Do premium golf balls make a difference and could they improve your game?
Today I’m taking a close up look at two golf balls, one is a premium golf ball and I’ll be comparing it to a budget golf ball.
Will there be any differences and what are they?

Which would you choose – cheap or expensive? 🤔🏌️♂️
In the fall kicking around the leaves, I’ll play the Taylor Made distance. Besides the RBZ, I like it the best.
I would think if the ball feels good off the club face, a budget ball will be good for most players. I use the Inesis 900 ball which works for me. Soft feeling and consistent. I you can get 2 dozen boxes of a ball you like for the same price as 1 dozen Pro V1, your happy.
As always a great video, I ve been playing the Pro v1x this year and enjoyed it immensely, it’s feels hard of the driver and soft of the irons and putter, this fall I have tried a hole lot of cheaper balls, I have found some better than others, 2 piece balls are not for me too hard off all clubs, but a good 3 piece ball with a compression around 85 to 95 really works for me at my level. I am now moving to the Maxfli tour balls for next season. Cost is a factor. 👍🏌️♂️🇨🇦
For me the TaylorMade tour response is the best of both worlds
In short, for the most part absolutely no.
I really enjoy the Taylor Made Distance ball. The price is right, especially when I tend to loose a few balls each round. Pro Vs at $50 a dozen are just too expensive to make them my everyday ball.
I have landed on Bridgestone tour B RXS balls and they are definitely worth tge extra coin for me due to the spin i get from them on the greens and the extra distance off the tee. I used to play TM soft response and then Srixon Q stsr tour.
I have a serious concern here nobody mentions – namely how biodegradable are they ?- all those lost golf balls ( I am responsible for !!!) lying in the grass in the lakes etc !
I personally would be prepared to pay BIG for a one that degrades over time – time here of course means a long period of time !
Thanks !
I actually played the Penfold Commando back in my teens, not often! We used to refer to them as a solid ball back then, today they would be a 2 piece ball! You could get 4 for about 10 Shillings (50p) ,might even have been less, and they were rubbish! If you thinned a decent wound ball, you would often put a smile in it, with a solid ball you would often walk up and fond an entire chunk missing! I could buy 1.68” Dunlop 65 cross outs for the same money and they were better in every way! Cross outs had a flaw often just paint and were technically not allowed in comps but if you were a hard up school boy eyes were turned! BTW, commando was only 1.62”!
