ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) – The Sunset Youth Golf Center will be hosting a project launch reception later this month.
The event will be on Thursday, May 29th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Moore Ranch ManCave.

In July 2024, the closure of three West Texas golf courses; Nueva Vista, Ranchland Hills, and Sunset Golf and Country Club was announced.
After the acquisition of the Sunset Golf Property by Ector County ISD, Rudy became interested in trying to restore part of the Sunset golf course to provide a dedicated space for the golf students of ECISD.
In January of this year a group of Rudy’s friends and acquaintances here in Odessa came together to form a committee to investigate the possibility of raising private funds to restore the par 3 course at Sunset as a gift to the school district to help support and expand the golf program of ECISD.
By creating a permanent improvement to a portion of the Sunset property now owned by ECISD, the many golf memories shared by so many will stand as a homage to the past while continuing use of a restored Par 3 course can endure for generations of new golf students to come.
The permanent improvement will be planned to co-exist with whatever plans ECISD may have for future expansion and further development of the property.
During the meantime, the Sunset property rather than sitting idol can be utilized to fill a need for the golf program and all the golf students of ECISD.
