Good stuff! Shoes are so hard to figure out. Thanks for the recommendations.
Oh man.. those original Reebok all-terrains. I had like 3 pairs of those once upon a time. What total garbage those shoes were
I will say.. I am a fan of the VJ shoes. That special outsole is great in all conditions but longevity is a problem.. especially if you're doing any running on roads.
I fell in love with VJShoes this year. Crazy grip.
Love my Saucony Peregrines. Great traction.
Love seeing you guys…ALWAYS!😇
I love the altra Superiour's now. Amazing shoe but sucks for sidewalk training. My first shoe was the Merrell Allout Terra Light. Both are amazing. For me lighter the better with max drainage. I want to try the Atra King MT2 next. Everyones different. Great vid
Finally a new video! 😀 thanks for all the advice and fun commentary
You guys are awesome. This is the first OCR shoe/boot review that I've found to be genuinely helpful. And I'm glad I'm not the only person who's been through a whole bag (or box) of footwear, trying to find a pair of OCR shoes/boots that matches the one brand I liked that got discontinued. For Damer – I'm with you on needing a shoe with good grip and padding that lasts (without any weird pinch-points). You might want to try the Hoka One One Speedgoat 3. I used the Speedgoat 3 for my last three Spartan Beasts (in dirt, mud, mountains – you name it) and it kept my achilles tendon, calf soreness, and other leg/foot problems down to a minimum – despite a LOT of trail training miles….unfortunately, it's out of stock everywhere that I've looked….and I'm hoping this model hasn't been discontinued….
Salomon Speedcross 5! Its the best OCR shoe I have ever worn. And like you guys I have spent alot of money on trying to find the right shoe. Keep up the good work guys!!
do you guys forget the incredible race shoes: INOV8 X-talon 210? Insane grip in the mud. water floats out realy fast. Nice vid as always! Saw last weekend in the OCR Series in germany almost half of the elite wave race in this shoes. even much normal Series athletes racing in this set of shoes.
Check these out, Mack. I stumbled across these the other day. I've never worn Hoka's…thought of you when I saw this.https://www.hokaoneone.com/men-view-all/tor-ultra-hi-2-waterproof/192410576128.html?utm_source=facebookinstagram&utm_medium=soc_rt&utm_campaign=DPA&utm_content=23843803253860103&fbclid=IwAR2USmzhXUzItBPKtk0GORs3wBlN6CJ5QN89MbUiVHj0RODO7c6V55uByB0
PF is the worst, I have that plus heel spurs, I stick to my salomon speed cross but I haven't found anything that helps with the pain. Enduring the suck! Ready for another season 2020 getting that NJ buckle!
You guys every try Hoka? I picked up the Speedgoat 3 last year, and the cushion and the grip is amazing!
Thank you guys for keep it real. It's such a complicated topic.
Try some Hoka Hoka ones ( speedgoat, Evo mafate)
I've used the Salomon Speedcross 3s for 4 years now, almost 20 races/multiple trifectas including Killington and Owl's Head, plus hundreds of miles of trail running/White Mountains/Mt. Washington hikes and they were amazing. I sold them to my friend for $30 because the tread and general durability was still amazing. Only downside for me was that they are a little heavy. Trying the Speedcross 5s, 30 grams lighter than the 3s, almost identical tread pattern. This is definitely a hot topic in Facebook groups and Damer is definitely a classic case of not finding the right shoe. I lucked out and have been hooked on them and always recommend them.
Excellent video as usual. We all struggle with shoe selection. I wear normal trail running shoes, but am thinking about ankle support.
How about Nike Pegasus Trail 36? With the Goretex??
About 5 years ago I invested in waterproof orthotics I can put them in any shoe. I have the Altra mid-mesh for beasts and Ultras and Hoka trail shoes for shorter spartan distances and pure trail runs.
My son & I have totally flat feet 🦶 . The best pair I found for us when we train & do OCR’s
is Merrell’s All Out Blaze ! Perfect water drainage, grip & weight .
Can't wait to get back out to the races (and normality again).
Imelda Marcos over here! 🙂
Thanks for the video. I am also looking for a good mid to high boot type to switch to. I am looking for more support. I am currently running in Salomon Speedcross 4. I like the cushion and they aren't too heavy even after getting water logged. I do wish they drained better. The tread is aggressive and has great grip on pretty much everything. Have either of you tried Salomon Ultra 3 Mid? Thoughts on them? How do the compare to Altra ? Thanks guys! Keep the videos coming!
The new balance Fresh foam crag trail is the shoe I wish someone would talk about. I purchased it before my first ocr literally the day before and it was the only trail runners they had at dicks that day. I wore them for 3 more ocr's that season(trifecta) and they were the best bang for the buck(50$). Very good grip and very comfy. Con was the heel is big and they aren't the best for very uneven terrain. I would recommend them for beginners who do not want to spend 150 before they know what they are getting themselves into
Saucony makes a good trail shoe. I can't wear Salomon, Merrell felt ok, but the Saucony is where I found my favorite shoes. I have the Peregrine and Koa ST shoes.
Bonjour j'aurais une question à vous demander svp ???
