In this video we take a deep dive into why these 7 woods callaway Eltye Titleist GT2 & Ping G440 are high launching, soft landing & great replacement for any long iron. Watch as Michael tests all 3 of these clubs both in the studio as well as on course in some tricky lies.

so in this video we’re going to take a look at a golf club that is coming back into fashion it used to be around it sort of disappeared for a little bit and definitely more golfers now starting to put this particular club in the bag i’ve got three to look at a Ping a Titus and also a Callaway we’re going to hit all three of those in this video so the club I’m referring to is the Sevenwood we saw these years ago and I always remember the Callaway Heavenwood loads of golfers had those in the bag very easy sort of high-flying and obviously the introduction of hybrids rescue clubs came along into the uh industry and really sort of took over but these sevens are now making a bit more of a comeback brands are starting to introduce them back into their ranges so I thought it’d be a good opportunity just to test them in this particular video as I say I’ve got Titus GT2 i’ve got a Callaway Elite and also a Ping G440 Max so we’re just going to hit a few shots with each of these clubs and maybe just give you an ideas of maybe where this is going to sit in your bag why you might want to put this in the bag against maybe a hybrid golf club and um maybe just sort of see how these actually perform as well and the advantages maybe on certain areas of the golf course where the 7wood could be a great option for you in the golf bag okay so we’re going to start off with the tightest the GT2 obviously we know the tightest look loads of loft i mean that’s the first instinct there as you put this down by the ball the loft that you see or the amount of face that you see is very confident inspiring it just feels like it’s going to pop that ball up in the air so we should see a nice sort of high ball flight from this but you know confidence wise straight away that’s a big thing that sort of jumps out at me now obviously the tights are a little bit of a compact head probably in relationship to the other two we’ll look at and there we go there’s the really sort of high ball flight that we’re going to see with a sevenwood really high peak flight a little bit more descent angle maybe a really good option to hitting into greens to get some stopping power i think that’s really where the introduction of obviously hybrids came into the market you know easy to use a little bit more forgiving great off some indifferent lies higher ball flight than a traditional sort of low or long eye in should I say and obviously gives them some added benefit of stopping it when it lands into the green sevenwood is definitely in that area as well now obviously 7wood length of shaft is longer than a than a hybrid so potentially get a little bit more club head speed a little bit more distance so I just want to thank our current channel sponsors ELG who provide high quality football themed head covers scorecard holders and accessories and they’re kindly going to do a giveaway for one lucky winner in this particular video where you can win a head cover of your choice of your favorite football team so to enter for a chance to win a head cover of your choice simply put in the comments below ELG and you’ll be entered into the free prize draw to win a head cover good luck let’s go strike yeah and you can really sort of see as that comes into land much steeper you can see the land angle there nearly 49° coming in the spin’s obviously going to be a little bit higher and carry around that sort of 210 first one was 218 on that carry but much more descending land angle as opposed to a long iron so most 7woods are going to sit in at 21° of loft but as I say shaft length is going to be depends on the brand but somewhere around that sort of 41 12 to just over 42 in in length so a little bit longer than a hybrid as I mentioned hybrid is a little bit more near that uh long iron length oo it’s pulled a little bit the flight’s great so there’s a couple reasons where maybe seven would creep into a bag for a lot of you golfers out there so the slower swingers of the game probably would like to see more loft so if you’re struggling maybe with your your three-wood um maybe fivewood could be good option but maybe still a little bit hit and miss something with a bit more loft will really help you to launch that golf ball get a little bit more distance on your shots as well so that could be one option there another option is maybe for that golfer want that really high ball flight into greens where you get a lot of distances at a certain yardage which this would hit as you’re approaching the greens which would be difficult to do maybe with a hybrid or even more so with a long iron okay so out of the targets now and moving on into the ping the G440 Max Ping fantastic fairway woods in my opinion very low profile and I think that’s the first thing you’ll probably see against these two clubs from the tightest to the ping is number one a little bit of a larger footprint with the ping down there maybe more confidence inspiring again we’re going to see plenty of loft again we’re on 21° of loft but then really noticeable is the depth of the club face a lot more longer from heel to toe but a little bit more shallower as well great for really getting that ball launched especially off those tighter more horrible lies that sometimes we’re faced with there we go okay yes a really good strike that is a high ball flight super high you can see that land angle coming in there now over the 50° mark loads of stopping power fantastic hitting to maybe a firm green tight flag from a long distance yeah and that really high flight there i feel that really sort of comes into its own with the ping as I mentioned before the very low profile weight low in that in the head low CG further back from the head just definitely golfers who struggle to flight the ball give them a ping fairway wood they generally get that ball flighted really quite nicely so I think it’s a fantastic head to create that slightly higher ball flight and there’s probably a good example that was a touch low in the club face there just started to touch left a little bit low obviously the launch is a touch lower but it’s still got its height 47° land angle that’s not doing so bad on that slight low hit right so as you’ll see from this lie off into this first cut of roof but settled down it’s been quite lush recently we’ve had quite a bit of rainfall makes it very sort of difficult to get to the bottom of that golf ball so I’ve got the Ping seven wood let’s see if we can get this out and how easy this comes out now what obviously I’m going to have to do maybe technique-wise here is just make sure I hit a little bit more down on the golf ball i can do that because I’ve got the luxury of loft to get the ball in the air with the sevenwood so I’m just going to make sure I get to the bottom of the golf ball and that’s come out really quite easily there it’s come out obviously a little bit lower because I’ve hit more down i’m just going to present a little bit less loft but it’s still flighted it’s still got up there and it’s still got some good distance okay now we’re talking look at this stuff here now I’m not quite in the hay but I’m very much in that horrible lie look at that if I get this camera to ground level you can’t see that golf ball massive tuft of grass just be right behind that golf ball wow definitely feel i mean that is lush and wet so that’s really grabbed my club head there which we’re going to expect to happen but that has popped up very quickly yes it’s not gone as far but it’s up and it’s probably gone about 150 to maybe 170 yards there I would say so it’s progressing me down that hole where potentially with an iron I’d probably be looking at maybe getting a a n iron even a wedge at that just to get it out and wouldn’t probably get it that far so another really good lowprofile head is the Callaway Elite which I have in my hands now again 21° 7wood and when you hold it in that position look at the back edge it just very sort of slim really sort of shamefers off to a very subtle fine point at the back so really hugs the ground again we see loads of loft again it just looks so inviting to get that ball lifted off the ground so huge advantage of the Simwood with that loft would be coming out of the roof i think this would be a really good option little bit of that length of club where you can get that speed through there but the loft there just pops that ball up and out as we maybe just seen as I’ve just hit some out on the golf course it really does help you to get out of those in different lines that we get faced with just a little bit up the left again that is my shot but the flight the height the land angle is definitely there again so really when you’re looking into which one would you go for you got to go and try these clubs haven’t you maybe the look might have a little bit more of um a preference to you as a golfer and I think once you start hitting a few shots playing around with the different types of uh seven woods different brands different looks you’ll probably start to get more success with one over the other whether that’s a shaft combo or that’s just a head feel aspect always recommend going and trying these lovely okay so there’s three sevenwood options obviously other brands do them as well in around that sort of 21 degree very confident inspiring a little bit obviously extra length over a hybrid potentially a little bit more club head speed more peak height probably I would say and getting that descent angle and as we saw out on the golf course fantastic from those awkward lies maybe in the rough that we’re going to get faced with still a bit of distance to go to that flag post comments though let me know your thoughts if you got some wood in the bag love to hear your thoughts as always and hopefully catch you all very

Love my 7 wood – played Callaway & Ping both awesome
I added a 5-wood a couple of months ago and thought I was up-to-date. Now for more ruminating…
Love my 7 wood. I've been using one for the past 2 yrs. At 65 yrs old it really is a big help especially at 175 to 185 yards…
Prefer the 6 wood in my bag along with my 2 and 4 woods
ELG – Thanks Michael.
