Alex Hunter provides his top DraftKings fantasy golf value plays for the Mexico Open at Vidanta.
The PGA TOUR is hosting the fourth edition of the Mexico Open at Vidanta this week. Since this event’s inception in 2022, Vidanta Vallarta (par 71, 7,436 yards, paspalum greens) has been the home of the Mexico Open. Jake Knapp (-19) captured the first PGA TOUR title of his career at this tournament last season, finishing two shots ahead of Sami Valimaki. All three of the golfers to win the Mexico Open at Vidanta have shot -17 or better. This week’s field consists of 132 golfers, and there will be a standard top-65 and ties cut following the first two rounds.
Designed by Greg Norman, Vidanta Vallarta is a long, coastal course that features wide fairways, thin rough, large greens, 55 bunkers and water in play on 12 holes. Vidanta Vallarta is an easy track where long hitters have an advantage. All three of the winners at this par 71 have finished T11 or better in SG OTT during their victories, and two of these three players have either led their field or finished runner-up in driving distance. We should be prioritizing efficient drivers this week and players who are also in compelling form with their irons. Each of the past two Mexico Open winners have finished the event top-eight in SG APP, with Knapp notably leading his field in the metric last season.
Vidanta Vallarta is a unique par 71 that features nine par fours, five par threes and four par fives. Given this rare setup, we need to be seeking strong par three players in addition to the usual heavy weight on par four efficiency. At Vidanta Vallarta, the three Mexico Open winners have finished 11th, 3rd and 1st in par three efficiency.
Below, I have featured four of my favorite sub $7.5K DraftKings bargain plays for Mexico Open at Vidanta.
Set your DraftKings fantasy golf lineups here: PGA TOUR $500K Pitch + Putt [$100K to 1st]
Kevin Roy ($7,400) – Roy finished T18th in his lone start at Vidanta Vallarta two years ago, and the 34-year-old returns to the track in strong form. Roy earned his PGA TOUR card after finishing T13th or better in three of his final four starts on the Korn Ferry Tour last summer and on the PGA TOUR this season, Roy has advanced to the weekend in both of his first two starts, most notably with a T18 at the American Express his last time out. Roy has shot under par in 13 of his last 17 rounds, and he leads the entire PGA TOUR in total driving this season, making him a perfect match for the driver heavy Vidanta Vallarta. Roy is a terrific target at this $7,400 price tag, and he may get overlooked given he is not a household name. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Roy carries the best odds to win the Mexico Open of all players priced under $7.5K at +6000.
Ben Silverman ($7,400) – Silverman is coming off a T16 at the WM Phoenix Open, in which he carded a 6-under 65 at TPC Scottsdale. Silverman also gained strokes on approach and with his putter during this finish. The 34-year-old has now made 13 of his last 16 cuts and produced five top-20 finishes during this stretch. Silverman has been great with his driver, gaining strokes OTT in seven of his past eight starts, and he ranks third in SGP when we compare this field’s last 50 rounds, which is great news with a birdie fest like the Mexico Open up next. Silverman finished T13th in his debut at this event last season and brings similar upside this week.
Trey Mullinax ($7,100) – After dealing with multiple injuries over the last few seasons, Mullinax finally looks healthy again. In his three starts of 2025, Mullinax has finished T18th, MC and T32nd, in that order. The Alabama product gained strokes with his flat stick at all these events, and he has shot under par in eight of his 10 rounds this season. Plus, Mullinax’s driver has always been his best club throughout his career and his driving has remained elite as of late, with him ranking 12th in SG OTT over his last 24 rounds. Mullinax’s terrific driver lifted him to a T22 finish in his lone start at Vidanta Vallarta three years ago – he finished the event 10th in SG OTT – and he is awesome bargain at this low salary that has top-25 upside once again.
Luke List ($6,900) – Disregard that List missed the cut in his Mexico Open debut two years ago and attack the bomber at this sub $7K salary. List only missed the cut by one shot in that lone start at Vidanta Vallarta, and he returns to the driver’s paradise as the maker of seven of his past 10 cuts. List has always been one of the best drivers on the PGA TOUR and his putting has also come alive recently, with List collectivity gaining strokes OTT and with his flat stick in three tournaments in a row. In this type of form, List should flourish at Vidanta Vallarta, and he is very underpriced for his upside at $6,900.
