Rick Shiels puts the TRS Slider training aid to the test on H.I.T Golf to see whether it can actually improve your golf swing and help build better movement through the ball.

In this review, Rick takes a closer look at how the TRS Slider works, who it’s for, and whether it’s a genuine game-improvement tool or just another training aid gimmick.

Welcome to H.I.T Golf Reviews – the home of honest, independent and trustworthy golf equipment reviews.

If you want straight-talking advice on drivers, irons, wedges, putters, golf balls and golf tech, you’re in the right place. Every review is based on proper testing, launch monitor data and real on-course experience – not marketing slides.

We test all the big names (TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Titleist, Mizuno, Cobra and more) plus the direct-to-consumer brands you’re starting to hear about. New vs old, budget vs premium, “forgiving” vs “players” – we put them head-to-head so you can see what actually performs.

Our testing is built around launch monitor data (GCQuad) and real-world shots, but we always explain the numbers in normal-golfer language. No fluff, no hidden agendas – just whether a club will help your game or not.

Whether you’re:
buying your first proper set,
a mid-handicapper looking for more forgiveness, or
a low-handicap player chasing that perfect combo of feel and distance,

H.I.T is here to help you pick the right gear for your swing, not just the newest thing on the shelf.

Why H.I.T exists:
To cut through the hype.
To give golfers the truth.
To save you time, money and a few golf balls.
To make the game a bit easier – and more fun.

  1. Really should have done your research before releasing this, you’re wearing it wrong 😂. Agree the price is outrageous though.

  2. Robert rock watching this as Rick doesn’t take the 30 seconds required to read the instructions 😣
Incidentally there’s a great vid of RR practicing and he uses his prototype product at the end doing full swings

  3. I bought the Slider and it is great for fixing a flying right elbow on the backswing. However, I agree with Rick that it is very restrictive on the follow through, which limits it's effectiveness.

  4. £65 for a strap! You've gotta be kidding me on. Thanks for the idea, I'll make my own for £3 with my sewing machine!

  5. Got one, love it..only problem is the material could be stiffer,as if you use it a lot it buckles and twists, but still works well..
After consistent use it trains your right arm into the correct angle.
When I first used it then took it off I couldn’t hit the ball😂 but now it feels pretty much the same as having it on,but a bit looser.
I use it all the time it is worth every penny..the reason that Rick can’t get through properly is because he wears it too low, although this can work for wedge play..(3 handicap FYI )

  6. Re the comment on pricing. Personally I think £64 is ok. Let’s be honest you are only ever going to buy one and so it’s a limited market. Compare that to two dozen balls which most will lose in a year.

Compared to the towel drill. Depends if you’re one of those people who can’t be bothered to pick it back up again after 5 shots. The towel wins for me, but I see where there is a market for this.

  7. From watching Athletic Motion Golf where they use Gears, the 3d database of professional golfers, tucking you elbow is a myth. Check this 3D illustration of Rory McIlroy https://youtu.be/0uPmerNdvhk?si=DN2dlf6awOM6NePH&t=168.

A towel under your arm pits is better, towel should be stuck under arm pits, so its pressure by the arm pits, but the elbow can move away from the body in the backswing. Check the video, and you will see how far Rory's elbow moves away from his rib cage. They don't call the golfer Rory, but they refer to him as "the best ever driver of the ball".

  8. Doesn't sticking a glove or headcover under the trail armpit do the same thing?
And, Doesn't it restrict width in the backswing?
