Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

A phrase I remember growing up learning the game was "all the gear no idea", I played pretty well with my dads hand me down set haha
Rick your videos are a great reminder for even us seasoned golfers that we need to go back to basics when it comes to practice and just playing.
I’m my last 5 rounds I’ve 3 putted twice because I’ve been practicing my short game and trying to get the first put to go no further than 3 foot passed, my average score because of that has dropped from 98 to 84
1mph into the wind adds 1% distance to the shot. The amount it affects the shot is relative to the total distance of the shot.
10 mph wind in a 100 yard shot will make the shot play 110.
10 mph wind in a 200 yard shot will make the shot play 220.
The amount to aim right on a shot above your feet is about equal to the amount of slope you're hitting up for a PW. 5 degree slope up, aim 5 deg right. If the ball is below your feet, the slope doesn't have nearly the effect because it's impossible to sole the club flat when it's below your feet (you'll topple over!).
I loved this vid, but Rick telling people to not be too hard on themselves made me chuckle a bit, still haven't learnt that one yourself yet mate hahaha
Changed your putting grip Rick?
I can't wait to give these a try. Thanks for the videos
Such great tips! Love this. Thanks Rick
Tip Number 6, don’t throw you empties into the rough
Keep the Course litter free
Great tip from Rick – don't be too hard on yourself. I used to get annoyed for days after if I'd had a bad round but now I just take a fatalistic approach to golf and enjoy myself. Let's face it, it beats work.
Rick, you're the best. I used that same putting tip from your video with the great putting coach. It has absolutely helped eliminate my unnecessary three putts and actually started holing some more on the first putt.
Thanks so much for your videos!
You da man !!
Golfers should buy new clubs regularly, change balls continuously, buy every training gadget that comes out, and never practice unless paying for a lesson. Especially, never develop a mental side to the game, well, you are already pretty good at that one aren't you? "No, no, I don't own a golf pro shop, honestly! What makes you say that?"
I agree on Equipment. But getting the Right Clubs for your swing and getting Technical Products like Launch Monitors and Range Finders will go a long way to understanding your distances you hit each club.
Rick!!! You just did a cameo for me and I asked about the sliding weight on the Paradym to prove someone wrong . Doesn’t heel side weighting draw bias the club and toe side fade bias? Dang cameo character limit made it hard to explain. Awesome vids, love watching your content!
Rick on a separate issue you have scammers on your website answering comments.
Don't be too hard on yourself Rick…. Remember that !
Fantastic video as always Rick!
Shared this with my 12 year old who just started, really great advice, wish there was a channel I could find for kids of his age/experience/distance hitting to help with course management/expectations etc, watches Good Good and can't understand why he's taking 8's and 9's😂 Maybe I should buy a camera and start a channel with him!! 🤑…😂
Love the yardage lost with wind tip.
Your videos are always quality ⛳
I tend to average 28-33 putts per round. My first putt, the goal is always try to make it, but if I miss leave it an easy tap in. Speed is always priority
Just five? 😎
Legend
Rick from watching your videos I’ve went from shooting in the 90s and a highest of 97 and struggling to break 90, to shooting 81 two weeks in a row. Thank you so much for making these videos and helping us regular golfers
Great tips. I would add taking lessons. I learned two things from my last lesson – the importance of lag in my swing – wan't even aware of that until I was videotaped, and, as you mentioned, the importance of lag in my putts – I am now two putting much more consistently and even making some outside of 10 feet, but I am now less focused on draining 30 footers and just making a good, solid putt.
The reminder to taken it easy on yourself is *so important*! You want to do well. Golf is hard. It's so easy to get discouraged quickly. Have your 3-4 seconds of "damn I'm an idiot," but then move on. Don't mope around pissed off 6 holes later, it'll ruin your round and annoy your fellow players in your group.
As a newly minted golfer, I am a huge fan of your content Rick.
My mate (15 years deep into golf) put me onto you when I said I was interested in joining my local club, I have since been glued to your content as part of my journey towards my first handicap, making sure I have lots of fun along the way.
You're a credit to the sport and I'm sure I'm one of many who is encouraged by your continued efforts.
Keep up the good work mate 👏
What's a 'regular golfer' lol?
