The winning team, USA, dominated in singles to win 11th straight title

The United States overturned a three-point final-day deficit to beat the International Team 17-13 and win an 11th consecutive Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club outside Chicago.

Brandt Snedeker’s side trailed 10.5-7.5 entering Sunday, but collected 9.5 of the 12 singles points to complete the biggest final-day comeback in Presidents Cup history.

Cameron Young, Justin Thomas and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler delivered early wins before Chris Gotterup, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay and Jackson Koivun shifted control firmly towards the hosts.

Jacob Bridgeman secured the decisive point, recovering from a one-down deficit with three holes remaining against Min Woo Lee to win 1-up.

The defeat will also renew discussion around the International Team’s inability to select LIV Golf players. With the Presidents Cup operated by the PGA Tour, LIV players are ineligible, leaving the Internationals without established stars such as Joaquin Niemann and Cameron Smith. The US also misses LIV players, including Bryson DeChambeau, but has far greater depth to choose from.

The situation differs from the Ryder Cup, where the US team is governed by the PGA of America and Europe by the DP World Tour, allowing LIV players to remain eligible subject to their respective qualification and membership requirements.

The Internationals had put themselves in position for a rare victory after sweeping Friday’s five foursomes matches and carrying a three-point advantage into Sunday.

Their singles defeat, however, extended the wait for a second Presidents Cup title. The International Team’s only victory remains its 1998 triumph at Royal Melbourne.
