It’s amazing to see how much technology has evolved!
When my grandfather passed away in 1993, I found a set of clubs in his attic that he had back in the 30's. It still had balls and tees in it from those days. He had given up golf and my father (Who was a very decent golfer in his prime)didn't even know the clubs existed. I wanted to put them in a place and hang onto them but decided before I did I would play a round with them. It was the most humbling experience on a golf course I have ever had. I saw quickly why Grampa gave the game up. But it was super fun to give it a go. I still have that set and bring it out occasionally to show friends.
At age 76 even a Pro V1 goes like a feathery. 😆
Start using those 1895'ers. You dunked it twice! lol.
Feathery balls.
I'm curious to know how much those balls and the iron cost!
I think the 1950s ball broke because of how old and brittle it was not the quality of the ball!
Great video showing old vs new.
Love your videos dude!
Matt, this was hands-down, my personal favorite video that you’ve ever done. I’d love to see you do this same test with modern balls. ie the titleist lineup, Srixon, Callaway etc etc it would be neat to see all the real differences. Thank you so much for the video. It was awesome.
I found a ball that was perfectly smooth. It went 65yds with a 6i
I'm pretty sure there is a farmer in Vietnam who has leather, feathers, and time to produce these.
MSG Mfg Feather Ball Leader since 2024
Should have used reproduction balls. A ProV1 will probably be just as brittle/hard in 100 years.
It makes you appreciate what players like Old and Young Tom Morris did back in the 1800s. They probably played both the Featherys and and Gutty golf balls during their time.
Matt great show and thanks…Remember that in that days the holes were probably only 85 to 110 yards down the lane…
One of my favorite videos by you to date
Not sure you should go on a journey of using older gear, and milk it for all it's worth
But this one was great, seems like you had a great idea here and put together a great video video for it. 👍
Cool video…. Love then content!
No telling what diseases were just released into the wild cutting that ball open 😂😂 Matt sacrificing himself for us
‘Golfer mysteriously exposed to asbestos after hitting balls.’
You know that ball is gotta be asbestos. They used that crap on everything back then.
True Nike doesn't make balls anymore, but Vice Golf makes black golf balls.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
A really fun video. When you hit the featherys in the winter do they always fly south?
Gene Sarazen basically invented bounce btw!
You should try hickory golf… it is a blast… I have been playing hickorys exclusively for the past year and a half and I now enjoy the game more than I have the past 30 or so years…
