TENS of thousands of golf fans are desperately trying to secure tickets for the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Limerick, this Friday.
Residents from the island of Ireland could get early access to tickets, via an exclusive priority window, at 11am. The full public ballot for fans from the rest of the world is then set to open on Wednesday June 3.
At 12pm, when Limerick Live logged on, the website stated that there were approximately 54,600 people ahead in the queue.
One person contacted Limerick Live to say they had been left “very worried” about getting tickets.
“I registered with the Ryder Cup over a year ago. I registered for tickets in February. During the week I got the link for the sale of Irish tickets.
“I logged on this morning at 10.50am. The website allowed me into the lobby and then at 11am it moved me ‘online’. There were 28,600 ahead of me and now 42 minutes later there are 13,500 ahead of me,” they said.
Access codes are only valid for one transaction and allow a person to purchase up to four tickets per day.
The golf fan said he had seen online that some people had got tickets but he is “very worried”.
“I was born in the area and worked in Adare when I was younger. It’s one of the biggest sporting events in the world right on our doorstep so fingers crossed,” he told Limerick Live.

Another individual who joined the queue at 11am – and who had 51,500 people ahead of him at 11.06 – secured his ticket at 12.41pm (picture below).

They told Limerick Live: “I got them! I didn’t think it was looking good but after one hour and 40 minutes I was able to purchase them. I can’t wait now and hopefully we’ll have weather like this!”
The 100th anniversary of the Ryder Cup will take place at Adare Manor from September 13-19, 2027.
