So, three days ago, Amazon released a golf ball. I did not have that on my bingo card for this year. The Amazon Basics Core Soft and it’s basic. It’s just a cardboard box with some blank white sleeves that cost a dollar a ball. If you bought 24, it was $24. Or if you bought 12, it was $14.40 and it’s sold out. There’s no white ones left on the website as of this recording. There’s only the yellow ones left because I think a lot of the golfers out there think this might be something that can compete with the Kirkland Signature, which is a golf ball that’s a good value that can actually hang with a Pro V1. And we’re going to find out in today’s video. I’m just testing this. I’ve already warmed up with this with the log wedge. We’ll talk about that as I test a little bit more because I just need to hit this golf ball to see what kind of numbers this dollar a ball golf ball can sand wedge 7 iron and driver just to get a first impression on what kind of numbers this golf ball produces. I understand it’s not for me. It’s for your kind of like mid- handicap, high handicap, budget conscious golfer. But let’s see what kind of performance we get out of the Amazon Basics course off. So, I’m going to go with sand wedge. Like, I’m just looking to hit these 105 yards. See what kind of spin I can get and launch and all that. 102 launch at 29. I mean, that’s not bad. That felt like a fine shot. Just under 10,000 or 9,500 RPM spin. There’s a bit higher launch. Good spin. Little little low, but not terrible. See, the spin’s down a little bit there. 105. The launch is high, though. 30 couple degrees high. This is not letting you see spin. This right here doesn’t feel awesome. It really feels like a bouncy ball. It doesn’t feel like a golf ball to me. And I know people are going to be thinking like, “Oh, is this a competitor for the Kirkland?” It is not. It is definitely not a competitor for the Kirkland ball. Two different types of categories, I believe. I mean, I’m hitting my distance really well. That’s pretty good. It It launches really straight. It flies really straight because the spin is lower. I mean, I’m hitting my number. It’s just it’s flies so straight. I think that’s one of the few things they say on like on Amazon like oh, it’s got a straight flight technology, whatever that means. Face a little open there. Distance was still what I wanted. 104 in the air. Launch was higher. Spin was up to 95. It doesn’t feel great. It’s launching high. It’s not spinning quite enough, but it’s hitting the yardage. I want it to hit a full one. Like a hard sand wedge. And let’s see what happens. Probably a full sand wedge would be like 110. Not quite 115, but I I ball speed was pretty good. Spin was better there. But I’m just trying to hit this 105 yardage and then I can reference past tests to see what kind of ball speed and spin I get from 105. That one had no spin. 8,800 spin. That’s not enough spin for a sand wedge. So that’s 11 shots. I feel like the 10 that I was going for 105 are going to give us a good little uh summary of what kind of data we get hitting that shot, that flighted controlled sand wedge for me. So to look at the numbers with the sand wedge, I’ve eliminated that one or I’m hiding the one that I tried to hit hard just to see what it did. The numbers are good. Like the spin is down a little bit. Not concerning, but not ideal. The launch was was okay. And the ball speed was pretty spot-on to what kind of ball speed I experienced from 105 yards with all the wedges I’ve tested, different balls I’ve tested. The performance with the sand wedge was actually better in the data than what I experienced here. I’m going to do a video with this stuff like out at the golf course and like what the encourse performance is, but we’re just focusing on the numbers of what this golf ball can do. And it’s not bad. It’s launching a little bit high. It was really concerning in the warm-up. That felt like hitting a range ball. It launched so high on like 3/4 lob wedges and spun like 5,000 six. It felt like a range ball. It feels like a bouncy ball, but numbers wise, it’s not as bad as I expected it to be with the sand wedge. Going into seven iron, just want to hit this thing. I just want to hit solid shots and see what it does. I’m not trying to hit a yardage. I’m not trying to necessarily hit a club speed. I just want to hit this solid and see what it does. That’s low spin. All right. Really low spin on just a smooth 7 iron. 182 yards, though. But that’s low spin. Low spin. 4,800 RPM. I didn’t hit that very well. So, we’ll crack 10 seven irons and see see what the data shows. [Laughter] Just a rocket. Just an absolute rocket. 187 in the air. Sub 5,000 spin. Thinn that one. Jeez. like I can struggling to get 5,000 RPM out of this thing. So, you say this is for the mid- handicap golfer that doesn’t generate as much spin. They’re going to need some launch, but they’re going to need spin. So, the fact that this is, I think, a lower or higher launching ball, but a lower spinning ball, that’s not great aerodynamics. That’s aerodynamics that are just going to let the golf ball fall out of the sky. Especially when we get into wind or we get into those shorter irons. If it’s launching high with not enough spin, it’s falling out of the sky. That’s not ideal, especially for those, you know, 15 to 20 handicap players. Okay, let’s have a look at the data. So, looking at the seven iron, I started to see the the gaps or the holes with this golf ball. Sure, the distance was fine. The distance was fine. It was going what I would hit a 7 iron, roughly 180 yards. Ball speed was down though. Ball speed at 124. That’s like four or so miles lower than what a typical 7iron would be for me. The spin is way too low. Like struggling to spin it over 5,000 with a 7iron. That is not good. Pair it with launch that’s a couple degrees high. What I experienced with the seven iron was what I was experiencing with the warm up with the lob wedge. launching high, spinning not enough, but flying really straight because something that’s launching higher and not spinning enough, it’s kind of knuckling. That’s really good for a lot of golfers, but it’s not good for being consistent. I’m going to call a spade a spade. The numbers are fine, but they’re not going to be get consistent play out on the golf course because like I said, if it launches too high with not enough spin, it’s falling out of the sky and that becomes really problematic on the golf course. It’s not so problematic in here, but it’s very problematic on the golf course. The numbers are fine, the distance is fine, but we’re not just focusing on distance. Does the golf ball go the distance we want it to go? It’s how does it get that distance? And is that going to be repeatable over time? Because if we put a 15 20 handicap in here who doesn’t strike it as solidly from time, you know, time to time, shot to shot with poor launch characteristics, poor spin, low ball speed, that could be that could be a little more difficult out on the golf course. So the big stick, we’ve seen lower spinning, higher launching in the wedges and in the middle of the bag. So, if we see that with this, that’s going to make for a long golf ball for a lot of people because something that’s not spinning a lot off the tea can go a long way. But again, higher launch, low spin, that’s not optimal flight characteristics. So, let’s see what we get here. 1600 spin. So, that that was kind of like a feeler. That that swing felt fine. and it wasn’t my best swing. The ball speed is low and that spin is low. And this is where I think this ball, the versatility of this ball, it lacks. Like obviously it’s not for faster swings, better players, cuz I don’t think this ball is going to generate the ball speed that I would expect out of a golf ball cuz it’s not meant for me whatsoever. So that was like a whiff. So, we saw the spin go up to 25 and the ball speed went up a little bit because you can see my path went 5.3° to the left. What I mean, I hit that high on the face. Didn’t even spin 1,000 RPM. What? I’ve never seen that in my life, I don’t think. Oh my gosh. I mean, that was hit well. That should have faded, but like what I felt with like the sandwich and the 700, they just kind of fly straight. I mean, 1,700 RPM. I pulled it a bit, but it was a pull with like a not a closed face, and it’s just like this low knuckle ball. It did not feel or perform great with the warm-up on the lob wedge or the sand wedge. And it’s not on the driver, but it’s not meant for me. We’re just trying to get the numbers and just see what this golf ball can do. It’s so hard for it to curve because it’s got no spin. I mean, those numbers are great. Like, if I were to just look at the carry, awesome. I hit a 290 in the air and it would run out if that hit the fairway. But that spin, that is not enough spin. And that ball speed is just that was awesome. Like I hit that one really well. Little low on the face. Launch was great. 1,800 RPM spin. That’s the most ball speed I’ve seen out of it. 165. All right, that’s six. Let’s get 10 so we can have a look at what uh what it all says. The driver numbers, the distance was fine on some of them. an average of 287. That’s low for me. I probably am in here averaging 5 to 7 yards further. I’m not averaging 300 in the air. The total of 311, that’s pretty consistent because the spin on average across those 10 was 1,850. That is so low. That’s like 600 RPMs, not enough spin. The ball speed is is low. The ball speed’s like 6 miles lower than what an average would be for me. That club head speed is about my cruising average. And the launch was actually pretty good. But just like the 7 iron, these aren’t numbers that be get consistent play on the golf course. It’s not for me. I understand this golf ball is not for me. But a golf ball that launches high, spins not enough, especially for a 15-ish handicap who struggles mainly with the T- ball, that can be problematic. Sure, it can eliminate the curvature because it’s not spinning enough, but again, it’s not optimal. It’s fine, but it’s not optimal. I said I’m going to take this golf ball out around the course on the greens and just like really dive deeper, but I I had to see the numbers on this thing because I was not optimistic. It performed numbers wise better than I thought it did. I don’t have reference of like a Callaway Super Soft to to see, but this golf ball is not comparable to the Kirkland Performance Plus. It’s not comparable to the Vice Pro Plus. It’s not I don’t know the makers um whatever Sam’s Club ball, but I think that was meant to compete with the Kirkland. This is not meant to compete compete with that. This is meant to be that very middle of the road 1520 handicap dollar a ball qualitywise. Let’s see. So, I hit 43 shots with this golf ball and it looks completely fine. I’ve done the same amount of testing with other golf balls that get chewed up, especially the wedge. I watched one quick Instagram piece on this that it anticipated this not having durability and that thing got beat around in here and it’s pretty durable. So, the quality might be there, but I could look at another one and who knows what the same quality is throughout the dozen. First impression, the numbers are fine. Not for me. You got to see what it does. So, if you are that 1520 handicap golfer that wants good value, I mean, it’s a dollar a ball. The numbers are fine. The performance is fine. The durability is there. We’ll go see what it’s like on the golf course in another video. But yeah, sound off in those comments. Have you bought it? What do you think? Would you buy it?

  1. Why is everyone obsessed with this ball? It's just a bang average two piece with an ionomer cover.

  2. Bro trusts that simulator too much for a proper review. Put your video game away and see what the ball actually does.
