Tyler Loree capped off his high school golf career in some rarefied air.

The UCLA-bound Seabury Hall senior became just the eighth person to achieve multiple career individual wins in the David Ishii/HHSAA boys golf championships as he rolled to a six-stroke victory and a repeat title at the Mauna Lani Resort North Course on Friday.

Loree, of Kula, Maui, led by four after shooting a 5-under 67 in the first round Thursday and his 1-over 73 on Friday was plenty to win on a day that no one shot par or below. The three-time MIL champ finished at 4-under 140.

Loree became the first boys golfer to repeat for the individual title since Waiakea’s Jarett Hamamoto in 2001 and 2002, and just the fifth to do it overall. Three boys golfers have won two individual titles in non-sequential years.

Island School’s Lucas Summerhays finished runner-up at 2-over 146 and Waiakea’s Jake Otani was third at 147.

Punahou won its 12th team title and first since 2015 with a 616, three clear of runner-up Kealakehe. Two-time defending team champion Waiakea finished third at 620. Waiakea still leads all-time with 13 boys state team titles.

Jordan Takai (T-fourth, 148), Bryce Toledo-Lue (T-seventh, 150) were Punahou’s top performers. Anthony Uehara, Coel Berardy and Phoenix Nguyen-Eden tied at 37th with 162s.

According to Hawaii Prep World, Loree’s six-stroke margin of victory is the fourth-largest in state history. He won by two strokes at Kaneohe Klipper last year.

Also per Prep World, he is the only boys golfer in state history to finish in the top three in four consecutive years. No one has won more than two individual titles in a high school career.
