J.J. Spaun has made a fantastic start to the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this week.
Spaun posted an opening-round 70 on Thursday and followed that up with a brilliant 66 on Friday.
The 36-year-old American is currently sitting just two strokes adrift of the leaders heading into the weekend in Surrey, England.
J.J. Spaun has been in fine spirits out on the golf course this week during the BMW PGA Championship.
And his game seems to be in fine shape.
Spaun withdrew from the Tour Championship through injury at the end of August and that was the last event he played.
So the fact that he has played such good golf this week is hugely impressive.
After his second round on Friday, the 2025 US Open champion was asked by one reporter how he has enjoyed playing at Wentworth this week.
“It’s been wonderful,“ Spaun replied.
“We love coming here, as far as being in the atmosphere, the English culture, we love it.
“Golf-wise, a strange couple days. Overall happy with how I played the last couple days.“

He was then asked whether he has used the trip to England for sightseeing as well as playing golf.
“Just purely golf,“ Spaun admitted.
“Being in this area of London kind of gives us our fix for English culture and enjoying the local things to be had. We just love being in this part of the world, and it’s a fun week for my family and I.
“So a little bit of golf, a little bit of leisure and it’s been a fun week so far.“
J.J. Spaun raves about Wentworth as a golf course
The American was asked on Friday how he would describe Wentworth to his friends back in the United States.
“I would say it’s top drawer, is that what you guys say around here? I love it,“ Spaun admitted.
“I think the facilities are great. The club’s great. There are three courses here. Everything is top of the line, and that’s why it’s our Flagship Event on the DP World Tour.
“And it’s been a great start to my first start here at Wentworth.“
J.J. Spaun speaks so well whenever he is interviewed, and his affable nature came through clearly when he spoke to reporters after his second round at the BMW PGA Championship on Friday.
