In the golf swing we’re trying effectively transfer energy from the ground, through the pelvis, out to the golf club.

If you think of the pelvis and how it sits, we’re really try to keep the spine as neutral as possible.

There’s a lot of players that may start in S posture. They start with too much pelvis bend which can really lock up the rib cage and limit the golfers ability to rotate.

The difference between to much or excessive pelvis bend can be tricky to see with just video. Around 20 degrees is a pretty good average and that vs 30 degrees doesn’t look all that different on video. But as the golfer the feeling in their core can be VERY different.

By starting with excessive pelvis bend you can lock up the spin which prevents the golfer from rotating and might lead to compensations like loosing posture. It starts a chain effect of actions all because the pelvis wasn’t in a neutral position!
