Do you hit all your irons the same distance? If so, there’s usually one thing you can do to differentiate between the irons in your set. I will explain in this video. Share your thoughts in the comments below if this helps your game.

Hello I’m Sue shapcott and today I’m in Madison Wisconsin and in this video I’m going to talk about why you may experience that all of your clubs go the same distance several times a week when I’m teaching then I’ll have someone come in for a lesson and they will say that they
Hit their 99 as far as their 7 iron their 7 IR as far as their 5 iron so they’re really trying to they’re really having difficulty differentiating in between the the clubs that they have and the good news is there’s a solution for that there’s one main
Reason why you may not be able to see any difference between the clubs that you’re hitting and that is that if you don’t generate enough Club head speed then the different characteristics of the clubs don’t make any difference to the ball that you’re hitting so what I
Mean by that is is we need a level of Club head speed so that the Loft on the club is going to make a difference in terms of how the board is taken off so whether it’s going to go higher or lower or whether you know the speed that you
Have is going to enable the shaft to do its work and create some flex and generate Club head speed or more Club head speed for you at impact so as soon as someone says that they are not generating or they’re not seeing any difference between the different clubs
That they’re hidden we know it’s because there just simply isn’t enough Club head speed and so um the first thing that you need to do is be unafraid to swing a little bit faster so that could just be trying to up your Tempo try to get a slightly
Faster Rhythm to your swing so that you can start generating a little bit more speed if you’ve been very deliberate with your Technique teque and you’re just thinking a lot about what you’re doing that’s good and that’s a good way to change your Technique but at some
Point you need to start swinging with a little bit of Rhythm and a little bit of speed so that you can differentiate between the clubs that you’re hitting or it could just be that you have intentionally been trying to swing slowly um and tried to slow everything
Down so you have a bit more control and so if that’s you then you know again if you want see difference between the clubs that you’re hit in we do need some level of Club head speed that is going to differentiate between the clubs that
You’re hit in so it’s not may not be that you’re doing anything wrong with your Technique there may not be anything wrong with your clubs you just need to create more Club headp speed so that you can get some um distance and the characteristics of each Club are going
To make a difference to how The Bard is flying so give that a go see if you can uh create some speed and get some uh difference between the different clubs in your set thank you very much for watching uh let me know if you have any questions and please don’t forget to

nice video… I agree…. I have abit of this problem too. My instructor is always telling me to swing faster. I can swing my driver fast.. but no so with my irons
150. That's my number with 6,5,4,3 irons and my 3 wood. I find it so funny i was lol'ing to myself on the driving range. I am a weekend hacker so anything in golf that goes right…namely clean contact is a bonus. A bit like my surfing. Thank u for the tip I'll try it out this weekend.
Club head speed is the ultimate driver to distance. However, if I increase the club head speed on all of my clubs and everything else remains the same (swing path, face direction etc), I would expect that the loft angle of the clubs would be the deciding factor for distance.
Great video. I do have a question though …. Let’s say my club head speed is 75-80 mph for my 7 iron ( lol, yes I’m old ). If I have the same swing for my 5 iron isn’t the club head speed going to naturally go up because the club is longer? The same could be said for my driver … right?
I've tried to figure out the reasons why different irons went the same distance. I always thought it was because the ball was not struck in the sweet spot of the club face. Right now as a 24 hcp I'm recording about 45mph to a high of 65 mph club head speeds. My driver gets about 70mph so I have a very slow swing. My irons do have different distances but yardage is pretty dismal. I use my 8 iron for distances of 110yds. If there's wind in my face I can only expect to get barely a 100yds. My 5 iron carries about 135 yds and I'm right in the middle of replacing my irons starting with long irons with equivalent hybrid lofts. I have a good golf swing I hit the ball straight I have not practiced increasing my clubhead speed. I like your fix I'll give it a whirl.
Another possible reason why your irons all go same distance because you are early releasing (casting, losing wrist angle) and flipping (your clubhead surpasses the hands right before contact). Instead of hitting down and compressing the ball, you end up hitting up on the ball, negating the loft of the club.
