#chicagobears QB #tysonbagent sits down in the #rekap studio with #kap & #guff as the trio discuss the exciting year ahead for the Bears. Why and what is different thus far with #benjohnson? Is #calebwilliams ready to explode in Year 2? Can #gervondexter turn into an #allpro? Is Bagent a candidate for an extension and what he sees in himself as a possible starter one day in the NFL.

Deep dish or thin crust šŸ•šŸ•?? #chicagocubs or #whitesox? And does he REALLY believe the Bears are built to win #superbowl 60?!?!

Plus, Bagent discusses his offensive skills camp for grades 6-12 coming up on May 23rd

The guys hit all the topics in this wide ranging interview with Bears QB Tyson Bagent.

welcome into a special edition of our BearsĀ
recap I’m David Kaplan That’s Ryan McGuffy AndĀ Ā  our special guest is Bears quarterback Tyson BentĀ
Tyson welcome into our studios Man it’s amazingĀ Ā  in here Thank you guys for having me So you areĀ
going into year three Yes sir And I said to youĀ Ā  when you walked in the door have they talked toĀ
you about an extension yet Because when you gotĀ Ā  your opportunity to play two years ago whenĀ
Justin went down two and two played well andĀ Ā  it looked like the offense moved pretty well whenĀ
you were in there How much would you like to stayĀ Ā  here with the Bears What they’re cooking nowĀ
Yeah I mean I don’t think anybody loves what’sĀ Ā  going on you know here in Chicago more than moreĀ
than I do especially with the new staff in town IĀ Ā  think everything so far has been just you knowĀ
just trying to take it all in just because ofĀ Ā  how amazing it is So I mean yeah like I justĀ
told y’all nobody nobody wants to be aroundĀ Ā  here more than me So I’m all ears You have quiteĀ
the unique like your three-year journey in theĀ Ā  NFL Just just how you got to the Bears been reallyĀ
well documented obviously like being an undraftedĀ Ā  D2 guy but Justin’s the guy when you get hereĀ
Then yes last year you have Caleb the whole fluĀ Ā  situation the firing and now the excitement of BenĀ
Johnson that’s a roller coaster to ride in itselfĀ Ā  regardless of what position you play But beingĀ
in the quarterback room what have you learnedĀ Ā  about yourself while you watch everything goingĀ
around you like whether it’s new quarterbacksĀ Ā  number one overall picks coaching changes howĀ
has that impacted you or do you still put yourĀ Ā  head down regardless and say I got a job to doĀ
regardless of who’s in charge Yeah I think thatĀ Ā  there a lot a lot of a lot of that has has to doĀ
with it Just the the simple fact of realizing thatĀ Ā  no matter where you are who’s in the room who’sĀ
ahead of you whatever’s going on it really doesĀ Ā  nothing to try and like put make that as a focalĀ
point rather than because as we know the NFL is aĀ Ā  what have you done for me recently business EveryĀ
day you got to show up and do whatever is askedĀ Ā  of you at a high at a high level So that’s whatĀ
I put my focus on And um yeah I would say that’sĀ Ā  just like overwhelmingly the most important thingĀ
I’ve realized so far So for people out there thatĀ Ā  are going “Wow we got the number one coach in theĀ
hiring cycle The Bears stepped up paid him bigĀ Ā  money brought this amazing staff.” I’m not askingĀ
you to say anything negative about who was hereĀ Ā  but what is it like having Ben in the buildingĀ
because Ryan Paul said to me on the radio a weekĀ Ā  or two ago I can promise you accountability withĀ
Ben Johnson that’s not an issue Yeah And I thinkĀ Ā  I that was noticeable from day one I mean thisĀ
is the guy you know he is the guy that everybodyĀ Ā  in the league wanted you know in their buildingĀ
And I think you know thank God we got him in ourĀ Ā  building because like I just said from the jumpĀ
it has been he’s been on us He hasn’t waveredĀ Ā  um at all No matter who’s messing up everybodyĀ
gets the same uh Ben Johnson every single day SoĀ Ā  um you know him the whole rest of the staff thatĀ
he brought in it’s been uh it’s been very pleasantĀ Ā  for all the players to be able to take in theĀ
last couple weeks Yeah I mean we we in Chicago wayĀ Ā  prior to you coming here have have sold hope andĀ
faith Like that’s what all we’ve had We haven’tĀ Ā  had a lot of championships And it’s not just theĀ
Bears it’s the Cubs it’s the White Sox it’s theĀ Ā  Blackhawks it’s the Bulls Hope and faith And andĀ
every year Chicago wins the off seasonason and itĀ Ā  feels that way this year but everyone is a littleĀ
bit like going into it I think like this like weĀ Ā  got the dude we got the guy everybody wanted it’sĀ
year two for Caleb there’s all these weapons AreĀ Ā  you buying in to the hope and faith for the firstĀ
time Because like you don’t want to sit there andĀ Ā  go we’re going to go you know 12 and five and makeĀ
the playoffs But this team on paper it feels likeĀ Ā  for the first time it does feel different andĀ
I don’t want to buy into the narrative likeĀ Ā  okay we got the guy and then something doesn’tĀ
play out right The schedule’s going to be theĀ Ā  schedule There’s some legit like the north is theĀ
north but at least for where the direction and theĀ Ā  arrow of this franchise for the first time in aĀ
long time it certainly feels like it’s actuallyĀ Ā  headed up Listen you asking the wrong guy I sayĀ
the Bears are winning the 2026 Super Bowl Let’sĀ Ā  effing go Oh I love that But on a serious note onĀ
a serious on a serious note if you don’t you knowĀ Ā  it’s one thing to win the Super Bowl Holy [Ā __Ā ]Ā
That’s what everybody’s trying to do right OneĀ Ā  team gets to do it every year There’s stillĀ
more than 10 teams that haven’t done it everĀ Ā  So it’s so hard to do It’s unbelievable HoweverĀ
if if there is not uh significant progress madeĀ Ā  uh from past years to this year it would have beenĀ
because something drastic had to have happenedĀ Ā  Like there is absolutely no way with the way withĀ
you know the players that we have on paper rightĀ Ā  The them shing up those big boys up front rightĀ
Paying those big boys right Paying the head coachĀ Ā  that is all knowing that everybody wanted on onĀ
their on their team Um I think with all theseĀ Ā  thing in place and the way that they’re goingĀ
about teaching us everything uh it would it wouldĀ Ā  take something very significant for there to notĀ
be any noticeable uh positive change going intoĀ Ā  this year Complexity of the offense you had threeĀ
coordinators last year The complexity of what youĀ Ā  had the first two years and what you’re dealingĀ
with now from a quarterback position in terms ofĀ Ā  the offensive scheme Yeah you know I think we’reĀ
still getting into it right now um definitely haveĀ Ā  uh they definitely been painting a very goodĀ
picture so far uh since we’ve been there UmĀ Ā  I would say any NFL offense is pretty complexĀ
Um but the diff the biggest difference that I’mĀ Ā  uh seeing right now is the you know the theĀ
mixture of of Ben and everybody that he broughtĀ Ā  with him um and the way that they are teachingĀ
us what we are responsible for on every playĀ Ā  um I think has been the biggest difference Um heĀ
puts a lot of the focus not necessarily on theĀ Ā  defense but you know what is our job on the playĀ
and how perfect can we do that job each and everyĀ Ā  play and just very detail oriented um everythingĀ
all the dots connect everything makes sense umĀ Ā  and he’s expecting and demanding um you know maybeĀ
not greatness but for you to at least be strivingĀ Ā  or to look like you’re striving for that So thoseĀ
are the that’s the biggest takeaway from um theĀ Ā  difference in offenses uh the past three years SoĀ
we’re taping this on the day that the schedule’sĀ Ā  released So pardon my prematurity here of askingĀ
you to pick someone and not to single anyone outĀ Ā  but I’m going to give you mine and then I wantĀ
to hear yours Either side of the football like ifĀ Ā  you’re predicting if you’re projecting a breakoutĀ
player in 2025 I think it’s Rome I think Rome’sĀ Ā  going to take a massive jump from year one to yearĀ
two Who would you pick Any side of the footballĀ Ā  I mean you guys have barely been at HowisĀ
Hall Yeah But yeah you know on the you knowĀ Ā  I’ll pick one from me I’ll pick one from eachĀ
side of the ball Okay Um I think that I thinkĀ Ā  that Caleb will have a huge year this year UmĀ
just because of all the guys that they theyĀ Ā  brought in and and you know him and and asĀ
well as the staff you know working togetherĀ Ā  all of us you know just getting it rightĀ
I think he’ll have a huge year this yearĀ Ā  um and will benefit very positively from all theĀ
changes that have been made Um and then on theĀ Ā  defensive side of the ball um you know my favoriteĀ
player is TJ Edwards but he’s a breakout playerĀ Ā  already You know he he’s the man Javon DexterĀ
first team all pro Let’s go Let Every time I seeĀ Ā  that dude he’s getting after it some way somehowĀ
Um and just takes his business very seriouslyĀ Ā  um and is you know practices just like the gameĀ
So I say I’m going big Jervon Dexter love it ofĀ Ā  what you do day by day Yes Caleb WilliamsĀ
is there but as we like to say you’re oneĀ Ā  play away from let’s go Cale Caleb Z you got toĀ
go in or Caleb’s up you got to go in How do youĀ Ā  prepare that mentality on a team now that RyanĀ
Paul said it’s time to win football games period Yeah I would say just because in my head I I’m notĀ
exactly sure what the alternative is other than toĀ Ā  um do your job do exactly what the hell thatĀ
they’re asking me to do Um and nobody reallyĀ Ā  loves their I don’t think anybody loves their jobĀ
more than I do on the whole face of the planet UmĀ Ā  so that’s really enough motivation for me to umĀ
you know [Ā __Ā ] get after like my life is on theĀ Ā  line every single day And you know self-proclaimedĀ
self-proclaimed I think I’m a bad dude as well SoĀ Ā  so so I got to stay ready cuz you know just likeĀ
you said whether you know wherever you know wouldĀ Ā  love for it to be here but you know here or notĀ
here you know you know the the the storm is comingĀ Ā  you know the storm This is a quote from you knowĀ
Ben last couple weeks ago The storm is coming SoĀ Ā  I you know we got to be ready for it So it’s aĀ
natural transition to what I want to ask you atĀ Ā  some point anyway because look it’s no secretĀ
like the ultimate goal for you is that you’reĀ Ā  the dude everyone’s talking about to be as theĀ
starter whether it’s here or somewhere else That’sĀ Ā  the goal of you to be in the National FootballĀ
League I’ve seen your name attached to things nowĀ Ā  Like a year ago people were trying to figureĀ
out who Tyson B or a year and a half ago peopleĀ Ā  are like “Who the hell’s Tyson Bean?” Now teamsĀ
are going “Are is this guy available?” BecauseĀ Ā  they know about you They’ve seen film of you TheyĀ
There’s Who’s asking Who’s asking if I’m availableĀ Ā  Well I can tell you the New Orleans Saints theĀ
day Derek Carr retired We’re about Tyson Bee’sĀ Ā  name became a hot topic in the Bayou So not thatĀ
you try to follow the smoke and mirrors of socialĀ Ā  media and all that stuff but in NFL circles yourĀ
name is being discussed as other teams are goingĀ Ā  we don’t know about the future of X How does thatĀ
that certainly can’t motivate you but the factĀ Ā  that your name has gone from undrafted free agentĀ
to teams are thinking about you as a possibilityĀ Ā  as their starter You’re not where you want to beĀ
yet but you’re that is showing progression of whoĀ Ā  you can be and what the league is thinking of youĀ
now Yeah And I think that that is all wonderfulĀ Ā  Um but you know also I know you know very muchĀ
more than anybody else that there it’s it’s a lotĀ Ā  of work that needs to be done um before that UmĀ
and it’s not really something that you can reallyĀ Ā  just sit there and think about because I I’m aĀ
bit you know you got to be where your feet are AndĀ Ā  right now I am all in loving it here in ChicagoĀ
for the Chicago Bears Playing my role doing my jobĀ Ā  to the best of my ability And whatever comes afterĀ
that is great But in the meantime in between youĀ Ā  know we just got to we got to keep getting readyĀ
so that we are ready for you know that momentĀ Ā  whatever it may be cuz the storm is coming manĀ
It’s coming You got to be ready for it Don’t letĀ Ā  it Don’t let Don’t let the uh um what did it sayĀ
in the in the movie just now with Michael B JordanĀ Ā  He said uh jump on the work Don’t let the workĀ
jump on you You don’t want to be you don’t wantĀ Ā  to be you know unpleasantly surprised So we sitĀ
in this office every day and we quote movie linesĀ Ā  It’s what we do Mhm Because we just have fun MhmĀ
There’s some movie you’re not you want a mindlessĀ Ā  40 minutes and you flip Oh that’s on I’m going toĀ
watch the last 40 minutes What movie would thatĀ Ā  feature Oh man Semipro is a good one Elf is a goodĀ
one I’m going down the Will Frell route Uh WillĀ Ā  Frell’s the man Um old old Yeah I mean yeah thoseĀ
are my two that that’s clicking right now I likeĀ Ā  the Avatar Hold up [Music] Um the uh fighter pilotĀ
movie one or two Top Gun Wow Top Gun Maverick WowĀ Ā  So I adopted a golden retriever whose birthdayĀ
was yesterday We’ve lost him one yesterday AndĀ Ā  you know what his name is Ma Hey listen Uh I meanĀ
that that that’s arguably uh I mean one and twoĀ Ā  you know I don’t know which one’s better I agree IĀ
mean I feel like two better I mean yeah And that’sĀ Ā  that and that never happens That never happensĀ
So yeah Solid The best What’s the rel What’s theĀ Ā  quarterback room like with you and Caleb I knowĀ
you know you guys come from different Case YeahĀ Ā  Case Keen I was going to ask about Case but likeĀ
just the room itself in the last 12 plus monthsĀ Ā  The relationship the fun that you guys can haveĀ
in the room outside the room because you comeĀ Ā  from two different backgrounds two differentĀ
programs You know you got the Heisman you haveĀ Ā  undrafted you have 1011 What is that dynamic likeĀ
and how much It’s probably a question a little bitĀ Ā  for Caleb too but like how have you helped himĀ
and how has he helped you Well I’ll say HeismanĀ Ā  and D2 Heisman Um fair And yeah but with theĀ
quarterback room I mean it’s it’s probably asĀ Ā  good as you can get right now I mean everybodyĀ
everybody in the room knows that you know yes ofĀ Ā  course individually we all got to strive and weĀ
all got to get better and we all got stuff thatĀ Ā  we need to work on and and that definitely getsĀ
done and there’s no shortage of that getting doneĀ Ā  Um but there’s an understanding of you know kindĀ
of you know we’re all there to help and provideĀ Ā  so that 18 could be the best that he could be onĀ
the field Um and I think that hanging out with himĀ Ā  this spring being around him already can obviouslyĀ
see um jumps from year one to year two just a justĀ Ā  from a general understanding of everything that’sĀ
going on Um and I think you know me young AR AR16Ā Ā  um being there from last year I think that offersĀ
you know a comfortability and then adding case nowĀ Ā  to the room I mean you talk about a guy you knowĀ
especially somebody like me that you know is stillĀ Ā  really in search of how can I continue to getĀ
better What a guy to be able to talk to aboutĀ Ā  any different situation that you could possiblyĀ
be in Being a freaking guy for a franchise beingĀ Ā  the backup being on the practice squad I meanĀ
the dudeity the dude longevity I mean yeah myĀ Ā  whole routine is is different now you know kind ofĀ
thanks to Case Keenum and him kind of offering andĀ Ā  his little tidbits on on what he think what he’sĀ
done and um then obviously me you know just tryingĀ Ā  to be a sponge and everybody else in the roomĀ
Um I think kind of just gravitates towards youĀ Ā  know asking him a lot of the questions So uh it’sĀ
great And then obviously you’ve got JT Barrett asĀ Ā  our freaking quarterback coach I mean what theĀ
heck I’m going to How freaking How amazing isĀ Ā  that Cuz I’m a Buckeye fan I mean if you’re fromĀ
from if you’re from Ohio I mean wow this you builtĀ Ā  a statue of this mug Like here here’s I’m hereĀ
Here’s what I was gonna say Remember last wasĀ Ā  it two years ago I was like “Cap take a look TakeĀ
a look at the Detroit Lions coaching staff.” LikeĀ Ā  I’m talking take a deep dive look and look atĀ
the amount of NFL experience on the staff YouĀ Ā  have Antoine Randall out of Barrett You have HankĀ
Freillley on the offensive line Scotty MontgomeryĀ Ā  is their running back’s coach Aaron Glenn wasĀ
their DC And and there’s guys I met I thinkĀ Ā  uh Oh was it Yeah And you had their tight end’sĀ
coach was Steve Hayen or something And I’m likeĀ Ā  dude former players matter J John Fox was a seniorĀ
defensive assistant just up and down the sidelinesĀ Ā  the guys coaching two Super Bowls And I’m havingĀ
to Google half the names across the league notĀ Ā  just in Chicago because I’m like man I’m tellingĀ
you those things those guys resonate with dudesĀ Ā  who are suiting up every day Is that true YeahĀ
I would Yeah there’s definitely a um there’sĀ Ā  definitely a different level I think of maybeĀ
not competence but maybe just deep understandingĀ Ā  um when somebody is teaching you something thatĀ
he has physically you know done or tried to do UmĀ Ā  so I think that even especially with JT somebodyĀ
that’s as young as him he will do the drill firstĀ Ā  and be like hey this is what we’re you know thisĀ
is what we’re doing and he can you know was inĀ Ā  the NFL does it at a high level So um I thinkĀ
there is definitely there’s a part of that thatĀ Ā  definitely makes a lot of sense and I think thatĀ
we’re we we’re filled with those on our staff nowĀ Ā  Al Harris Eric Benemy Jim Dre So running I meanĀ
name whoever you want Press Taylor like Yeah nameĀ Ā  Now the Bears are going to be this like we knowĀ
it’s a copycat league If this works if this modelĀ Ā  works everyone’s going to be just carbon copyĀ
It was like the Detroit Lions model Now it couldĀ Ā  be the Chicago Bears model And for years in thisĀ
town people are like “What if the OC gets pluckedĀ Ā  by another job?” I said “Name one that has.”Ā
Yeah No I would love for that to happen in thisĀ Ā  town because that means shit’s going right We’reĀ
winning and there’s a factory that’s being likeĀ Ā  that’s that’s actually producing coaches and aĀ
tree at House Hall for once and not the other wayĀ Ā  around It’d be great if that happened So you’reĀ
at Sheepard There’s no NIL at Sheepard rightĀ Ā  my senior my senior year but it might have beenĀ
a little shady We won’t get into it We won’t getĀ Ā  into it Statute of limitations So essentiallyĀ
no Okay So if you were playing now in collegeĀ Ā  and phone rings you got one year left at ShephardĀ
You’re setting all these records and it’s a powerĀ Ā  five Go you want to transfer I’ll give you 500Ā
grand Do you do that or you go “No I’m going toĀ Ā  stay right where I’m at.” Because it’s like I seeĀ
guys playing for four different colleges in fourĀ Ā  years I hate it Yeah Yeah I mean there there’sĀ
two sides to that story You know what I mean 100%Ā Ā  You know I mean I’m a little bit of a weirdo I IĀ
didn’t even necessarily stay at Shephardd for anyĀ Ā  other reason that I was way too scared to leaveĀ
home Right But if you’re not scared to leave homeĀ Ā  I mean you got to take the $500,000 right I meanĀ
my goodness 500,000 Yeah What are we talking aboutĀ Ā  You know how many dudes make it to the NFL NobodyĀ
Yep 1% of That’s about how many Nobody So yeahĀ Ā  you got to Yeah you got to So it’s really just aĀ
shame on uh NC on the NCAA Um that it got to thisĀ Ā  that that it’s like this Yeah Or that there’sĀ
not a uh that there’s not a ceiling Yeah LikeĀ Ā  all right guys You can make you know $100,000Ā
a year Okay I think that should be for freshmanĀ Ā  like you’re paying these guys are getting so muchĀ
money up front for what they could be doing ratherĀ Ā  than the other way around of here’s your 100 grandĀ
base and if you become the guy we think you couldĀ Ā  be there’s 8 to 10 million waiting for you juniorĀ
senior year that’s the way I think the the I meanĀ Ā  wow I mean when you really just take a step backĀ
and you really are like you know what did ArchĀ Ā  Manning sign for $10 million to go to TexasĀ
yeah the kid Michigan Blair but look at lookĀ Ā  at look at Shadur and look at Urs just got a snapĀ
he’s going to make what 50,000 Quinn Yeah He’s aĀ Ā  seventh round pick He made more money at Texas NowĀ
he looks like a dumbass for coming coming out andĀ Ā  going to the NFL Like that’s how crazy it’s gottenĀ
And like when you think about like the how muchĀ Ā  how the the number of percentage of people thatĀ
don’t even have like $1,000 Yep And then we’reĀ Ā  sitting here talking like you got the you gotĀ
the situations happening like at the UniversityĀ Ā  of Tennessee with their quarterback of like oh noĀ
I’m out like “Oh okay Y’all give us some money.”Ā Ā  Well I’mma hold out and make more money Like wowĀ
Yeah You know cuz then wow I mean cuz then there’sĀ Ā  essentially it’s like you’re less hyped to make itĀ
to the NFL So then you would be like part of partĀ Ā  of make it to the NFL was like “Oh my gosh nowĀ
my people are now me and my people are straight.”Ā Ā  Yep Hallelujah Now it’s like these dudes areĀ
like “Oh yeah going to rookie mini camp JustĀ Ā  got picked up.” And there’s no handouts anymoreĀ
Yeah Like there’s no more BC dude It’s everyoneĀ Ā  on campus And if you don’t earn your keep we goingĀ
to see a game We go every year to a a basketballĀ Ā  game at an amazing arena So this year we went toĀ
Kansas Nice It was incredible Last year we wentĀ Ā  to Duke Yep And saw Cameron Indoor Stadium HaveĀ
you ever had a chance Probably not because youĀ Ā  been playing Is there a football venue you go I’dĀ
like to just get a couple beers and go to a gameĀ Ā  and tailgate there M man I’m going to be honestĀ
Call call me bias There is no better game dayĀ Ā  atmosphere than the Shepherd’s University Dude theĀ
Shepherd University homecoming week is by far theĀ Ā  best game day atmosphere that I have been to whenĀ
I’m thinking about where I want to go and justĀ Ā  drink a couple beers Dude if I want to go watchĀ
a football game okay you know I might go MichiganĀ Ā  Ohio State okay at at Michigan And I think thatĀ
would be pretty electric Could you imagine goingĀ Ā  to a game at Shephard with that guy That would beĀ
Wow Are you the biggest thing to ever come out of Oh Um yes Yeah Yeah It’s okay to say yes Yeah probablyĀ
Here’s what here here’s what I you you said youĀ Ā  were scared to leave home but you have this auraĀ
and confidence about you that I absolutely loveĀ Ā  And some people might get rubbed the wrong way byĀ
saying “Oh it’s arrogance.” I think it’s completeĀ Ā  confidence just sitting next to you right here TheĀ
way you’ve carried yourself thus far in the NFLĀ Ā  So when you had to go pack up your bags and go toĀ
Chicago and leave home nervous What was that likeĀ Ā  Shoot man It was like It was like immediate likeĀ
“Oh my gosh celebration I got picked up by theĀ Ā  Bears Wow this is wonderful.” And then it was likeĀ
the next day the anxiety because I went hard thatĀ Ā  night with my with my buddies because we made itĀ
to the NFL I was like “Oh my.” I looked up how farĀ Ā  away is Chicago from Martinsburg West VirginiaĀ
And then I saw 11 hours And then I was likeĀ Ā  “Damn.” And then I got there and then I rememberĀ
the first practice that wasn’t the greatest I wasĀ Ā  kind of sitting in my room and I was just like “OhĀ
my gosh this is exactly what happens to every kidĀ Ā  when they go off to college or when they freakingĀ
like get a new job somewhere and they freak outĀ Ā  and they come back immediately.” Um but you know IĀ
got great parents I got good family So they helpedĀ Ā  me through it And then four days later I neverĀ
felt like that again So it was all good FirstĀ Ā  time they said to you um not when you just got putĀ
in Justin’s out thumb injury your starting WhatĀ Ā  was that experience like Um yeah So he came off toĀ
the sideline and you know initially didn’t reallyĀ Ā  think anything happened cuz he got tackled andĀ
yeah he was like on the ground for a second butĀ Ā  then he popped up and he ran off He was runningĀ
off to so I’m like “Okay yeah dang.” I’m likeĀ Ā  “He’s fine.” Right So then I we walk up to whereĀ
where the you know QBs and the QB coach kind ofĀ Ā  congregate in between drives and I see his thumbĀ
is completely dislocated So I’m like I’m like heyĀ Ā  I just I’m like hey here we go Like here we goĀ
And then I’m warming up and quarterback coachĀ Ā  talking to me And shout out to Andrew JanokcoĀ
my guy Good Janoko is a good dude I I miss himĀ Ā  Um he’s talking to me about a bunch of [Ā __Ā ]Ā
and he’s like making corrections on the callĀ Ā  sheet and I said “Coach let’s you tell whoeverĀ
that the game plan is the game plan You y’allĀ Ā  call whatever y’all call whatever you want.” AllĀ
right let’s roll All right let’s do this And thenĀ Ā  uh Yeah it was that was it was crazy though AndĀ
your first start was was that the Raiders FirstĀ Ā  start was at home against the Raiders I I wasĀ
at that game and that the the fan buzzed forĀ Ā  that game to see you play It was going sidewaysĀ
a little bit with the I think everybody was readyĀ Ā  for something new And then this town No one lovesĀ
an athlete like the backup No one loves anybodyĀ Ā  more than the backup quarterback in this townĀ
That’s how it’s been forever and always I hopeĀ Ā  that that changes No offense but the buzz whenĀ
you led the team down did you score a rushingĀ Ā  touchdown in that game or I can’t remember ThatĀ
was the Minnesota game The Minnesota game OkayĀ Ā  I just remember it was like that’s that’s whenĀ
all the butt then it was like secret man YeahĀ Ā  Then we put a ass spanking on the Raiders to endĀ
that What How long was that streak It was ugly 12Ā Ā  Yeah it was bad It was like more than a year YeahĀ
Yeah Yeah There’s been a lot of those streaks WowĀ Ā  In this town And you won Wow Well I think thatĀ
ignited like a eightgame home win streak YeahĀ Ā  Right Into the next year Yeah Into Yeah Yep WowĀ
What I think is cool too is you talk about beingĀ Ā  like this you know the small kid from the smallĀ
town and then look what you’re doing now ThisĀ Ā  this is you’ve done this You did a camp last yearĀ
but talk about what you’re doing here coming up onĀ Ā  May 23rd because I think it’s awesome what you’reĀ
doing for kids Perfect Yep Just so I don’t messĀ Ā  this up All right May 20 May 23rd 2025 Uh thisĀ
coming next week we are doing a offensive skillsĀ Ā  camp at Glenbook Glennbrook North High School homeĀ

be way better This one’s going to be way betterĀ Ā  Look look how like Tyson looks like a completelyĀ
different dude with the locks Jackson’s diggingĀ Ā  He wore the Tyson Beijing shirt I love it I’ve gotĀ
a can Yeah it was a smart it was a smart move onĀ Ā  his part to be uh and your dad said “Hey get overĀ
here Get over here.” I just think it’s super coolĀ Ā  what you’re doing You know you don’t No no nobodyĀ
has to do this type of stuff Yeah and for you toĀ Ā  be you know the the backup quarterback of theĀ
Bears and embracing your own opportunity hereĀ Ā  and giving back to kids I I just think that’sĀ
a guy who gets it And there’s just not a lot ofĀ Ā  guys who come through here that all the time theyĀ
get it And I think it’s really cool what you’reĀ Ā  doing for uh for for the people of Chicago andĀ
Chicagoland And check out that QR code if you’reĀ Ā  if you’re interested in going because it’s a greatĀ
opportunity The weather’s turned and rain or shineĀ Ā  you see it It’s pouring down rain I promise youĀ
that that guy right there sitting next to us he’llĀ Ā  be out there Hey football’s an outdoor sport atĀ
the end of the day That sure is Doesn’t matter howĀ Ā  many domes they build It’s an outdoor sport WaitĀ
what’s your opinion on the matter Are you coolĀ Ā  with Arlington Heights or you want the lakefrontĀ
Oh my gosh man We should have been indoors aboutĀ Ā  25 years ago Goodness gracious No 4,000 passer myĀ
ass Y’all go y’all go stand outside Y’all go standĀ Ā  out there My goodness Little chilly a littleĀ
windy The chili is fine Chili is fine But thatĀ Ā  wind is got a mind of its own You You didn’t seeĀ
the meme where the pope there was a a meme aboutĀ Ā  there there’s a pope from Chicago before thereĀ
was a 4,000 yard pastor in Chicago Crazy WellĀ Ā  that’s getting that’s getting broke this year ButĀ
but also back to the camp Yeah As much as I wouldĀ Ā  like to take all that credit luckily for me um IĀ
have a great uh great support system that helpsĀ Ā  put things like that into place that I can thenĀ
show up at and then we all have a great time UmĀ Ā  so it’s definitely a conjoined effort um on thatĀ
end But uh yeah kids are going to have a greatĀ Ā  time They always have a great time We always haveĀ
a great time uh doing it So um under the lightsĀ Ā  doesn’t really get a whole lot better than thatĀ
Deep dish or thin crust Um I’m going deep dishĀ Ā  deep dish Uh lumaladis puads Pquads I I like IĀ
mean they’re pretty similar They’re pretty similar Love it I love it I love it I love it I loveĀ

about it Socks or Cubs Give me the socks Give meĀ Ā  the socks Here we go Screw the Cubbies Screw theĀ

be so any other you PCA would be your comp if youĀ Ā  were comping a baseball player or anybody elseĀ
in this town I guess so I guess they keep puttingĀ Ā  pictures of us side by side I’m like man that isĀ
No we got to make that happen We got to make theĀ Ā  PCA Tyson Begent reunion I like it I like it TheĀ
Union go sporting events as a fan Um yeah I go toĀ Ā  I go to Shepard I go to Shephard University Uh allĀ
sports events I go to Cubs the Chicago Cubs gamesĀ Ā  Um I’ve been to um obviously Chicago White SoxĀ
games and I’ve been to [Music] um couple BullsĀ Ā  games and uh yeah basically and then the h what’sĀ
the hockey team The Blackhawks Yes the BlackhawksĀ Ā  That was my first hockey game Um and that wasĀ
also time So yeah all the Chicagoland sportsĀ Ā  and all Shepard University sports is where whereĀ
my sports watching goes right now So if you lookĀ Ā  at Shephard University notable people because I IĀ
wanted to I wanted to pull it up Tyson’s listed asĀ Ā  number one Now it is in alphabetical order but ifĀ
you go down the list it’s like judge congressmanĀ Ā  governor Randy Moss man Well I’m talking aboutĀ
Shepard University Oh Shephard University BrenttonĀ Ā  Doyle who plays for the Rock Hello Hello Golden GĀ
best player in the MLB Shout out to Brenton DoyleĀ Ā  I knew that would get for the Colorado Rockies andĀ
did not transfer to Shephard Was there all the wayĀ Ā  the whole time Bam Let’s go He was a senior myĀ
freshman year Stud So you guys know each otherĀ Ā  Absolute stud No Of each other Of each otherĀ
Okay Well we got to get that That’s the firstĀ Ā  thing that a White Sox Rockies game which throwĀ
out the records when those two teams get together Yeah that’s tough Tough deal I can’t commentĀ
on that but shout out to Brenda But there youĀ Ā  go There instead of congressman there isĀ
another athlete to come from I wanted toĀ Ā  ask you about your workouts because I readĀ
about it last year where you’re doing theseĀ Ā  workouts I’m going to pull it up justĀ
stupid hard with your butt up Yeah MyĀ Ā  my mentor best friend Derek GallagherĀ
Um but I work out with about all myĀ Ā  buddies That’s a prerequisite to beingĀ
my buddy is that we get it in togetherĀ Ā  So what is the Oh that was bad I was in the painĀ
cave right there Don’t show too much of that now Where did the workout like who designed itĀ
He did or you did Um no So it’s not reallyĀ Ā  a design uh rather rather it is uh CrossFit So umĀ
I’ve been doing CrossFit ever since I was aroundĀ Ā  eight nine years old Um and the way CrossFitĀ
is defined is constantly varied functional moĀ Ā  functional movements performed at high intensityĀ
Um so that’s kind of how me and my brother andĀ Ā  my dad kind of had us getting down since anĀ
early age And then I kind of developed my ownĀ Ā  kind of love and understanding for it everĀ
since you know once I became like around 17Ā Ā  18 and started understanding what it means to beĀ
healthy and what that all is Um of course I don’tĀ Ā  know what the heck I would do I don’t know whatĀ
I’m going to do when all this football stuff’sĀ Ā  over with That’s to be determined But um yeahĀ
one yeah we just Yeah we like to get it in AndĀ Ā  uh so programming CrossFit workouts most of theĀ
time I’ll let him do the programming You know he’sĀ Ā  got a trick shoulder and is a little older thanĀ
me so I let him pick the workouts Um but then I obvious um Andrew Hiller who actually lives notĀ
far from here Yeah 20 years from now you’ll beĀ Ā  in your 40s This football thing will likelyĀ
be over I’m not going to end it for anybodyĀ Ā  anymore after Tom Brady Okay I’m going to get aĀ
neuro I’m going to get a what’s that A neurochipĀ Ā  Yeah That shit’s going to keep me 76y old YeahĀ
Yeah But 20 years from now your script has beenĀ Ā  written What What would you like it to say I’mĀ
just talking strictly about your I’m not goingĀ Ā  to hold back now I’m not going to hold backĀ
I don’t want you to hold back now Um Oh yeahĀ Ā  I’d like to be you know a handful handful of ProĀ
Bowls in there Maybe one or one or two Super Bowls Um I mean [Ā __Ā ] other than that couple $300Ā
million contracts a lot a whole lot of moneyĀ Ā  in between all that and um yeah but really justĀ
you know those two things would be that would beĀ Ā  cool I’d be I’d be happy with that I’d be happyĀ
with that Bought anything for yourself once youĀ Ā  got an NFL paycheck or two in the back Was thereĀ
something you went I want back for myself YouĀ Ā  don’t strike me as a Rolex guy You strike meĀ
as baby you got a G No I actually hate carsĀ Ā  I’ve never had a car payment so scratch thatĀ
immediately Um jewelry I kind of I I feel theĀ Ā  jewelry on my body so I don’t like that Um boughtĀ
a lot of steak and put my family in a nice cribĀ Ā  back at home And that’s really about the extentĀ
of like the nice things I got I bought a coatĀ Ā  when we were in London I did that Um that yourĀ
first trip overseas No no I bet I went I went toĀ Ā  Malddova when I was 18 my dad had an arm wrestlingĀ
tournament and it took me and my mom So that thatĀ Ā  was pretty cool Uh so that was my second time uhĀ
overseas Um other than that I guess I have fundedĀ Ā  the family vacations the last two years So thatĀ
is that as well U but outside of that no I justĀ Ā  I just make sure that I eat I eat good I likeĀ
it I mean like this like it’s a never forgetĀ Ā  where you come from approach to be honest withĀ
you That’s what it sounds like I love that It’sĀ Ā  kind of that’s how I always like to wake up andĀ
be where my feet are But you know when I thinkĀ Ā  about Tyson Beant and where he where he wantsĀ
to be which is Pro Bowl and Super Bowl but likeĀ Ā  who he is I go back to how you started this wholeĀ
interview and you said I have the best job in theĀ Ā  world and no one’s going to tell me differentlyĀ
So if it ended tomorrow or you don’t want it toĀ Ā  end tomorrow but it seems that you have thisĀ
approach that when you wake up like you’reĀ Ā  going to be okay Yeah Yeah Well and because youĀ
know regret is is tough You know regret’s toughĀ Ā  So I feel like I do you know kind of on autopilotĀ
try to you know squeeze all the juice that I canĀ Ā  from each thing because it could you know yeah weĀ
say all pros and super rules I could be on the wayĀ Ā  home tomorrow you know knock on wood But um soĀ
yeah I try to take the most out of every singleĀ Ā  opportunity because that’s the only thing that IĀ
that’s really the only thing I won’t regret TysonĀ Ā  it’s been awesome having you here in the studioĀ
and here’s hoping man Wherever your journey takesĀ Ā  you it’s where you want it to be My man I agreeĀ
I appreciate you guys having me Hell of a setupĀ Ā  here and it was a good time You heard it SuperĀ
Bear Super Bowl Tyson said it Let’s go Bear Dan 2026 man 2026 What What areĀ
we going to sit up here and sayĀ Ā  anything otherwise No Oh yeah ThereĀ
we go We’re all on the same pageĀ Ā  That’s Tyson B That’s Golf Cap SpecialĀ
edition of our Bears recap Take that

  1. This is a good kid that’s made from the right stuff. The bears don’t deserve him.

  2. If you've ever wondered why a team needs a veteran QB in the room. Re listen to Tyson talking about having Keenum on the team.

  3. Bagent is such a dude. "How have you spent your money?" "A bunch of steak. Oh, and I bought a coat." Gotta love that.

  4. So tired of hearing ā€œthe bears always win the offseasonā€ – no they don’t. They never won the offseason season before Poles got there. And it takes more than one good off season to go from REALLY bad to a playoff team. Why no one challenges that nonsense and just keeps repeating it I don’t get. The Bears have won the offseason season since Poles has been here – and he inherited something that was really bad…What was he supposed to do – fix everything in one off season?

  5. 3 years ago everyone said it was different with Matt Eberflus, only 3 years until everyone hates Ben Johnson

  6. Listen the first Pope from America is from Chicago, that’s all I have to sayā€¦šŸ»ā¬‡ļø

  7. I promise you he will be a starter at some point! It would not surprise me that he will be the biggest story of the year when he gets his break.

  8. I don’t want Caleb to get hurt, but I’ve always thought I would love to see Tyson with his team. Gunslinger with this receiving core his quick decision from here decision-making. It would be fun to watch.

  9. Don’t usually comment on YouTube, but been fan of Tyson’s since day one… definitely think Caleb is going to be a stud. But I’ve told everybody for two years that we have the best backup quarterback in the league.

  10. Tyson is going to be the Starter by Mid Season Ben Johnson isn’t going to have patience with Caleb!!!

  11. I’m looking forward to seeing his advancement in preseason with this offense. I think he’s somebody we can potentially trade and get some draft picks for if we can make them look good enough.

  12. I love Caleb so don't take this the wrong way but I would love this young man to get 4-5 games this year as I believe he would do great running the offense. Then he could get a shot on another team to start and we could get some draft capital.
