Following on from our course lesson. We both felt my tee game lacked intention and confidence. So here’s our lesson from working exactly that.
In this lesson Rob wanted to keep it nice and simple, reducing my weak fades/slices off the tee by learning how to draw the ball.
As I’m still building confidence he didn’t want to get technical as he knows I like to keep my swing fluid – so simply talked about two key points to help me improve strike & change my ball flight from high rights to bombing draws! (or straighter at least!)
1. Getting away from my fade set up (which encourages an out-to-in swing path) by practicing an exaggerated draw set up.
2. Identifying my heel strike was counteracting any chance to of drawing the ball due to gear effect. So simply learning or trying to hit it from the toe – again an exaggerated feel which got me learning where the middle of the clubface was.
Rob told me off camera he really wants to get my wrist angles sorted for the real long term benefits and we’ll begin to work on that more soon.
After a much better round off the tee today I’m already feeling more confident but know it’s work in progress.
Next lesson we’ll look at Trackman numbers to see exactly where my path and Angle of Attack is aswell as assess how impact location is affecting flight.
