Jr. OB begins fall season with tennis, golf and basketball Miami’s Community News

Jr. OB begins fall season with tennis, golf and basketballThe Junior Orange Bowl (Jr. OB), a Coral Gables-based nonprofit dedicated to youth development through sports and community engagement, has announced a full slate of fall programming, highlighted by an expanding international tennis playoff series and preparations for its annual golf tournament and basketball championship.

The Junior Orange Bowl Tennis Championship playoff series continues to grow its global footprint, with matches scheduled next month in Africa, France and Bulgaria. The international rounds will be run on Jr. OB’s behalf by Edge, while the Miami playoffs will be held in September and October under the direction of David Insignia.

“Our tennis program has become a true global stage for young athletes, and we’re proud to see it continue to grow in reach and recognition,” said Mimmi Balaam, executive director of the Junior Orange Bowl. “We are lucky to have such a devoted committee that have helped grow and diversify the event.”

In addition to tennis, the Junior Orange Bowl is preparing for its inaugural Charity Golf Tournament, taking place Miami Lakes on Nov. 9 with a noon shotgun start, and sponsorship opportunities remain available.

The organization’s Basketball Tournament returns Dec. 28–30, drawing a competitive field of returning teams across boys and girls divisions.

A warm-up event will be held Oct. 10-11 in Miami Springs ahead of the main tournament weekend, which is expected to bring more than 1,500 participants and attendees to South Florida.

The Junior Orange Bowl also continues to build community partnerships ahead of its annual parade on Dec. 6, with planning underway for VIP experiences, sponsorships, and family-friendly programming. Float space is still available and businesses interested in getting involved are encouraged to grab their spot in the parade by purchasing a float and not miss the chance to be part of this year’s VIP celebrations.

Tickets can be found on Eventbrite.
