Filling the gap between driver and irons is the trickiest part when you’re setting up your golf bag. So, what should you be using to get the right bag gapping, and are we all making the same fatal error that makes hitting fairway woods harder than it needs to be?

I headed down to see TaylorMade at The Belfry for a full bag gapping session. We take a deep dive into the new TaylorMade Qi35 fairway woods to explore the optimal setup golfers should use to maximise their golf swings.

  1. I love my 3W, 5W, 7W. The 3 and 7 get a bit of use on my home course while the 5 is for some of the longer courses I play.

  2. Really good perspective! The idea that woods are more of tools rather than the number that is on the bottom of the club is a really good way to look at it. The fitter did a really good job of explaining how the distances would work as you play. Can't wait for the follow up WITB to see how everything performs on the grass.

  3. Geez, the loft on the irons is so strong these days that the 4i is almost superfluous and you could start with either a 7w or 3h methinks before going to the 5i. That said, I hadn't thought about the links course subject you raised in defence of the 4i. Decisions, decisions!!😝😝

  4. Hi Hannah, that mat sounds so tough and not making your strikes sound as efficient as you might find on fairway or tees. I tried the ping 440's last week and was impressed. Worked better for me than the other brands but only testing will confirm results for each individual person, which you already know.
Goo result on the other recent video – minus 4 was good and could have been an easy minus 6 or 7 if the putts fell. Good luck on the event itself too.

  5. A taylormade tour 3 wood, callaway elyte titanium 5 wood and a ping g440 7 wood would be an awesome set to have and review

  6. I'm sorry I don't like to give negative comments but that was the most boring golf video I've ever attempted to watch

  7. So glad to see you doing reviews again! Always good to revisit what works best along with knowing what one needs. Too many have a 3 wood and can't hit it, so why have it? Go 4-5 wood, little shorter shaft and the distance difference will not be that much. Slower swings (most everyone) needs more loft, not less. Woods are usually always easier to hit and will go farther due to longer than hybrid shafts. Maybe due a wedge set up video again. Take care!

  8. The Proforce V2 and V2HL are awesome shafts. I have had the V2 HL in my driver and fairways and the V2 (bright yellow version) in a hybrid for several seasons. Great feeling and even a better value since they are often low or no cost upgrades with almost all of the OEMs

You won't go wrong with the Proforce V2 as a golf shaft. My only wish they had kept the bright yellow since it was sweet and bring back in a future version.
