well this is the hardest golf course in the world oh my god dude do something crazy today oh look at that mud ball oh boy big gun welcome back to Major Cut season 2 Oakmont edition dude major cut oakmont here we go six over george are you ready what’s the cut six over six over 7 over 7374 and we’re packing our bags we’ve made it over here to the first TE at Oakmont and if you guys have never seen a major cut before basically how this works 18 holes will go on my channel 18 holes will go on the Brian Bros channel and we are going to see if we can make the cut over 2 days the cut is plus 6 and we’re going to be pulling up the US Open from what year Wesley 2016 dustin Johnson prevailed here at Oakmont so that’s where we’re we’re going for the plus six cut line as it sits right now all currently well inside well inside the cut line six shots probably not going to stay that way for long y’all get ready let’s go here we go is that the line no it sure isn’t is that another fairway rough the thick rough four to five inches okay let look right off the T- box here Sky just come here for a second let’s just drop a ball trying to get your club on that or this stuff to be fair I think that’s a little shorter than what it is out there i mean look there’s a leaderboard we got it there were only there were only four guys that shot under par the entire US Open of 2016 goodness yes George uh George hits fairways that’s what he does wow wow that’s perfect this guy’s so good at golf whoa i know it was a good drive guys thank you little cut just like George off that bunker little draw off that bunker oh left rough with me grant you’re just a little bit left of him that’s closer to bunker 158 front edge downhill is this stuff hard to get it out of you should be able to it’s 158 170 the flag stick 58 front edge so this right here right off the bat look at this guy so this in front of the ball it’s growing this way it’s a little trampled down i don’t even know how this ball’s going to come out do you just get steep on it do you think steep from what I’ve heard yeah just get steep on it and here we go this could go anywhere is that going to roll down to the green you’re going to be in the left rough Scott this is We’re going to be in for a long win uh today and tomorrow but that’s what US Open should be the hardest golf tournament all year across all pro golf 173 down to like 158 or 155 nine iron good shot George shot all right we got 170 to the hole got a good lie downgrain got eight iron oh no no go where is it just a hair left just off the back way long no landed on sorry george said way long so I just assumed it was No that’s perfect way long everybody else’s shots I feel like are like way worse and when he hits a shot that’s like really bad it’s like way better like in his mind it’s difficult to understand but got to live with it grant no sit no sit heel cinnamon oh no i mean this is so wild stop ball stop wow putting hey good news is chipping back uphill bad news is this stuff is juicy oh no good shot oh no now we left oursel a really tough one out here you just cannot get above the hole like you you just don’t want to be working downhill and we’ve just done that to ourselves i’m outside his ball outside his ball yeah like just outside his ball all right go oh we had the line nice putt nice putt job George yeah had the line such a good golfer man good good job i mean he has work wesley has work there could be all bogeies to start if I get this down in two all right shot right who all right this one is slippery straight downhill a little right to left going to have to just get it started wow putt wise on wow that was good woo nice good roll good par so just outside right yes sir okay or a bogey here nice putt good starting out with a double would have been real painful bogey for myself two pars for George and Wes dude these guys it Okay it’s great it’s just in my position just talking to you guys it fires me up how good at golf they are because even when you you think they’re out of the hole they somehow always come out with pars and their their scores are way better than it looks and I got to work towards that just walked over the interstate grant heck of a bogey that’s the in US Open and majors like those are the things that keep rounds going and like set like ultimately separate the winners uh from losers people make cut and miscut those but you’re you’re the same way though you’re grinding out that par putt there wesley is too y’all made two very difficult putts and you dripped them in there you hit that speed that like I want to hit just never happens but it’s like that drippy you know let it just fall in the cup y’all made two great pars so even even one over is this a par three no short par4 all right i’ve never walked across a main highway to head to the second hole but that was pretty cool so why are you hitting driver here Wes uh don’t know because I hit driver on pretty much every hole usually would you recommend a driver here not if you’re going to get it up to 290 that’s where that cross bunker in front of the American flag comes to play okay we’ll keep it short of that hopefully I’ll keep it short of 290 don’t worry here we go second hole of the day 345 par4 beauty really good it’s in the gap there it’s like it’s tuned it’s 290 in the right bunker then 300 to the left 290 in the cross bunker that’s where it starts yep hang in there George that quick it’s in there the wind’s off George what do you mean oh it’s in the ditch it said it’s 300 of the ditch no it’s in the ditch it’s in the middle of the ditch what whoa oh no all right got eyes on it guys we got to talk a little bit about Oakmont just this place because it’s special wes you you know a lot about this place yeah i mean one it’s just one of the like when you think of the US Open you think of Oakmont you think of Shinikok Hills you think of Marian like this is one of those like super US Open like rich in history spots that have been around a long time you can tell when you walk in that clubhouse right and all one they have one of the best pro shops I’ve ever seen merchandise wise unbelievable uh but just like the architecture of it like you’ll notice out here they have a lot of like as fairways go into the greens it’s like very squared off and just kind of the fairway runs straight into the green it’s not like a circular green like you normally would see it’s kind of edged off on the sides which is really unique and 100% i don’t know playing like spots like this with all the history it’s just fun and I also think guys with the grand stands up like this that feeling of just like this tournament’s going to be here in a few weeks is really special and that of course they’ve like had it shut down we’re some of the first people to play it since the shutdown so not many divots it’s pure special look at this lie oh yeah we got a chance we can get on the back of the ball but look at that there’s a hole right here Sky so I can get underneath the ball at least what do we got here here’s where our pins at we’re 95 to the stick was it to carry the 85 to the face of the bunker okay what would you recommend here pretty much 90 to 95 and you saw there’s not much room left of it 95 with the wind over top of the pin as as long as you’re not right or like if you go right over it too far you get cut off you see this here there ain’t much room it’s tucked up on that corner you got to hit the 95 mark yeah 95 i mean there’s a little bit of breeze up there yeah it’s playing what like 105 yeah 90 uh I’d say 100 100 if you’re going right at it perfect little 56 guys here we go oh look at that mud ball that was a crazy mud ball yep boy you got to We got to start hitting some fairways if we’re going to score today we got to be in the fairway that is the key 75 to cover the bunker 85ish to the pin lob wedge in hand oh you almost dunked it George it like it’s on the edge of the cup as they’re obviously getting ready for the US Open they have the landing areas roped off so we’re not able to play from there so if our ball is We’ll just move it out of it closest area so I had to move it about three yards farther forward here my apologies but with that being said we got 68 yards trying to take dead aim with a lob iron here oh it’s got to set oh no oh dude dude did you see how that came in george I’ll tell you what maybe I’m not built for this place it came in like this and went it’s I’m Wes is the worst break I’ve ever seen arguably the worst break I’ve ever seen and now I see George trying to recreate what I have in store and it does not look good well what do we want to do here just land it should we land this in the rough yeah if you could get landed in the rough and get one bounce on that’d be perfect i mean this I’ve never I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen lies like this where the grass is growing right into the ball this way yeah so I don’t even know like has it come out weaker it’s got a little downhill lie so I just This is interesting guys here we go that stuff is nuts i mean literally nuts that’s bad break can someone explain how the ball even ends up one hop with a lot of spin it would had to have like It did i’m going to go it did it came back here we go Cam let’s make a great par dude go ahead Wes yeah there’s lots of giblets being spilled i’m trying to figure out how my like did it come back up under the lip i mean I don’t even know if this ball can get out truly oh my what a shot wow Wes great shot man never had to rake a bunker up under the lip like that i don’t want to touch my putter that’s what I wanted to do just trying to just catch the ball first and I’m not catching the ball nah good try thank you god this guy is unstoppable wow good job Wes we might just be grinding all day what a par save dude that’s incredible like that was a worst break he turned a bad break into a highlight no that triple that triple whoa whoa and but hey I hear I hear their birdie opportunities huh now we hear they want them right there we just played it now we we this is not the first very difficult major cup we’ve been at like quail hollow this is what this is what US Opens are like they’re not just an ordinary tour event where you know 25 33 under can win like these are intentionally made to be the hardest test of golf like mentally it’s more a mental test so I think he can do it but just really getting in that mindset like “Hey you know what it’s okay let’s have fun and let’s just enjoy the challenge.” Made our way to hole three one of the famous spots on the golf course all the bunkers the old church pews sick let’s not hit them though the church pew they’re on the left we’re going to try and try and avoid those play oh no church pews fly no i mean that was hit so unbelievably good just carry them all yes wow you covered it covered it just carried all of that so you I want to like Wow you want to be just right at that basically in the fairway but that’s not a bad spot gulp like that oh no george did you hammer it no hit a toe you know oh just caught it might be okay just just toe just high toe all right let’s hit a fairway here we go tough start real tough there it is stay left oh fairway ball nice there we go swing feels great right now like had a great warm-up session here at Oakmont give Give us the thoughts right now go and type this is made this is great this is hard i want to hear them the raw the first three holes oakmont Country Club yeah cuz it’s coming up this week the major start so oh boy it’s going to be fun though i get more excited just to watch the event and see what I did and then see what the pros do because like you’re like I played that hall you know um but and this is this is now so we did it at Pinehurst mhm um this is our second US we did it at Quail oh and then we did it at Srass and then here this is the fourth time of us getting the opportunity to watch yeah we’ll just watch the action as it unfolds in real time and compare ourselves to it so it’s pretty cool and we may be doing it for the open championship across the pond coming up next month we might be coming to the U okay 8 iron that’s a 160 shot yeah and then that’d leave us like 100 120 in right at the green where am I headed right towards that white pole do you want to be left of it you see the the stakes in the ground right here pretty much over the right corner of this left cross bunker i’m just laying up i got this pew right here in front of me going to make birdie the hard way today on this hole just lay it up let’s get oursel back in play all right very good as good as I got there perfect coachable there we go very nice we got 275 yards to the stick i got three wood in hand going to be going right at that white pole or right at that white pole right right way right pin height right should have a lot of green to work over there over that cart pass sign you want to go right at that pole started a little left with a cut that’s fine too so like if I end it at that pole you’re going to be perfect and if I go right of it’s fine yep left of it’s fine short left of it’s fine yep here’s George oncourse reporting right here oh you got the ball going a little bit Well I mean that’s to the right kind of headed over by his brother have no idea what very solid shot on the green just over the back and that shows right there folks that these greens are very difficult to hold um George Brown however is even par so he’s in the hunt at the moment but hopefully you guys are enjoying this stream NBC Sports i will say this might if if people are going for the screen too this will be a fun one for me to look back on and watch because when you’re playing it when you’re watching on TV you might not know how blind it is but this one is a very scary second shot so like I’m excited to watch this one um and players give a go at this one too yeah i Oakmont you had a chance at birdie i know tap in pars are great major championship to get that it’s a great read though glad I caught him in though let’s go it’s good par just tap in par good pars guys okay hey Grant actually hit a really good shot in here to make double there’s ball mark this golf course it can get away from you so unbelievably fast and when we scroll through the leaderboard like you’re going to see like it can happen quick to even the best in the world that’s fine you said this hole’s only 405 yeah that’s fine fairway well I was saying you had a 405 uh you might be a little left you should be fine that’s good there that’s got to be nice shot Wes yeah could be could be first cut there it’s right on the edge of the right side that was really close to those poles yeah know it was good for a guy in my caliber I’ll take it that was really good i think it’s okay it’s right in between the poles so we’ll be good all right i need a hug we’re at that moment where we we’ve had these moments in our major cut series where I look at you and I say I just need a hug um I just remember a lot of them especially Quail Hollow the last one the thing is I have been there and I have done that uh I’ve done it on both the PGA Tour and YouTube most recently for me when I was playing Jason Day I was an exponential amount of overpar what did you shoot i I birdied the last four to shoot 84 and I needed a hug jason Day was there to give me one when I needed it misery loves company and so it feels nice and I’ve done it a lot on the PGA tour as well i’ve been in a lot of spots where I need hugs and I guess luckily I don’t have to worry about those moments in the foreseeable future but um it’s almost like helping how is that the case cuz we were just helping off the last hole yeah but I threw up grass it showed helping guys we have 136 we’re on the cut line that’s the quickest I think I’ve entered the cut line right there down wow that feels so weird look at it go whoa fine there just I I truly was over that ball and I’m like we’re just going to go for the center of the green that’s what we did i like it i just needed to see my ball make contact with the green out of principle I’m not going to hit driver cuz I did that a couple weeks ago on a par three it was 311 yeah we’re going to go 3wood this is ridiculous nice shot that’s a smart play Wes smart play par let’s get it but this is actually really cool though because tomorrow’s video on the Brian Bros channel we’re playing 18 tomorrow and we’re going to see who will make the cut and we could all
