The 2026 Open de España is all set to begin soon, with a competitive field of 132 golfers fighting for a prize purse of $3.25 million. There is a lot of excitement surrounding the event because many well-known golfers will be there. Here’s a look at five of the biggest names that will be part of the field this week on the DP World Tour:
#5 Sergio García

Sergio García is well known to be one of the biggest faces of the golf world. Garcia has been a crowd favorite at every tournament he has competed in, and as a Spanish golfer, he will not only be a hometown hero but will also have a home-soil advantage. The golfer did, however, win the Open de España in 2002, his only win at this tournament in his career so far.
#4 Justin Rose

Justin Rose is well-known for being one of the top players in any tournament he takes part in. Rose is a big title winner and has often proven his ability to pose a significant threat to any field he is a part of. He is currently looking for a comeback win after a little downturn in his form, and this week could be the perfect occasion for him.
#3 Tyrrell Hatton

Tyrrell Hatton is also one of the top LIV golfers competing in the 2026 Open de España. He is not only competing in the event, but he is also one of the odds-on favorites to win it all. Hatton is also third in the tournament power rankings, despite missing the 54-hole cut last week at the 2026 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
#2 Shane Lowry

Shane Lowry is also a household name in the golf world due to the talent he possesses. Lowry is one of the top golfers in the world right now, and he proved his skills a few weeks ago when he won the 2026 Amgen Irish Open. Since that victory, the Open de España will be Lowry’s only second start; thus, the golfer will be hoping to maintain his momentum.
#1 Ludvig Åberg

Walking into the tournament as the overwhelming fan favorite to win it all, Ludvig Åberg is without a doubt one of the world’s most recognizable golfers. The Swedish golfer is a big favorite this week, as he has topped both the power rankings and tournament odds. Aberg has yet to win a tournament this season, but a strong performance this week might alter that.
