Now it’s advantage Mroy and he knows it. Time to send it. Lovely high ball flight fading a little bit and absolutely perfect. It was sent. Who is your winner? Is it going to be Rory Mroy? Is it going to be Patrick Reed? So, a little right to left and then it just wants to creep back the other way. Smooth. Don’t hear him shouting at it. He’s done pretty good. That’s a very good fist of that putt there. How about that for a birdie to go back ahead of Reed? It’s not a given. What this putt does from the low side versus the high side is a little different. Not an easy read. Not a problem though for Mroy. He is back in front with just the 18th to play. Come on. A fantastic utility club into the 10th. What a shot. What a shot. Right on line. Right over the top of the flag stick. Still in this. Sit. Oh my goodness. Sit. Sit. Sit. Sit. Sit. Sit. He’s concerned about the hazard that you can’t see the penalty area. Oh. just short of it. Inches away. Wow. Could only see about the top three or four dimples of that golf ball. Whoa. So, the Eagle Park for Reed this post at 19 under. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Just had to tickle it down there, didn’t he? And hope for the best. It’s a bulge at 16. And it really cost them. Reed for Birdie at the last to get to 18 under back alongside Mroy. Yeah, what a final round that is from Patrick Reed. There were some sensational shots in there and he has shot 65 on Sunday and he has set the target at 18 under. Well, somebody had to push him and the pins were tough. 196 seems a lot of loft. Can’t get over there. He’s almost in the penalty area. Laying up to his favorite yardage. Well, of course, he will have known what he has to do and figured out what’s the best way in his opinion he can make birdie from there. can hold this one up and give it a little air time into that breeze. And he might even get a little bit of action on it. [Applause] Fine shot given the circumstances. He has a look at the puck to win. Rory Maroy to win this title for the third time in his career. [Music] And he’s done it. Wonderful stuff from Mroy. And what a start to the year. A winning start with a birdie birdie finish. And he has captured the Hero Dubai Desert Classic for the third time. Oh, Sad at the end. Oh, that’s a shot and that’s a cheer. Beautiful shot from he responded to the pressure situation. What a beautiful one that Well, that’ll change his whole head. Got a BDI on this one, I can tell you that. [Music] Just as you suspected, Mark, don’t get scared of him. Yeah, suddenly this tournament’s changed. That one shot from Rory means that he is absolutely in the zone now. And suddenly Russell Knox looks a little worried. If this goes in, there’ll be a roar. Will [Music] roar. They were ready to go. It’s going to be a very easy birdie for Mroy. Firm and straight. He can’t miss as you suspected. [Applause] It’s a boi six for Knox. He’s back to nine under par. Rory hits the front again. It’s a birdie four at the 16th. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him end up fairly near when this stuff comes to rest. Need to fly it over there, [Music] though. Down the shaft is nudging it forward to take some of the spin off it. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] 114 for Knox. The gauntlet has been laid down. He does not have a choice to play away with Mroy in there close and being one behind. Ends up being good. needed to carry another four yards or so and it would have come back towards the cup. [Applause] Well, you have to think this is a must make for Russell Knox. It’s a very moist part of the green. I think he’s got to be about a cup and a half outside the right edge. just hopped in the air as it’s coming off the fringe. Can do that sometimes if he’s got to go off the edge of the cliff. He just makes the ball pop in the air. Six and a half footer. Absolutely. It’s so horrible. He hasn’t hold a lot this round. So, he’s absolutely right with it now. Every chance. So close. There’s going to be a cheer at the end of this one. What a shot. What a incredible shot. Absolutely flushed right down the pin. Thank you very much. Well played, Warry. You’re the man. That is the shot of a champion. Raver’s ready to go. And then Maroy just proved too good. And Rory is your champion. tremendous victory adding to his Irish boys title in 04. And here he is with the Irish Open Championship at [Applause] last. Just on the upset here for Raasmus. Two and 10. You would fancy hauling from here. Oh, and he has Raasmus Hygard. An outrageous birdie. Two in a row. He hits the front. Second pull out of the back nine. Let’s not forget special things happen sometimes when you win. Look at this. Wow. Adrenaline’s pumping. He would have seen the scoreboard on the last back flag. It’s almost actually on the back fringe. Can he get all the way back there? Tough thing to do here. Get in the hole. Get in the hole. Yeah. Yeah. You know what? That’s quite a smart play because if he if he pitches it up above the UPS slope, great chance it’ll skip through the back. What a day this man’s had. Five under par at this point. A lovely reception for Raasmus [Applause] Hygaroy to try to get to nine under. Oh, settle down. Settle down. What the heck? Oh my. Burdened by expectations. Huygar. Remember, he’s birded 16 and 17. Yeah, it’s a good putt. That is a good putt. You don’t want to do anything silly. Give it a Give it a a chance, but end with three birdies in a row and regain the lead. Crucial part for Maroy this for par back at 17 to remain within one. Oh my. In the blink of an eye, this championship has absolutely turned on its head. Three birdie finish for Raasmus and a 65 on Sunday. So he sets the target at nine under par. You wouldn’t know those fans are rooting for the other guy, would you? He hasn’t received the memo, has he? If you want to become more popular in Ireland, don’t beat Rory. What a day golfer. What a what a what a round. This needs to find some peace. Finish this one off. So Mary Maroy is going to need to eagle the closing par five to go into a playoff and stand a chance. Four time winner on the DP World Tasmas. His brother’s got three and might just stretch the lead on on his twin. Well, they’re lovely guys though, too. They might be known as the terrible twins in these parts if this goes Raasmus’ way. Wow. I can’t just can’t really believe what you’re seeing here. [Applause] There’s nothing to lose now, is there? He’s been chased all day and now he’s the chaser. Needs to just hit the perfect T-shot. Oh, Tony. Wow. Oh my goodness. That’s plus+ plus. Wow. What a drive. Just when you needed it. Yeah. Watched by Rasmus Hoy. A time. Has to give himself a puck, doesn’t he? How close does he try and hit it? Come on. [Music] There’s the answer. That is just a wonderful goal shot. Well, come what may in the next few minutes. That shot will do him a power of a good. What an iron shot to the last from Mroy just when he needed it. Outside of the four majors, I don’t think there’s a championship in the world that Rory covers more than this one for Eagle at the last and a playoff. [Applause] So close. And this time around it is Raasmus Hygar with a three birdie finish and a round of 65 who has broken the hearts of the Irish golfing fans of the Northern Irish golfing fans. He has come ever so close. What a brave shot it was. What a brave effort. And rightly gets a lovely evation. He’s got a great chance here of getting it very close. Get in the [Music] hole. He had a great chance. It was a good shot, but it’s only going to be a four. He’s going to be in the clubhouse with Rory M with Francisco Molinari. He’s still alive. You’ve still got a chance of winning it. Rory, just under 120 yds left. Excellent shot from Linu Wang Tang. He’s got that to win the 50th anniversary Hong Kong Open this then to win. It’s [Applause] off. The thumbs up came just a little too soon. The two that were on the practice putting green breathe again. I think they were watching that with a a degree of trepidation. I’m sure they thought he’d make it. So, for the first time since this event became a joint venture, it’s a player. Got a shot of about 160 yards. Should be able to get it up over those trees straight for it. Beautiful shot from where he was. An excellent shot and gives himself the chance of a three. It is the cross the green across the slope. But there looks as though he’s thinking miracle shot. He’s got to slot it through there. Keep it under the branches. Hit it hard enough to get it over the water and somehow expect it to stop. I suppose it his best chance would be to knock it into the front bunker, but even to get there would be an extraordinary shot. [Applause] I don’t believe it. That is a fantastic shot by Lin Went. We thought he was dead in the water, but what a recovery from Lin Went. I didn’t believe he could get it up and over the trees. I thought he was going to have to thread it through there. And that’s come as a shock to Rory Maroy, believe me. Here’s the third one coming. What can he do? It’s just a little sandwich left. Oh, what a great shot from Mroy. And he has got the easiest cut. That’s a straight cut up the hill. Molinari then for his three. Not an easy one. Dies to the right. [Applause] Two more chances then for threes from the other two. Well, hold despite the interruption, despite the fact that he had to regroup, he has made the three and Roy Mroy has to hold his putt if he is going to continue in this playoff. But what a recovery shot. [Applause] What pressure, what tension. Three for Mai, three for Lynn. The playoff continues, but Molinari has lost his chance. Seems happy with this one. If it’s straight, it’ll run all the way down to the bottom. No problems this time. Good long shot from almost pivot. Oh, there’s a gun left. That came backwards and bounced about on the path and it may be behind that tree. I think he’s in trouble there. He’s just pitching out there or is he? I think so. Well, that’s probably a unless he’s hitting a big slinging hook. Could end up in the water then. That’s what he’s trying to do. [Applause] Would you believe it? Would you believe it? [Music] Beautiful shot from Lynn. Touche. And Lynn will certainly not miss that for three. And the pressure is on Rory [Applause] Mroy. He has played the 18th beautifully. So Rory Mroy has to hold this to avoid losing to Lin Went. in [Applause] time. All right. Fire, please. Shorter version of the P he had earlier. Lynn Wang has won the 50th Hong Kong Open beating Rory Mroy at the second extra hole. [Applause] A long hard look and a study. I think he realizes this is one very big putt. You know, it’s pretty flat, but it depends how hard he hits it. If it’s soft, it should break a touch from the left. Just a touch. He’s too far [Applause] left. Looked like he just pulled it a touch. Came off left of where he was aiming. Interesting to see now how he plays the last hole. He’s tacked it off the tea every single time. Well, that’s given Havry a chance, hasn’t it? That miss from Maroy. He makes his body and moves to 10 under. And there’s only one shot in it as he and Michael go down the 18th. Three to a five could have quite a switch round. All sorts of things can happen down 18. And in second at 15 to three very nearly a two though if he wants to win he’s got to be probably thinking about trying to make three. But is he just going to play this one down shorter than water? Maybe he’s just playing it out. Looks like he’s just chipping out. It’s a maintenance challenge. He really had to hit the fairway there going into the bunker. Was damaging blow in his bed to catch Rory M. There’s just no margin for error in that little corner there. But have a first 122 yards into the wind. So he can make this ball stop quite quickly. If he gets the length right, he’s bound to be a little pumped up. You know what happens when adrenaline surges through the system. It’s left of the pin. That’s a pretty good shot. Well, he’s quite relieved to see it there. Little unlucky it didn’t actually feed down towards the pin from where it pitched. 95 yds for Mroy. I think ball is the line he should play for. [Applause] It’s got to fly. Oh, didn’t see it finished. Don, it’s in the bunker. I think it jumped out of its own ball pitch mark, but it didn’t roll back down to the bottom of the hill. Back to Maroy on the ups slope. That should help. No, that should do it. What a way to finish, eh? What a way to finish. Awkward line in the bunker. It was on the upstep. It did help him, but Rory Mroy, who had hoped to come here and make it third time lucky in the UBS Hong Kong record, looks as if he’s going to do it. It’s 12 under par. A round of 65 in the closing day. He didn’t drop any shots at all. Out in 33, back in 32 for Mroy. What a different player he was today from yesterday. Remarkable turnaround. Meanwhile, Hav’s putting for par. Oh, well done. What a good box before. He turned at the end so much, but at least he got his P. And H finishes with 65 as well. They both have 65, but of course with a round to go with two shots clearly and he finishes two shots clear. Of course, while we may think that he has no chance, I’m sure the player himself will think, well, you never know. Tried and hole this, get the T-shot down the fairway on the next hole. Have a go at the flag. See what happens down the last. But this is certainly going to go in. Don’t have a mathematical chance. It’s a four for Peter Hansen and he remains at nine under par. So you can confirm that Rory Maroy is the winner of the UBS Hong Kong Open for 2011. And what a finish it was holding his bunker shot on the final hole. And there he is. He’ll know now that uh It’s all over. No one has enjoyed himself more than the man who’s holding the trophy. Northern Ireland’s Rory Mackoy. He would be hot favorite if he can make a par getting down in three from here. Cut a little low sliding one from right to left. Tough shot with this club though. Oh my goodness. Oh. Oh my. Oh, what a shot. One of the best shots I’ve ever seen him alive under the circumstances. Absolutely. What a shot. And all he’s got to think about is it in towards the line at the right pace. Pressure. What a roar. What a birdie. for Scotland’s Bob McIntyre. Wonderful, wonderful stuff. Is it going to be enough to win him the Genesis Scottish Open? We are going to find out. It’s going to be good, Sam. It’s going to be good. When this finishes, you’re going to like it. You’re going to really like it. What a shot. What a shot. But I like it. Oh, absolutely. It’s magnificent. That’s I don’t think it was as good as Bob’s on 18, but it was bloody close. No, he thinks it’s about 3 in outside the left. Got to be hit positively though. It’s not one for dribbling. game on time at the top. Exciting stuff. Still got 18 to go though. Oh, out of a ball below your feet. Wind in your face. This is Here we go. Has he cut it in? Is it too much? Oh, for goodness sake. What is going on? Oh no. What a shot. Rory Mroy of Arie Palmer drill. It never got above 10 ft off the ground. Never left the flag. My goodness. My god. McIntyre back over the on the driving range. Keep it loose. Crowd of mixed feelings. The hero in the clubhouse for the title. Well, he’s broken a few Scottish hearts on a play, but what a finish. Mroy lands his first victory here in Scotland. Oh, that’s nice, Bob. So, I’m glad he should be very proud of himself, Bob. That’s for birdie. Well done, Rory Maroy. Fourth bird of the back nine. And now Rory Maroy leads on his own. [Applause] Oh, for goodness sake. I don’t believe what is going on out here. Luke [Applause] Donald. Goodness gracious me. What a bird at 16. He almost did that unnoticed. [Applause] Just incredible. Just have the feeling that the drama is going to go right to the last possible moment. Lowry, a vital putt for birdie. It slipped away right only a five. Started well. Right. Is it draw? I don’t think it is drawing. Just another couple of yards draw. Just wanted it on the green to be putting, but he’s not done it. It’s in the bunker. Rory, it may be that Shane Lowry’s chance has gone. And Luke, Donald surely needs to hold this, but he hasn’t. So, Donald two is going to need to eagle the last to tie Roy. Mroy, he hold the bunker shot in Hong Kong to win at Funing a couple of years back. Surely can’t do it here. [Applause] Coming up a little bit short, but only a little. Just about an inch behind the ball here. Opens the face up. Just splash it out. Just could not play any better. [Applause] Rory Maroy around in 66. Back in 32, birdies at the last two holes and at 14 under par. He’s now the man to beat. [Applause] McDonald needs a three. Massive shot for Luke here. He’s got 210 to carry the water in the front. Another 23 back to the flag. So 233 alto together, but it’s back into the breeze in the right. So it’s going to be playing almost over 250 yards. And with the title on the line, it’s an enormous shot. A great strike. This looks like a good line. Oh no, that was inches right at the pin. We have a winner. Not yet. Thomas could hold a shot from the fairway. I’m sorry. And it may happen. Well, it’s an easy plot from there. We know that. Now, we can officially congratulate Rory Maroy. A winner again. 109. He needs to take dead aim, but will it come in hot? The lie’s pretty good, but there is grass behind it, so it could jump on him. He’ll need to send this high into orbit. Way upstairs. Penthouse high. He’s looking extremely high, isn’t he? And he’s looking it down, up and down. How about that? Landed it on a postage stamp. What a shot at the right time for Maroy. So, it doesn’t want to move a whole lot. Don’t over borrow or you will miss it. Right. could use it and he gets it. Tommy Fleetwood and the applause as Fleetwood draws up alongside Tristan Lawrence and Rory Mroy who’s hit it in close though remember that was a huge bonus. A great heart. He’s aiming outside right down groin quick. [Applause] Just keep on coming. The chess match continues. But now it’s Rory Maroy out in front on his own at minus 19. He’s going to play at that waist area and try to draw it off it to penetrate the breeze. It’s the correct play. You don’t want to overdo it, though. This will be flat out munch time. That is an absolute horror down the final hole from Rory Maroy. It’s wet, I believe. Don’t think we’ll see Tommy Fleetwood do that. I think this will be a little different. He’ll aim this down the center and try to peel it and work it off that wall of wind. Come on, Tommy. Yeah, beautiful T- shot. Just a soft draw. Spot on. Starting down the right half. Dodging a few divots. Just what’s required. Birdie from Tommy Fleetwood might well take it all. How quickly things have changed in the last hour. Let’s go. Just stand still. Just stand still, please. Excuse me. Go, isn’t he? Yeah. Two clubs. Seven iron was a club, but you know, it’s all right to say that now that he was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Complete would make something happen here. Yeah, stay there. Definitely floated on him. More importantly, he’s on the right level. Crucial putt for Maroy. Pretty good putt. All in all, as you said, the chance for Fleetwood Mroy, a certain bogey. This would do it for Tommy Fleetwood. He’s birdied the last two. And the first name etched on the Dubai Invitational Trophy belongs to Tommy Fleetwood in a dramatic final round here at Dubai Creek. It’s been edge of your seat viewing for the past hour and a half. Way to finish. Couple of wins of course just down the road there at Abu Dhabi and now he’s a winner here in Dubai. That is his third in the United Arab Emirates. Let’s go to 17. Mroy second from 282. [Music] [Applause] Little left. I want this to go right. Ken on the fly. Pitching it on the green. Making it land like it’s a seven iron. Perfect T-shot. Doesn’t have to do much with this. No real right to left in this needed. Well, no run with all the rain we’ve had. Just needs to pitch this far enough. Billy Horchel just to catch the down slope otherwise it will stick short. just gently cambers from right to left. He’s got to get it all the way there. That last well about 8 ft short of the flag to the back of the green slopes away from you. You don’t see many hold on this green. I’ll say that. Just the one eagle today so far. That was from Yen Stan the Swede Betty Birded the 18th. What would Mroy give for that? He’s got it. He’s got it. He’s got it. He’s made it to 20. Stunning from Mroy at just the right moment. He pounces and we are all tied up at the top. Took him a long time really to get going today, didn’t it? Rory Makoy didn’t have his best at times, but that is right out of the top [Applause] draw. Horchel for the birdie. So he stays in it. Borne making his birdie on 17 playing chess around the par five. Beautifully managed. Not on the fairway. So not able to place it but having to lay up or deciding to lay up anyway. these layups. That is just about enough. Can he launch one? Get it over the corner. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Short second bunker. Yeah, Ken. That’s perfect. His threewood out on the 15th and I think one of his shots today. So he’s favored the 3-wood rather than the driver of these closing holes. Still got plenty of distance to [Applause] Lawrence. He’s trying to drive this in low with a bit of draw spin. Oh, just not the right yardage. Be careful there. There’s a slope. Oh, playing with fire there on the last and driver for Billy Horselom. [Music] quite the right shape. Not the one he was looking for anyway. That is going to make his mind up. Once he gets more than 10 ft to the right of the fringe, it’s going to be in a little low area. Get it hard enough, he’s got a great chance to go in. He’s done it. Oh, has he? Oh, what an effort. That little low area. Jay has just a bit more grass in it. A little bit greener. Maybe that’s what slowed it down. What a terrific effort. It is an excellent final round. 65. No drop shots on the card for Tristan Lawrence. Now the only question is will it be enough? [Music] He would have dearly loved to reach the hole. It’s the hardest thing in the world when you’re nervous, when it’s all on you. One thing I will say, there’s just a puff of breeze into here and he does have a four iron and a driving iron, a two iron. This should be the two. Come on. Lucky boy. Come on. couldn’t find it when he needed it. He’s dodged a bullet there. Landed so softly. Oh my goodness. Yeah, a birdie here and he could be part of a playoff. What about an eagle? [Applause] [Music] This needs to spin. I will. Oh, stop. Stop. Stop. Didn’t he hit the same shot when he won? He likes that one. Great try, Billy. From his end, it must look This is going in. This is going in. It has to. This is well worth seeing again. Right now, now he’s interested. Oh, and now he’s really interested. Oh, luck wasn’t on his side. It’s all he needed. You never know, though. He might have that to join a playoff. Oh, he’s just seen it on the big screen. Was close. It really was close, Billy. He needs to play one here, Rory. I wonder how he’s going to play it. He’s got to at least carry it two yards, three yards onto the green. Otherwise, you hit a little ups slope [Applause] and he played it cautiously. He didn’t quite get the connection he wanted perhaps, but Oh, it was so tricky, wasn’t it? The water facing you. You’re going to make your mind up decide what the best shot is, the best percentage shot. He was trying a sort of slightly grabby one if he could left to right sliding putt for the BMW PGA Championship. It won’t make up for the heartbreak of the US Open or the disappointment last week, but my word, what a victory this would be for Rory Mroy. [Applause] not to be. It’s just a question of whether it’s going to be two or three in the playoff. Horchel then for Birdie to join the party with Lawrence and Mroy. No mistake from the man who won here three years ago. Another chance to win again. What a finish from Billy. [Music] Oh, diddly barrage. Then there were two last chance to lead. It was a good effort, wasn’t it? Six at best though for Tristan Lawrence. Soggy sand ball nestled a little bit. Not quite sure how it’s going to come out, how much run or what trajectory he’s going to hit it at. Seven, eight out of 10. Oh, I give it at least an eight at this stage. Ken upfield part I suppose. Ball sitting on a slight up open club face. Looks like he’s going to play it with a slightly stiff wristed style. Not pop it in the air too high. We’ll see. Never been anything like it. Wasn’t his best. It stops a bit quicker than I think he thought it was going to. Was it a funny contact or just Did he have sand on the ball or something? It just didn’t. Oh, funny bounce. Was a horrible bounce. Christopher Columbus. That was a Shane Warren, was it? Yeah. Thrown in a googly right in the last minute. Yeah. Difficult part, I think, for Rory. is coming through a little bit of a a gully really a fraction just up the hill. Mroy makes the birdie over to you Betty Horaw. He’s definitely out of it [Applause] now. Dead eye. I think this is quite difficult, Ken. Coming up and over a little saddle. And on we go. Oh, take a breath. Wonderful golf. The highest quality. Three becomes two. And then they’ll head back down the 18th again. [Music] Perfection once more from Horshaw. [Applause] The three-wood for Mroy. Come on. Oh boy, this is just wonderful. A shot to behold. Further back, of course, with the three-wood, but just where he needs to be. You have to say after these two in the first hole, they both missed it right. So, it’s clearly a a shot that needs to be respected. He’s got to flush this if he’s a four iron. Go. Well, it’s an exceptional goal shot. He did flush it, didn’t he? That lovely sound of the woods or Ernie L’s blow long singing off the club face. So, this should chase a little bit more for Horshaw. Same thing required. Straight through the middle. This looks like a good line, too. I mean, they make it look oh so easy. Anxiety. Moments like this don’t come along all that often. This is right to left, but I think this has got a little bit more in it than Billy Horaw’s putts. A double breaker, but difficult to see. There you go. Exactly as called by Ken Brown. It’s a certain birdie, but it means that Billy Horshaw will have a putt to win this playoff. It was a wonderful try. The pace was perfect. couldn’t quite pick the line. He knows it comes from the left at the end. Put it well every day. Has he got one more? He has, you know, with an eagle three. Billy Horshaw wins the BMW PGA Championship. for the second time in three years. It’s another near miss for Rory Mroy. But my word, it took something special, didn’t [Applause] it? Look at the way he looks at Maroy as well. most apologetically class. That was close. To watch another DP World Tour video, click here. And to subscribe, click here.
