Has r/livgolf always been private or is that a new development?
Edit: sorry not private but need approval to post/comment.
RIP Bozo
Lol, lmao even. Now if they can give up on manipulating football to, I’ll be very happy.
CNBC says “The season is continuing as planned.” Which I thought was interesting. Damage control?
The story is certainly taking on a life of its own right now. If they did shutter after this weekend’s Mexico event it would be *wild* times.

Why is there a megathread. I want to see more and more separate threads.
Rick Sheila sold his soul for this
Man brooks and reed really were playing 4d chess. Super interesting to see how Rahm, Bryson and cam are treated after they turned their noses up at the offer from PGAT

Oh boy, without those two LIV tournaments at the President’s golf courses, the Saudis will have to find other ways to funnel money into his pockets.
What happened to the merger ?
I’m actually glad LIV happened. It showed us who actually loves golf, versus those who are just in it for the fame and fortune.
All the YouTubers should buy LIV
LIV golf killed off and Rory winning the Master’s again. Incredible week for him and the PGA LOL.
League is more chopped than Jamal.
Wanted to go to the NJ event in LIV but I’ll save my money now.. one story I did enjoy from LIV was Anthony Kim winning an event

Just please end already so I can go back to watching all the best golfers play on the tour
LIV was an expensive gamble from PIF that almost worked. They always knew LIV would be a loss making enterprise but they were hoping to strong arm their way into having a seat at the table and ultimately having some or total control over the future of the tour.
Initially, when a few of the big names jumped ship it looked like they’d get their way but, ultimately the PGA tour played this really well. They were firm on the players who left, they entertained the merger talks and then simply waited for the hype to die out.
LIV had lots of weak points, but it had some good ones too. It was a really fun fan experience and it took star players all over the globe. It simply wasn’t a format that worked on TV though, and that’s what killed it. Even for Saudi pockets, running a venture that hemorrhages hundreds of millions of dollars each year is a non runner
How did LIV’s “superstar” Bryson miss the cut at The Masters when Augusta is only a par 67 for him?
The traitors no integrity league is about to fall, thank goodness.
Exit interviews to be held this fall in Turkiye
This seemed inevitable especially considering Reed and Brooks leaving. They essentially tried to use this league to force the PGA into a merger. At the end it did result in a lot more money being brought into golf as it forced the PGA to really up there funding and brought more money into the sport. I do feel bad for the Aussie fans who by all accounts had a good thing going with their LIV events. Hopefully the PGA will see an opportunity and add a couple more international events to their schedule. Will be interesting to see how the PGA handles bringing players back in if it comes to that. One thing that would be nice would be seeing them go back to 125 tour cards with the added competitive pool coming back in.
Ok so how much is it going to buy it? We are 1.6 million strong and some of us even have jobs. r/golf Tour has a ring to it.
How will Phil pay off his gambling debts?
Trump has given the US such a pathetic and terrible world standing that the Saudis feel they no longer need to waste money on sport washing their image. I’m only half kidding.
Finally we get Gooch
LivGolfNation deleting their twitter account like a bitcccchhhh 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Surely the PIF “investment“ in LIV is not about pro golf as we understand it today? Is it not a marketing budget for other things, and in the hope that in the long term, pro golf has a global presence (that’s not the PGA Tour)? As the golf channel said earlier, the PGA Tour is a media rights business and not “just a sport” (I kid you not).
Although PIF already sponsor many golf events in the USA, so maybe they go that route instead?
I also find it interesting that so many people have an opinion on a ‘Tour’ that no one watches. And people complain about the hasbeens who play on it. Never mind the other US investments PIF has that doesn’t seem to bother anyone. It’s curious is it not?
The writing was on the wall for a while now, especially more so now with the Iran war. PIF understood LIV wasn’t going to increase tourism to Saudi or improve their reputation. Might as well bring that money back to the Kingdom because the tourism fantasy bubble has probably burst for good anyways
all players who wish to return must first play three years of professional croquet

the PIF will continue to fund LIV Golf for the ‘foreseeable future’ with the 2026 season continuing as planned. Senior executives and players have been advised today’s reporting is inaccurate.
LIV Golf’s social team shared this graphic letting everyone know the Mexico event is still on.
They saw Bryson on the 18th at The Masters on Friday and were like, “Yep. That’s it. It’s over.”.
Couldn’t happen to a better group of people. Real shame!

Damn, what’s our boy Rick Sheils gonna do??
Very disappointed, as I withdrew several thousand dollars out of my 401k to buy Cleeks gear.
If LIV is going to shut down there’s no reason to wait for the end of the season.
If the writing is on the wall, all the players who can will bail to DP World so they can regain status ASAP. So we’ll be left with only the worst players on a really bad tour already.
Send all those bums back to the Korn Ferry. They won’t mind getting smoked by 21 year olds since they all got the bag. They should all have to wear a dunce cap too.
Hopefully there isn’t one
Couple players retire (DJ, Cam Smith, few others), many players from S. America, EU, Asia, Africa, Australia go to DP. Rest rejoin PGA. PGA outlines criteria for rejoining. Pay a fine, forfeit all previous status and benefits from previous wins, possibly spend time on Korn Ferry for some, require play in majority of tournaments for the first two years (not just signature events and majors like Cognizant, Valspar, Myrtle Beach, ISCO).
Is it actually going away? I haven’t seen any definitive reporting yet, just that it will carry on as planned per CNBC despite earlier reports pointing to the contrary. Would love to watch the best players back on the PGA tour and the mediocre/end of their career players go away
Na na na na na na na hey hey hey goodbye!
