BUFFALO, Mo. (KY3) – After nearly a month since an entire building full of golf carts went up in flames at the Dream Valley Golf Course, owners unveiled the course’s new designs.
“We were definitely devastated and somewhat nervous about the future of our business,” said Marcie Knight, owner of Dream Valley Golf Course.
On Dec. 22, fire officials responded to the Dream Valley Golf Course, where they found the garage fully engulfed. In that fire, 53 new golf carts were destroyed, leaving the course with only a few carts.
Knight says it’s been almost a month since the blaze, and the cleanup has taken just as long. “It’s a relief not having to see the rubble anymore, and it’s just kind of a closure of being able to just move forward and just open up a new chapter,” she said.
The new chapter for Dream Valley’s Golf Course consists of 24 replacement golf carts and the continued construction of a brand-new course clubhouse.
“We were lucky to keep this building and only replace two small walled frames, and then that project continued on,” said co-owner Ryan Knight.
With everything working in the course’s favor, Dream Valley started the new year with a golf tournament. However, Marcie Knight says the fire wasn’t only a setback but instead led to a remarkable comeback.
“We’re not the type of people to just sit back and just let things bring us down, you know, and I think a lot of times you just have to get back up, and you just have to keep going.”
