a fantastic I love Rosy’s driver Jo he does something very similar he really exaggerates him actually puts the club head on the ground yeah and stays with
His back to Target Club heads on the ground then he rotates it all the way through yeah such a good one cuz you kind of really drag in the Club through you’re transitioning you’re pressuring into that lead side and at the same time like you said we’re getting into the
Right sequence yeah yeah yeah and I did some videos last week with humar and we did a whole video series on this here so no matter where you are around the world there’s one of the most common errors no matter what level of golfer you are is that players are rushing the downswing
That’s the perception of it but essentially it’s just a lack of sequence between the body the arms and the club correct okay mate so what I’m going to do is I’m going to blend our feels together I’m going to get the back of my right shoulder keeping facing the target
I’m going to feel like this arm is lowering in front of the seam line of the shirt that’s the checkpoint I’m not dragging it in at all we don’t want to do that the arms are feeling like they get lower down in front of me we can see
How the mass of the club here moves behind let’s do one more little rehearsal of that then we’ll hit one out there so back that’s it down all right let’s see how it comes out as expected PES it every time
