Old debate with some friends that came up in convo. Jammed this into the cup from 100y. bad angle but more of the ball is beneath the surface of the green than above it. Resting on the plastic cup. Impossible to even mark because the ball would just fall in

Holed?

Not in. The ball must be completely below the hole. Mark, fix and tap. Or tap and fix.

  2. SnooCauliflowers6739

If it’s against the flag and any part of the ball is below the surface – it’s in

Edit – I see it’s not against the flag!

  3. Unlucky_Face_1487

Not in. It’s not resting against the flag

  4. antitheta

What if you fix the spot set it down and it falls in?

  5. WasabiTsunamiUpOnMe

Depends if you care about the rules of golf, or passing the Reddit vibe check.

If I was playing with my buddies who don’t know the official rules I’d gas them up and call it a hole in one. If this is in a tournament for money, then it’s not a hole in one.

  7. FreshOrFrozenShrimp

When you’re a golfer that doesn’t play competitively, you just do you. If you want to say it is holed, do you. If you want to take a putt and count that as holed, do you.

  8. OnlyLockz

Not sure of the rule but what would happen if you mark the ball, fix the divot and then try to put the ball back. It would go into the hole every time. So how do you get around it not falling into the hole after you mark it?

  9. Independent_Garage31

This perfectly describes the douchbag nature of Reddit. Unless you are on the PGA tour that ball is in. If this happened to me I would never play another round with anyone telling me thats ball is not holed. Jesus Christ, this is why the world sucks today, bc everyone is a karen.

Why does it still have a pool noodle on it

  11. too-reasonably

Where on earth are golf courses still using the little COVID fun noodle in the holes?

  12. worm30478

This happening is probably more rare than just going in. The angle it had to take to not touch the flag stick at all and plug like that is insane.

  13. docmoose13

At least it stayed there for an easy birdie. Closest I’ve ever got to a hole-in-one was a shot that landed even closer destroyed the edge of the hole, and bounced 20 feet off the green. I think I got bogey!

  14. AllHailTheHypnoFloat

if were playing for casual money (5$ or less) or less, i’d give that to you

if we’re playing for real money or beer, fuck no, tap that in

  15. FredOcho5

If you’re not 100percent convinced now, you’ll never feel like you actually holed out. It’s a no for me

  16. FatFaceFaster

Good lord is your course still using noodles?

  17. East-Commercial-2371

Or just realize you are not on the tour and celebrate your buddies hole in one?

  18. DrRichardTrickle

From the tee box this probably looked like you jarred it. Golf is a cruel, cruel bitch…

  19. Fr0stbite37

I’m paying to play play. It is if you’re in my group

  20. sloshuaa

Was this taken in 20? Or are courses still rocking pool noodles? Lean that flag against and re take the pic, oh look, a hole in one 😆

  21. Teachmehow2dougy

If I had any friends that wouldn’t count that as a hole out I wouldn’t want to play golf with them.

  22. tombomb1990

Good for CTP but maybe next time hit it a little softer?

  23. Cantseetheline_Russ

Nope. Have seen this in competition.

  24. Subie780

I think the next person that makes one of these posts should also add one photo at ground level. Just a suggestion because its kinda of a wierd angle to see how deep it went in this Pic.

  25. toothbrush81

Dude that’s crazy. Ouch. We need to ask Bryson for the ruling.

  26. B_the_ball

If ball is embedded in the side of the hole the entire ball must be beneath the surface for it to count as holed.

  27. Why is there a piece of a noodle in there? Is this pic from the VID days? If so, I recall if it hits the flagstick, it’s in. God, my handicap was so inaccurate back then.

  28. Croxy1992

The rule is that its not a hole out. You mark it just outside of the cup. The entire ball has to be below the surface of the green, in the hole. If you take it out, fix the mark, and it falls in, you move the ball back until it doesn’t.

Its already a once in a million shot to do what you did, but think about it this way…

If the ground wasn’t soft enough to hold the ball, it likely would have bounced at angle that it wouldnt have gone in. Probably gonna bounce off at a crazy angle. Take the gimme birdie! Lol
