  1. Your fitting was off a mat, never helps as launch and spin is always different. I was fitted properly off grass and was very happy until my father passed away, he had kept my first set of irons from age 14 (my previous clubs had been a jumble sale mishmash) my first set of Dai Rees Strokemasters, were blades, and 1-4 woods (tiny things), i played them for a month, and shot my best score of 2025 with them????? The woods are tiny, but play like hybrids, driver is 5 degrees and a rocket ship, can hit the 2 wood off the deck, i have 3,5,7 and 9 irons, so need to manufacture shots which has improved my game immensely. So now i play one week a month with my old clubs, tribute to my father, fun and focuses the mind re strike

  2. For me a person on low income, my goal was to get a set of irons that were all the same make and model, that I could reasonably hit and under £100.

I found a second hand set for£100 4i to SW. Callaway big Bertha's with the cavity back on the 4 and 5 iron.

Now why would I change these before mastering them? Keep things consistent. There's so many inconsistencies in golf, why introduce another by changing clubs, unless there's something seriously wrong with the club.

Generally a set of irons will probably outlast the golfer.

End result, ….. Why keep changing Matt?

    Answer? I'm sponsored

  3. Matty, the JPXs give you confidence and swagger! You may have won the Rick Shields OG major with them.

  4. 5mins 54secs stats seem very strange 8i 168, 7i 171 and 6i 210…….!!!!!!!! Rory hits his 6i 210 don't think Matt has that sort of swing speed……

  5. Yeah I'd edit that thumbnail because if I'm Mizuno I'm canceling your contract immediately. It's not their fault that you picked an iron of theirs that you aren't good enough to play. Super unprofessional

  6. Back in the day Monty dominated with his Big Berthas. I've never understood why everyone wants to make the game any harder than it already is.

  7. I have a set of T100 1st generation irons that bought in 2019 I knew then when got em that they were way above my handicap level (20) but decided I didn’t want to be spending another £800-£1K within several years time to get another set and would try and improve my swing so could get the most out of them. I have to say that whilst I’ve agonised at times over whether I made the right decision with swing improvements I’m feeling more confident using them. Granted they are not the best in terms of blistering distance and forgiveness but the control you get on them is unreal when you can get your swing sorted and contact relatively pure. Offcentre and thin contacts can be quite harsh on the hands but I advocate persistence with improving your swing and getting a set of clubs that you can effectively grow to getting used to while developing your technique. Ultimately it depends how patient you are and how serious you are about playing golf.

  8. Did you try the Mizuno pro 245's or 243's? I am a 6 handicap with 93mph average 7 iron swing speed, while using 130g extra siff shafts, and I play the MP 245's and love them. Best of luck with the JPX925 forged, hope they are the right fit for you! Not having the right clubs for your game is probably the most annoying thing and honestly can ruin the joy of playing golf.

  9. I’m 67 yo, w Mp 221 blades 5hcp , Know your yardage pick the correct club
Yes there are longer distance irons , 10-20 yards wide of target,

  10. To many golfers are snobs , I don’t give a F..k what I’ve got in my bag if it make me play better I’m using it

  11. Must be nice, just to change irons for free.
Kinda rubs people's nose in it, seriously did this need to be shared?

  12. I don't really get the move to the JPX range. Just totally jumped from S3 blades to ultra playable improvement clubs. MP 241s would have been too similar to the S3s but surely the MP243 would have been the next step. Tweener irons that offer feel and playability with a bit of help if you aren't striping them every time.

  13. I have gone back to my EZs hopefully they will work. Good improvement for yourself deffo more suited to you

  14. In 2005, I bought a secondhand set of clubs, which people thought I was mad to buy, because they weren't well known in the UK and the irons had graphite shafts. They were orlimar Trimetal irons, I still have them and they progressed my game from high seventies to low seventies/par. I had the shafts of the 4, 5 and 6 irons shortened to 7 iron length and had GolfPride midsize half cord grips fitted. They are easily the best irons I have hit and they cost £120. Never judge clubs on their looks, make or worse still, choose them because a pro uses them.

  15. Such a timely video, I have been playing JPX 923 forged pretty successfully (6.2 index) for over a year now but have been so tempted to grab Miz 241 or S-3 even though I know a bit beyond my level. I think I will stick to the 923 forged.

  16. Why not go for the JPX 925 Tours? Seems like they would the perfect middle ground. Better looking than the Forged, but longer and more forgiving than the S3s.

  17. I play the S3 and also have a set of much more forgiving Mizunos. A bad shot is a bad shot with both sets but a good shot with the S3 is so much more precise that it saves me strokes. I loved S3, but my head said I need something more forgiving. I try something more forgiving and I always go back to S3.

  18. We have a Scratch Handicapper at the club l am at that uses hot faced irons, hits his 6 iron 200 metres , always in play with them, always consistent with them, our course has quite narrow fairways so position of the tee is crucial to scoring well at our course, unfortunately looks are everything to some players where consistency is too others, food for thought, cheers Matt

  19. Is it about the same as with amateurs mostly. Lofty hopes for how far one hits each club? Hitting a longer club more eased will be more accurate anyway.

  20. When it comes to golf clubs a high percentage of golfer pick clubs because the way they look , how expensive they are, the newest model, all to show off to the other members at their local club. Pick the ones that make the game easier, would like to see you play 18 holes with the most forgiving set of clubs and see how you get on .

  21. I have the jpx919 forged irons, so in your opinion, would I see any benefits in changing them for these new jpx925 irons, what do you think.
    I play off 13.8 handicap.
I get on really well with my irons..
    Thanks..

  22. Matt, when are we going up to Mizuno for my bag fitting. Surely I’ve won the 250k subscribers competition. 🙏🏻

Also mate, my game has improved so much by me just not chasing silly distances. For the last 2 years I was chasing distance. Trying to murder clubs, yes I can hit a 7 190 yards but I hit my target 1 in 10. Instead trying to hit 7 iron 165-170 with a shorter more compact swing I soon realised my dispersion is so my tighter. That goes for every club, more fairways found and green in regs means happier golf. Not 15 yards of extra distant on one hole, while you spend the rest of the round looking for your ball.

  23. Yes, I made the mistake 3 years ago getting the 223 Pro. They look and sound great, but wow, the drop-off is amazing.
