We’re the best in the world!! At being loud and obnoxious

  3. Zastavarian

A lot of us have watched European soccer… We’ve heard the chants that make you cheer. Lets not act like you’re magically civilized once stepping on to a course.

  4. scottiedagolfmachine

Like other countries don’t do it?

    Lol.

    😂

  6. Golf fans are turning into hockey or soccer fans. I don’t like it.

  7. I can’t tell if Americans do that chant ironically or if they really lack the self-awareness of how fucking cringe it is.

  8. ChocolatePrimary3428

Chad, Brad, and Harris slamming $20 beers and shouting mashed potato and USA USA USA doesn’t have the impact on the European golfers they think it does.

  9. leafscitypackersfan

I say this as a Canadian – there is nothing wrong with being patriotic. Its when you start booing or dunking another country where it becomes problematic.

You’re allowed to cheer for your country, just don’t be an idiot about other peoples countries.

  10. ItemizedDeductions

Lotta uptight Europeans in here that take things waaaaaaaay too seriously

  11. Radiant_Pudding5133

The yanks are shite at coming up with chants but let’s not pretend other countries don’t either chant for their own country or make up derogatory ones about the opposition’s

  12. Ok-Till-5622

I don’t care lol people will bitch just to bitch. There is absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever with chanting “USA” when an American is playing.

  13. Pillow_Pants1313

It’s times like these where I’m reminded I am indeed on Reddit

  14. Background-Half-2862

They do it during NHL games where 90% of the players on the “American” team are Canadian or European.

  15. CheFigata20

Oh jeez here come the brigading elitist Europeans 😂

  16. Later_Doober

Yeah I will never understand why people do this.

  17. Correct-won-6156

Those people chanting are the same people who think flying a flag on their truck is patriotic. It’s all performative just like their religious cults.

  18. Slick_Tuxedo

“Nationalism does nothing but teach you to hate people you never met, and take pride in accomplishments you had no part in”

    Stanhope

  19. eggs_and_bacon

The US is like one, giant, third-generation nepo baby. We take credit for the accomplishments of other generations before us, inflate our egos with a false sense of self-importance, and simultaneously destroy any remaining respect we once held as the dominant global hegemonic power.

And when a majority of the population has the literacy of a sixth grader, the end result is golf chuds chanting “USA, USA, USA”

  20. BigBallNadal

Ryder Cup destroys this meme annually. Ever culture has deranged idiots lol

  21. BluntBeaver83

I love my country. I love the men and women who represent it. But it’s not the Ryder Cup. There is a time and a place, and it isn’t at random PGA events where people from across the world come to showcase their skill and talent. Olympics? Fine. Ryder Cup, fine. Heritage? Seems weird.

  22. TheSpideyJedi

Ive never even understood why we chant USA. Like, I am patriotic, I served in the military, but why would I chant USA? Ive never understood

  23. Phalanx521

Who cares about what the rest of the world thinks?

  24. Friar_Corncob

The UFC fans will just be chanting USA when two non US fighters are fighting.

  25. Sabrina Carpenter’s PR team trying super hard to make her a meme.

Why is every sports fan on reddit so soft?

  27. swampy13

It doesn’t make me mad, it just makes those people look really lame. But, this is the America we have now, I guess.

  28. Gantz-32

Sometimes Reddit is reminder there is juts some people who actually need their handheld in public.

  29. trustworthysauce

Most pros I have heard talk about it, including Fitz last week, said they don’t mind it and they actually feed off of it. My hot take is that this is not the most annoying thing yelled at tournaments.

  30. SirMellencamp

What are they going to chant if Shane Lowry and Brooks Kepka are leading on the final hole?

  31. Some_Number_8516

It’s really just lazy, like “Scott-y! Scott-y!, etc.” is right there and doesn’t weirdly make it about where the golfers are from, like that matters.
