Kim Si-woo, who has finished runner-up three times on the PGA Tour this season and climbed to No. 13 in the world rankings, will play in front of home fans in South Korea. He is the highest-ranked player not only among Koreans but among all Asian players.
Kim will compete in the Genesis Championship, which will be held from Oct. 22 to 25 at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, with a total purse of $4 million, tournament organizers said on the 15th.
Launched in 2017 and marking its 10th anniversary this year, the Genesis Championship is co-sanctioned by the Korea Professional Golfers’ Association (KPGA) Tour and the DP World Tour, formerly the European Tour. With $4 million on the line, or about 5.4 billion won, it is the largest international professional golf tournament held in South Korea.
Kim will play the Genesis Championship for a second straight year. He tied for 21st last year, but attention is on how he will fare this time after showing markedly improved form on the PGA Tour.
“I’m very happy to be playing in the Genesis Championship again this year,” Kim said. “The support fans sent me at last year’s tournament was really passionate. I hope to meet the fans again this year and show them good golf.”

The winner will receive $680,000, or about 900 million won, along with a Genesis vehicle. Also at stake are playing privileges on the KPGA Tour and the DP World Tour for 2027 and 2028, 1,300 Genesis Points and 835 Race to Dubai ranking points. In addition, the highest-finishing player among KPGA Tour members will earn a spot in the 2027 Genesis Scottish Open, co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour.
