Springvale Ballroom in North Olmsted

North Olmsted nearly completes Springvale Golf Course & Ballroom updates

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — The Springvale Golf Course & Ballroom over the last few years has received quite the facelift.

One needed fix that is currently in limbo is the replacement of the green canopy that covers the walkway going into the ballroom.

“The canopy project was put on hold,” North Olmsted Director of Recreation & Public Engagement Tim Pinchek said.

“We just weren’t happy with the bids that came in at the end of last year, so we’re going to revisit in 2027.

“And if not, we’ll push it to 2028. So hopefully we get it done in the next year or two.”

The current canopy is old and brittle.

Pinchek said there’s a concern that attempting to power wash the fabric will only end up shredding it.

The bids far exceeded the city’s $92,000 estimate for the project.

“If and when we do the canopy project, it’ll be like a permanent structure with pillars and a walkway and roof,” he said.

Among completed updates at the venue over the last couple of years is the addition of an ADA-accessible ramp located in front of the ballroom.

The 5,000-square-foot parking lot was also repaved with the replacement of three light posts and the addition of two more for increased parking lot illumination.

The work also included adding a C-shaped driveway and turnaround where patron vehicles and party buses can drop off guests directly at the western door entrance.

“The ballroom floor and bridal suite were redone,” he said.

“As far as the exterior goes, we got new siding and windows.”

Something new expected to soon be added to the Springvale venue is an ATM for visitor use.

Pinchek noted the venue has had an ATM for a while; however, there was no guarantee it would be in working order.

“We currently have an ATM there now that’s been inconsistent as far as when it was working,” he said. “It’s had good days and bad days probably for the last year.

“The lease is up on that agreement, so we’re looking for another vendor to come in at no cost to the city.”

City Council is soon expected to approve a new one-year contract with Ern APenny Inc.

“The ATM is more of a convenient item for the patrons at the clubhouse or the ballroom,” he said.

“If they need money for whatever — merchandise, playing golf, food, etc. — they have the option of walking over and getting cash.”
