Testing the new Wilson DYNAPWR Max+ against the PING G440K in the ultimate cheap vs expensive forgiveness test.

We put both drivers head-to-head in the studio and on the launch monitor to see which one really keeps your ball in play, ball speed, launch, spin and dispersion.

Is the “budget” Wilson secretly as forgiving as the premium Ping… for almost half the price? 👀

Let us know in the comments: Team Wilson or Team Ping?

Welcome to H.I.T Golf Reviews – the home of honest, independent and trustworthy golf equipment reviews.

If you want straight-talking advice on drivers, irons, wedges, putters, golf balls and golf tech, you’re in the right place. Every review is based on proper testing, launch monitor data and real on-course experience – not marketing slides.

We test all the big names (TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Titleist, Mizuno, Cobra and more) plus the direct-to-consumer brands you’re starting to hear about. New vs old, budget vs premium, “forgiving” vs “players” – we put them head-to-head so you can see what actually performs.

Our testing is built around launch monitor data (GCQuad) and real-world shots, but we always explain the numbers in normal-golfer language. No fluff, no hidden agendas – just whether a club will help your game or not.

Whether you’re:
buying your first proper set,
a mid-handicapper looking for more forgiveness, or
a low-handicap player chasing that perfect combo of feel and distance,

H.I.T is here to help you pick the right gear for your swing, not just the newest thing on the shelf.

Why H.I.T exists:
To cut through the hype.
To give golfers the truth.
To save you time, money and a few golf balls.
To make the game a bit easier – and more fun.

  1. I really wanted to buy Wilson (had their irons and hybrids for years), but they still don’t have a mini driver in their lineup. Went for the Elyte mini amd put an old Wilson head cover on it 😅

  2. Wilson vs Takomo £130 difference but that must be the closest comparison in this area of the market

  3. Nothing sells Golf Clubs like a Huge Name, and the Huge Name winning.
You could take this years Wilson lineup and put Taylormade or Titleist on it, and they would sell like Crazy!

  4. Saying it’s ’missed a fairway’ like it’s the clubs fault. Show us the face and path, and then the strike location. Then we know if it’s you or the club. You have such a big following you will make or break clubs – review fairly!

  5. Do you think both of those drivers would produce the same numbers for me with a swing speed of 88 mph ?
    Thanks Rick

  6. Thanks on the review. Been waiting for this one. On the wilson you can also get the linq blue shafts no upcharge on a fantastic shaft as well. A winning combination for $499 here in the states

  7. Wilson need a relaunch. I LOVE the brand but anyone that has grown up with Wilson will know that logo from a £99 package set at Argos or a £249 package set from AG and now want to charge 449 for a driver. They had it right when they went back to “Wilson staff” for a while. Such a shame

  8. Wilson was my first clubs that i played. It was a womens sgi set of my girlfriend. I played them for a year. I swapped to taylormade but the irons of wilson will always look best.

  9. It's hilarious! You miss the fairway and blame the club. It's your fault! The club doesn't give a sh☆t where the ball goes. It's just doing what you told it to do!

  10. The ventus shaft you like might not be a good match for all these heads you're testing. Should test stock shafts close to your preferred flex and weight.

  11. Have to try out the Wilson new range of irons £300 cheaper than majority of other offers, and look really good

  12. And there lies the problem, golfers accepting £430 is regarded as cheap. It would be good for everyone to just stop buying these stupidly priced clubs or they will just keep pushing the prices up and up, these companies must be laughing all the way to the bank, if paying more for clubs makes you a better golfer then why aren’t all multi millionaires scratch golfers.

  13. No matter how forgiving drivers are, they’re not magic wands… bad shots are still going to be just that. This isn’t a dig at Wilson specifically it’s drivers and golf clubs in general

  14. I get Wilson isn’t a big brand but their irons are so underrated why not try out their driver during a fitting

  15. redo your analysis on the Cobra…. Not the driver but the adapter. That adapter is game changing and you kinda brushed it off.
