I’ve Been Lying to Myself… Until I Played a Tour Pro
I thought my game was in a good place…I thought I knew what real golf looked like…Then I played a match against a former DP World Tour professional and everything changed.
In this video, I go head-to-head with elite-level golf, and the gap was eye-opening. Not just distance. Not just ball-striking. But decision-making, pressure control, short-game precision, and course management

Don’t forget to like this video if you enjoyed it! If we get over 1K likes we can get Tom back on the channel!
Have to agree. I don't like hearing "Ooh, I thought I had that ….." In my book, it either is or isn't, there's no "it was so close!" Miss by an inch, miss by a mile.
And long/broomhandles should be banned
When you first started talking about getting on tour I couldn't believe what I was hearing but you're much better than I thought. Open Qualifying will give you a sense of how you stack up against some of our best amateurs (and some of our worst professionals). How did you get on last year?
He should get back on tour 🏌🏿
Your possibly better than a scratch golfer, but a definite rabbit at divot replacement 😂😂
Listening to you on this video Alex, you were abit negative on yourself with some of your shots. Get more positive in your mind. You seem to be defeated after you hit your first shot. When you play Competition, dont worry about how the other players are hitting the ball, just worry about your game. Change your mindset & get better at 150 yards into the green. You can do this! 😊
My home course, not a bad spot
Back in the day I was coached by Gavin Christie, best piece of advice he ever gave me and still holds true today. From 100 yards in, you have to be a magician, end of lesson. That’s where 95% of your practice should be.
Manchester is not very forgiving when you get off line with the driver
Alex what's going on,the subs are returning the favor and giving you tips on your game, you have to chin up and get grinding, good luck 💪
What a drama. Too much tension.
That’s long driving in those conditions! Wow.
Let's go Alex!!!
Enter some local pro events and see your 4 round scores. Unless you are 10 under or better it's a pipe dream. Speaking from stats.
I was fooling myself into my 20's thinking I played tennis really well. Then I met a guy who played in college who said he never had anyone to play that lasted more than couple weekends. He was not a pro but I got a taste of what it was like to see a tennis ball change shape because it was spinning so fast at over 100mph. I lasted 3 weekends and returned no more than 2 serves each time we played. That was it, I lasted longer than others but it wasn't anything to brag about.😂

Great golf, love seeing these kinds of matches.
Crazy how some dudes just have moved on with their lives and don't even think about golf, but put a club in their hands and they are instinctively just better than you'll ever be even when you think about golf nonstop every day.
Why doesn't he play?.I'm guessing but I would say.he burned out from competition and it's hard to see those you played with or were better than have success.
supercoach here Alex. having a supermassive mental advantage is where you were beaten. you kissed ass way too much and you put yourself on a lesser tier. hence you got toasted……….the killer Alex needs to stand front and center….and a crash course in toughening the top 3 inches……you're in this to win…..not to make pals…..you need to be able to look through your opponent…..look forward to seeing these changes
Golf is neurotic factory
Great to see you playing our course. How did u find it?
What driver is Tom hitting , sounds unreal nice dull crack ( although it’s probably the way he’s hitting it 😂)
machine gun vs slingshot, but alex your short game is good, but your friend is good on everything…good video Alex
Tom made Golf in those conditions look easy!
Some player isn’t he. Makes golf in any condition look easy. Better luck next time Alex 😎
Nice!
Totally relate to practice and then getting out on the course. So frustrating
Fun to watch guys, and instructive as well
Great video from South Africa 🇿🇦
Alex – You must do more of these! Wasn’t going to watch, but, damn! glad I did! I learned & picked up so much from watching the playing & especially the valuable banter between you guys – it was incalculable! Bring on more! 👍🍸👏🍺👌🥃
Why 6 holes? Is there some history to 6 hole match play iam not aware of?
Tom Murray seems like a thoroughly nice fellow and he should be back out on the circuit. I can only imagine how brutal the circuit is, but what a talent. Alex, you're still too chatty (I am allowed to say that because I'm a chatty myself), but you're getting better — form, accuracy, judgement. Looks good, Mate. (Just stop chatting and concentrate).
Thanks for visiting Alex. Great watch.
Great watch @alexelliottgolf. Thanks for the coverage. Hope to see you again
Is it just natural coordination that allows a player to not play for extended time, then go out and play well? I have a cousin that does it all of the time… only after playing and practicing for 6 to 8 wks can I play even with him… he is a natural 5 to 7 hdcp and I am a natural 18, that gets to around 7 or 8 by end of summer. Wish I could maintain.
Dan Grieve was talking about winter putting the other day. He says the greens play heavier and with less break. Hit them firmer and straighter than usual. All the best, mate!
Chin up Alex, Tom is a top player , some people are just unbeatable . 100 years ago back in my assistant days I could never beat the other assistant 🤬, also is that a rombax shaft in your driver 🤔 great vlog 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I will give you guys all sorts of credit for playing by the unofficial, but locally accepted, rules of golf. It’s a 2 shot penalty for a lost ball. Most golf channels just take a 1 shot penalty.
Kudos for you for doing it properly!
You need some practice replacing your divots back into the ground properly…
Stick to teaching dude. You have no chance making the tour😂
Really enjoyed that.
What a quality guy Tom is. He should be on your channel more often Alex,he’s an awesome addition
Enjoyed the video. Tom's a straight shooter. You did well young man ,dont stop. You've got a good game.
good you learned it at an age to make a change in your game..strive to be that pro
Step on your divots when you put them back sir
Tom was able to just Relax, you couldn’t because you were creating content. Easier for Tom, so don’t be too harsh on yourself…..mind you, Tom is v v good at the game on this video😊. He also talked through shots, impressive calm focus.
Tom’s tempo is blissful, wow….
Great video. Like to see gentlemen golfing.
I'm a 5 and think on a good day I could beat 75% of YouTube hackers by carding a 74.
