You can argue the value of a fitting for different levels of golfer. But, if you’re going to get fitted you might as well have a chance to try everything. Club Champion carries iron heads you can’t try at Golf Galaxy or PGA-SS (Miura for example). They also carry some great shaft options, one in particular, VA Composites, worked really well for me. Their fitters are usually very well trained and will find the best result for you most of the time.
But…buying clubs there is a TOTAL ripoff which has been covered here at length.
So, here’s what you do. Assuming you’re willing to buy a new putter (since they don’t mark those up) look out for the full bag fitting promotion. You’re going to pay $100 for 3-4 hours of someone’s time. That’s worth it. Do the entire fitting. Take notes on your phone of what you like. Since us degenerates buy new putters all the time, enjoy getting fit for one for once. Buy it from CC so you can take advantage of these promos that come up all the time. Father’s Day should be the next big one.
Take all of your other specs and go to Dallas golf or fairway jockey dot com. BONUS — Fairway Jockey during the holidays does 20% extra on gift cards. You can buy a $1,200 gift card for $1,000. That more than double covers your fitting fee and some of the putter you bought too.

Or. Hear me out. Just get fit somewhere else
Club champion is ripoff for what they charge for shafts that you can get with no charge for the oem
I went there before I knew, but after I got the sheet I priced it what it costs to buy it direct from the manufacturer. They matched that price from the different companies and called it a day.
This was 5 years ago so they might not do that again, but I’m pretty sure they would rather get the sale than not.
Solid advice – thanks for sharing! (I had not even heard of Fairway Jockey)
…just go to 2ndSwing.com and save yourself the time.
Im all for saving money but sometimes its just goes too far.
until the Club Champion employees see this and change their offer 😂
Your experience will heavily depend on the fitter you get at CC. They are working on commission so you will get the hard sell at the end of the fitting. You will need to remain firm with them or even possibly clarify at the beginning what you plan on buying. I agree that they have a ton of selection and have a nice setup. Just need to know going into it that their prices on shafts and grips, “puring” etc all have intentional markup.
I would actually prefer to pay full price for the fitting with no hard sell at the end and an unbiased fitting. Such as if they make more commission on marked up custom shafts when a cheaper or even stock shaft would work, etc.
Pgatss has miura for fitting
My recommendation would be to (1) get fit at a country club that can fit you outdoors while using a monitor and use their buyers club for a large discount or (2) if No. 1 is not available to you, search the your favorite brands’ websites for demo days near you and you will often get fit outdoors with a trackman with 80% of the options available to you for free.
The club purchase usually must be more than the original fitting fee and putters are not considered custom unless you request an upgraded shaft. Same with wedges.
So if it’s full bag you have to purchase $400+ worth of custom clubs.
You take a small punch this way but at least you avoid the horrendous markups for anything else.
I’m lucky that I have friends in the industry so I get all my shit about 50% off. I found a guy that’s at my local pgatss and I pretty much just tell him what to hand me and he doesn’t say much, I know what I’m looking for. $50 or $75 (can’t remember) for a driver fitting and they have most all the newest shafts.
I get fitted every three years. Been to most places and as a 2 handicap I can say club champion is the best place I’ve been fitted. Here In Arizona to be fair though. Never pushed brands on me.
I’ll never get fit there since they purely run off commissions
>Club Champion carries iron heads you can’t try at
Doesn’t really matter. Any decent fitter will have a strong enough selection to find you a head that’s really good for you. Having a handful of exotic extra options is unlikely to be a significant benefit.
Overall pretty good advice though – maybe beware their fitters though. I had one who didn’t know how strike location on a driver impacts spin rates… never again.
Thanks for the Fairway Jockey 20% tip!
