This tip poses a question. Once you see it this way, it should become clear which one will hit the ball longer. If you see it this way hopefully you will start to loosen your wrists and get more distance with irons and driver.

Imagine there’s two of you. There’s one here and there’s one here. The only difference between them is this one has loose wrists. Which of these two is going to hit the golf ball longer? Well, it’s going to be this one, of course, because the looser something is, the faster it swings. If you have hit the golf ball for a long time with your arms and wrists all locked up, you’re not used to a feeling of loose. So, what it is, it’s a sensation of, you know, the hinging here and rehinging here. But as you do that, it kind of feels like you’re losing control of the club. Your wrist can only hinge and rehinge so much because the bones in your wrist only hinge and rehinge so much. So, it’s not going to be out of control. You can only do it so so much. But that’s a feeling that you’re going to have to get used to. So, why not just start off with that? Just stand here like this. You can do it with your driver or an iron. I’m holding on securely. I’m just hinging in my wrists right here. So, see how that makes a letter L? Then my hands come down like that. They cross over and they make a backwards letter L right here. That would be rehinging. So, you just sit here and you go L. You could actually look over at it. L. By the time you’re looking over at this, you see the backwards L. Okay, why not do that just kind of slow for a few minutes? Okay, just to even understand, okay, it’s going to feel like that and then that hinge. Okay, good. And then rehinge. And then just slowly, you know, kind of go back and forth. Loosen that up. Okay. So, you kind of get that sensation.

  1. I can’t for the life of me to keep loose wrist and come close to hitting a drive straight. Not even close to squaring up the ball.

  2. When I tighten my grip then my wrists are Stiff. If I keep a loose grip i slash 😢. I'm fed up with it. But my irons have improved tremendously all by your advice

  3. Love your content sir! I saw you share this concept multiple years ago and began teaching it to my mom! She is now 84 and the distance she gets as well as just joy from the game is so amazing! Thanks for doing what you do! URPCKAGE❤️

  4. Do you keep you left arm straight during your swing by pushing outward with your right hand? I ask because if you do, it's more difficult to have a loose wrist. At least for me. If there can be a very slight bent in the left arm, it's easier for the wrist to be loose.

  5. Hi Paul; I understand your point about loose wrists but before the wrists are involved, without any body rotation, I'm sure you've seen the drill, my arms move much faster & I hit the ball nearly as far as using my body. Is this due to an improper sequence?
