Q&A with Tevin Ali, who oversees marketing for Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation public golf courses

Osprey Point in South County Regional Park in suburban west Boca and Southwinds on Lyons Road in west Boca; Okeeheelee, Park Ridge in west Lake Worth, and John Prince Golf Learning Center on Congress Avenue in Lake Worth.

Q: I’m hearing there’s a new rush for tee times at Osprey. Is that true?
A: There’s definitely strong demand right now at Osprey Point Golf Course, but that’s not new. Across our Palm Beach County golf family of courses there’s always been a lot of community passion and interest around tee times. We’ve also recently added a new fleet of GPS-equipped golf carts across all our courses.

Q: When did it start?
A: We’ve seen consistently strong demand since Covid. The golf industry as a whole saw an increase in people wanting to play golf, and it has stayed strong since.

Q: What’s the average wait time now for tee times?

A: There’s no wait time for tee times. Prime morning tee times tend to go quickly due to high demand; afternoon and off-peak times are usually easier to find. Tee times become available 14 days in advance to our primary residents who have a Frequent Player Card (FPC), 10 days to our Seasonal residents with a FPC Card and 7 days to the general public. Book tee times at pbcgolf.com

Q: What are you hearing about why this happened?
A: Our commitment has always been providing quality golf that’s affordable and accessible to the community. Osprey Point was recently named the 2026 Municipal Course of the Year out of more than 2,900 courses nationwide. National and local recognition also plays a role.

Q: Is Southwinds in west Boca offering tee times? What happened there?
A: Southwinds Golf Course is still very much a public course…and remains a local favorite. Phase two of their renovations started April 1, 2026, focusing on the fairways. Around May 4, the front nine and chipping area will temporarily close, while the back nine stays open for both nine- and eighteen-hole play. Southwinds went through a six-month renovation starting in May 2025, with upgrades to greens, tee boxes and irrigation system (the first major update in about 25 years), and reopened in October 2025.

Q: Is Osprey still three 9-hole courses?

A: Osprey Point Golf Course is still a 27-hole facility with three 9-hole courses.

Q: Anything else golfers should know?
A: We always encourage people to explore our full family of courses, including our John Prince Golf Learning Center practice facility, which was recently voted the top sports attraction in Palm Beach County this year.
