Here’s a thought…….why don’t you putt with a putter you feel most comfortable with? I putt with neither a mallet nor a blade. I putt with a putter that is me….is a natural extension of my golf swing and golf style and character if you will….the epic Wilson Staff Model 2023 Revision – triple milled…face , top line and bottom sole all have milled lines.
Swapped to an early TM Spyder putter 8 years ago. Last week had 27 putts , average is 34. . Still can’t manage inside 70 yards 😮
My golf instructor promised he could help me make more putts… Problem is… No matter how hard I try I can't make more than 18 putts per round.
I practice with a scotty cameron American classic blade putter and play with a TM spider. If you can putt good with the American classic then you can putt good with anything
I went from blade with a lot of toe hang, to a small mallet (Yes! Victoria). I’m even thinking of trying a mallet with less toe hang (and potentially even center shafted). If you believe the ‘science of it’ and can put that ahead of any ‘feel’ concerns it’s mallet no brainer
I've ascended beyond the mallet or the blade. I don't use anything.
Played a Ping Anser for years and was never a good Putter. Switched to a Scotty Red X mallet in 2020…. Took a while to get used to but I’ll never switch back now
How much is Big Mallet paying you!?! Did not know I clicking into a mallet commercial! /s
Ok….for the TGL LEAGUE they should have one tournament where they must use a blade putter from the 60-80’…. Hey would be fun to watch
You ought to look at the number of guys using LAB putters. I have one and it's helped me tremendously!
The top 10 best players of all time used blade putters
what happened to nick prices zebra
Thanks for mentioning 0 benefits of using a blade. Go check the stats in majors and tell me which is better. Even recently, brooks, Bryson, colin, cam smith, have all won with blades. Cam smith is arguably one of the best putters in our generation and uses a blade. It’s the archer not the bow.
3:25 The exact face and voice of Tim Dillon. Incredible!
Acushnet Bullseye or Palmer – no space age stuff for me
how many of these 4 putts involved a blade style? the level of confidence over a putt is key and imo, heavier mallets just line up and work better…..esp inside 5 ft.

Is that bald Paul Azinger
The old Ping My Day shape is still #1 in my books.
Been golfing for 24 years only changing putter twice…early scotty newport platinum and currently the scotty newport 2.0 with BGT stability carbon shaft…my PPH avg 1.7 with blade style…tried mallet before, totally different feel, touch, and contact…don’t want to messed up my putting stroke…so i’m blade guy…
I picked up a LAB OZ.1i this year, and I personally love it. The stability, repeatability, forgiveness, and that it’s tuned to my specs make it a wonderful putter for me. I’ve played mallet putters since 1993 when I first got the Zebra, and I can’t see myself using a blade regularly. That being said, the blades are just such a stylish, iconic look, that I do think I’ll try to find a vintage blade to toss in the Sunday bag for the quick fun round on the weekend. 🙂
A whole piece on mallets and their dominant use on Tour, but zero references to LAB golf or zero torque?? That almost feels intentional.
Excellent analysis; you should do more of these
people needing “forgiveness” in putters still confuses me. i’ve been playing a Scotty Cameron Newport for a handful of years and i don’t know what could possibly be improved. putting comes down to the ability of the player to read greens and hit their mark, other than that, you’re just picking what suits your eye better. i’ll be sticking with a blade and remaining anti-LAB putter. 🤮
No talk about LAB? It’s the only putter that matters 😃
LAB lost at the Players. TaylorMade won with the Spider. Towards the end Bhati missed everything with the pogo stick. BTW, looks like many men and women pros are grounding the pogos against their chests.
Amount of YouTube Lab cucks in the comments is staggering
I tried going to an all black ping blade putter cause of the look but I still use my ping zing 2 blade putter and I sink putts! But this is interesting
I tried a few mallets last week, decided to do a fiiting, and the data and results pointed right back to a standard grip blade. Just a slightly wider blade thats a bit more forgiving. We will see how it goes once it arrives.
Ram Zebra was my first mallet
Who cares? Its like with clubs, cars, relationships… Its about feeling. Stupid post. ☠️👎
With a mallet I find I make more putts inside 2-4 ft but my distance control is abysmal. Distance control is way better with a blade but those 3 ft putts don't seem to drop as much.
Currently game a Newport 2, and really do love it. Stats tracking tells me it's no worse than my Odyssey 2-ball, so at least I'm consistent between a blade and mallet.
Blade or mallet, I still stink. 😢
