[Music] hi I’m James O i’m here at Elie Callaway Performance Center i’m here with Brian her from Callaway Golf R&D and you’re going to talk to me a little bit about what’s in my hand here yeah so uh we’ve made some changes to our Odyssey chipper what we’ve done is we’ve redefined the shape into something that looks more like a hybrid and performs a little bit more like a hybrid out of the rough and the turf and the thought process there is that you know better players and even tour players sometimes will use their hybrids to do a little bump and run onto the green uh and we think that really helps inspire confidence and make it easy to chip around the greens okay well let’s give this a try all right well looks like a putter it sets up like a putter yeah lie angle closer to a putter here so you can uh use the putting stroke wow off of this tight lie it’s amazing how it’s easy to get under the ball yeah so the big sole on this pulls the CG down uh making the ball want to pop up when you hit it let me hit one more off of a really tight lie ball’s sitting down almost yeah just it’s a a sensation of of a putting stroke not using the wrist it it doesn’t make you want to use the wrist which you see a lot of amateurs do and it doesn’t get stuck through the turf this this grass tends to get really sticky and I when I put the ball down I think the sole the design of the sole really helps you not get caught yeah so the sole is similar to the hybrid sole that we have now in the in the fairway wood where you know the whole sole isn’t interacting we have a little bit of a step there in the back so it’s not getting caught but there’s plenty of sooul so you’re not getting stuck in the turf right right right all right now I’m going to show you how to use this thing you’re going to set up just like a putt and use only your shoulders no wrist the the tempo is the same as a putting stroke and the feels really same as a putt so if you’re just starting out golf or you struggle with your chipping especially off of tight lies the Odyssey Chipper will definitely give you some confidence around the greens [Music]
