Golf legend tells Omar she should be sent back to Somalia after her Kirk comments. Omar calls Kirk’s legacy dust bin of history. Mickelson responds harshly. Golf legend Phil Mickelson criticized Minnesota representative Ilhan Omar on Saturday following her remarks insulting conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. During a CNN interview, Omar reaffirmed her social media comments labeling Kirk Dr. Frankenstein and said his legacy belongs in the dust bin of history. She added that many people continued to honor Kirk despite what she called his reprehensible statements greater than I am not going to sit here and be judged for not wanting to honor any legacy this man has left behind. We should hopefully move on and forget the hate that he spewed every single day. Omar said Mickelson fired back on X formerly Twitter writing that Omar spews hate every time she opens her mouth and expressing hope that she would be sent back to Somalia soon. His posts supporting Kirk, who was recently assassinated in Utah, received mostly praise from his followers. Mickelson has previously commented on Kirk’s death, noting it has revealed both the best in humanity and some of the worst. Meanwhile, Omar has faced backlash from Republicans since her initial comments about Kirk. Some GOP lawmakers, including Representative Nancy Mace, RSC, attempted to push for a censure, but the measure failed. House Main Street Caucus Chairman Mike Flood Arb announced he will refer Omar for an ethics investigation, citing her comments following Kirk’s assassination and alleged violations of House rules. Omar has defended herself, insisting her words were taken out of context and emphasizing that she condemns violence. She expressed sympathy for Kirk’s family, stating that her faith teaches the power of peace, empathy, and compassion.
